I saw Queen and Billy Squire at the Shoreline Ca. in the late 70's and was totally blown away ! Didn't know what to expect ! They left a Musical Imprint in my Mind forever ! R.I.P. FM !!!
The drummer Roger Taylor could have been the lead singer for almost any other band. Part of what sets Queen apart is the vocal greatness of the harmonies. Unrivaled.
Always amazing..but...this song had to be from Live in Montreal....It's beyond anything I could even explain here. You look lovely as always! xxx from Greece
Freddie could wear anything and still rock. You should watch him in Another One Bites the Dust live in Montreal in his tiny white shorts and nothing else, Legend💛
Fabulous, but sooo much better live - try Montreal '81 or Milton Keynes '82, both versions different but equally wonderful. As for Freddie's leotard, pretty much his staple outfit back in the early days, and you knew at some point those straps would come down.
"White Queen" Live in Hammersmith Odeon 1975. You really get to appreciate Freddie's piano playing 🎹 & Brian makes his 🎸 guitar sing. Beautiful performance!
Freddie was a huge fan of Aretha Franklin who was the queen of soul music and he wrote this song as a tribute to Aretha. Queen created beautiful harmonies in the studios, but their live performances were on another level. Pls, check out the live version at Montreal 81.
Y'all haven't scratched the surface of Queen and their greatness!!! Live versions of this song at Montreal and especially Milton Keynes, also White Queen at Hammersmith Odeon, Who Wants To Live Forever at Wembley and Freddie's impromptu vocals at Wembley! And if you're feeling like really delving in, the entire concerts at The Rainbow, Hammersmith, Montreal, Milton Keynes and Wembley!!!🔥🔥🔥
8:25 "He reminds me of..." The short answer is *Nobody* Freddie Mercury is in a Class all by himself. There is nobody who is "kinda like" Freddy Merdurt.
I was literally thinking the exact same thing about Freddie Mercury and Prince and their outfits! They were PROFESSIONAL performers and put on a show no matter what! They took what they were doing seriously and had such amazing personas (I'm sure in their personal lives they were not exactly like they were on stage). So much respect for their talent and again, professionalism and dedication to entertainment.
Growing up in the 60's and 70's I was fortunate to see many concerts. I am now 63. Harrisburg PA in 1974 I went to a concert with 3 bands. Top billing was Mott the Hoople, 2nd billing was Aerosmith, and bottom billing was...Queen. It was awesome. Interesting how through the years that ranking changed.
Must do this song live. Queen are one of the few bands whose live performances can outdo their official videos. Live, live, live. Wembley, Montreal. Love, love, love.
Seal did a great rendition of this on the Masked Singer Season 1. My kid overheard me watching it and boy that kid channeled his inner Freddie Mercury going, "Somebody...Somebody to LOOOOOVE!" pure funny story
MY FAV SONG!! ❤️ My fav live performance of Somebody To Love is at Milton Keynes 1982. Queen is on Fire 🔥 and Freddie is unbelievable at the piano 🎹 Montreal 1981 is pure perfection, too! Oh heck, Hammersmith is awesome cuz young Freddie is unleashed! Wow!! OMG such a good song!! ❤️❤️❤️
@@kennedy6587 Thanks for the heads up. Fingers to big. Sometimes my letters get mixed up. Then autocorrect puts in wrong word. Well you get the picture. Edited now thou.
i was born in 2008 so i wouldn't have known about queen at all, but ive known them since i was 10 HA! i memorized a lot of their songs thanks to my father who introduced them to me when i was little🥺💜, and yo when i was in elementary i was so excited to tell all my classmates about them and influence them, LOL and it worked!! A lot of my old classmates know them and their history😎🖤
This is probably one of the best Queen songs to show the difference between Queen's Studio version (with all the Harmonies in place and the technical skills shown) and the live versions (Montreal 1981 and Milton Keynes 1982), where the skill of the band members and the power of Freddie on stage forces you to not notice the lack of polish
My first records as a kid were the 45's of Queen - We are the champions and AC/DC - Dirty Deeds. Played those songs until the records couldn't play anymore.
Freddie showing off (vocals) to this song would be the live performance at Montreal 1981. That performance has more Power and Energy making this one like a lullaby. Outfits - just wait he has one making him essentially a disco ball 🤭🤣
Yeah, you're right it was Wayne's world. Would you please do a reaction to Skid Row Wasted Time? The lead singer wrote it about his friend being addicted to heroin, the vocals though from the lead singer are just off the charts incredible.
Thankyou darlings, Queen again 🙏🏻 Please more more more. Their live performances were epic. May I suggest Who wants to live forever live at Budapest. Or One Vision live at Wembley. Much bless and love to you! Keep up the good work.
The Wayne's World movie featured Bohemian Rhapsody, and caused a major resurgence in the songs popularity. Though it was always one of the best songs around. This song is another example of how Queen is one of the great bands of all time. Great reaction.
Yes, that live version in Montreal was great. I have a rabbit hole suggestion for you two. Marc Martel. Style is different but he's really good with these Queen songs.
First off, love you guys! All your reactions are so real and energized and authentic. Thanks for them! Not sure if anyone commented but your Wayne's World reference is hysterical but while yes their hairstyles looked like Freddie in this video, they put "Bohemian Rhapsody" into a scene in their movie. In fact, that's when I first heard the song, got hooked with the headbanging in the car-scene, and then realized all the other music Queen sang that I already loved. Anyway, google the scene in Wayne's World/Bohemian Rhapsody. To this day, if it comes on the radio while I'm driving, I have to pull over because I HAVE TO do the headbanging! lol
Some body to love is my ringtone (lol) I just love Queen especially Freddie Mercury., because this man was a big fan of Aretha Franklin 👸🏾. He wanted to do a song with her & even though he’s not here his music is & I’m happy that people are listening and loving his music. Freddie Mercury never saw color
Somebody to Love, live Montreal in a Superman wife beater. He's got his Heineken and lemon water. He's in his element and will take you to church!!! Queen is always better live.
Half, your beautiful young lady has set down a challenge. Now I don’t bat left handed but you in a one piece Lycra catsuit has got to be worth a glance ! 😂🤣 I’m in bits. Keep up your good work and regards from England 🏴
My favorite Queen song! Please check out the live version in Montreal 1981. Then check out The Freddie Mercury tribute, George Michael singing this song. He knocked it out of the park!
Always review the live performance to get the true feel. Any damn body can sound good in the studio. Queen is exceptional. Review Montreal live performance please.
Love it! So, how do you two think this compares to the review of the Live In Montreal version you reviewed a few months back? That's the fun of Queen, you can watch several versions of the same song & get different feelings from them all. Thanks for your reaction!

Not just Roger , Brian May could have also.
The eagles may come close if you are comparing only how harmonious they were. Just my humble opinion 😌

Agreed Dafni. The Montreal version is... simply the best performance of this song by them I've ever seen. For all that haven't seen it, look it up

Freddie was known not only known for his stage Performance but his outfits were off the charts amazing
As outstanding as this studio version is, live at Montreal is 10 times (at least) more impressive. Thank you for reacting to this song.
100% Yes!!!
Agree , Freddy had that crowd eating out of his hand and the performance he gave was beyond outstanding.
👍
I agree. You really need to see the live Montreal version of this. The live performance is amazing.
Those f****** drums tho (during Montreal '81.)
Leave Freddie and his bodysuit alone, he looks great lol (especially in the black one) ❤❤❤

Once in a millinia experience.
As like my 5th favorite Queen song, it's still better than most bands can ever do.

Talk about vocal control. Freddie's vocal control is on the level of an opera singer.
As others have most likely said, should have gone live with this one... Montreal. The live energy can't be beat.

Live from Montreal is everyone's go to performance. I prefer the live version from Milton Keynes bowl.
