Most importantly, I love all 3 songs and think they’re great and dance music or catchy “anime opening” songs are meant to be memorable, repetitive and childish in nature. If you think this was out of context or hating then that’s on you. 😂

Warning: Friendly no hate comment ❤
The short version = You're comparing Grammer from someone who doesn't speak Japanese at all to bands who are using English ironically on purpose, but can not PRONOUNCE the words correctly because they maybe don't speak English either. Unless I'm wrong, you are unintentionally making fun of the Japanese accent... 😅 They ARE using correct grammer and words. She is not.
So that being said, using Anime music seems like a strange comparison because they aren't really comparable, through language, culture or genre.
At the end of the day I think people don't understand he is making fun of specific songs and artists, not making fun of someone using words from a different language. 😂.
I think people just literally misunderstand. Why would she say "I am" in Japanese and then "Star" in English. That particular song IS silly. The anime songs as an english speaker make sense. You know how many Americans I've seen irl say "yeah america baby. Come on, baby. America" the lyrics are stupid BUT they are intentionally ironic.
At the end of the day i just think people misunderstood both sides and are arguing about two different things. I don't know because I don't follow creators, trends and drama but seems like a giant misunderstanding to be honest. Oops. 😅😅😅
Have a great day or evening!

I think a big difference here (and major points to her) is that Meg worked with a well -known, native Japanese rapper. Music doesn't have to be grammatically correct and often isn't. Not sure why the scrutiny here

I beg to differ. There's an objective way to measure this, and no part of this song that was good wasn't derived af. The beat is common, and because little to no effort went into the lyrics, not much was done with that beat to make up for it.

As a teacher, Mamushi is an excellent example of teaching someone language through rhythm and reputation. They go from speaking the entire phrase in Japanese to adding the English translation and repeating the phrase until the listener understands and makes the connection themselves.
    Okane kasegu, watashi wa STAR
    STAR
    STAR
    STAR
    KIRA

What does the listener suddenly realize? They know a full sentence in Japanese!

Ehmm, if that's what you learned, then maybe the song isn't as great at teaching as you think.
'Kira kira' is an onomatopoeia for sparkling, like a star. It doesn't mean star in Japanese.
I guess the lesson is to fact check and not assume songs with hybrid lyrics are a direct translation (?).

@aislynncarpenter701 I see. It still is a great lesson. I don't think one word being incorrect makes it suddenly invalid as a lesson. That's why I thought he was offended. It still holds a ton of weight as a great language learning technique.

Tbf, "kira kira" is the onomatopoeia for something that sparkles. Usually things like lights, jewelry, or stars (like shiny things). It makes sense because the lyrics before "Kira Kira"; they reference themselves both being stars (Megan and Yuki). That's probably why he references twinkle twinkle.
Actually thought something similar after hearing the whole song for the first time, not just the chrous. Love Megan thee stallion and the song ❤ I assume the creator maybe only heard the part of the songs that's clipped the most 🤷 like for the 'dance' people have been doing that Megan does in the video. I haven't seen his full video, but I do follow that creator and his videos are usually like that; he laughs at a lot of stuff, even things he does in his own community/culture. So I take his content with a grain of salt.
I like the new song and it's catchy as hell imo. I wish I had seen his full video, to see the whole thing, and get more context 🫠

Very true. You gotta give her credit for giving us something different. "I get money, I'm a star," is common rap stuff. Not really a weird thing to say. It's catchy, and gives a Japanese rapper more exposure, so we love that.
I usually like matcha samurai though. His vibe is usually chill and not judgemental. I guess he took a rare L. He's usually anti-gatekeeping, so this is weird.
I'd urge people not to use this as a good example of him.

That's just basic observation and comparison, also it's just a joke, like he didn't say 'why American artists do this, even Japanese didn't do it'.
If you actually watched him, u would know he made fun of Japan all the time, so why can't he made fun of American then?

To explain myself more concisely, people only notice it because they only speak English. This happens with almost every language that is secondary. For example, most artists in the world are not bilingual. Therefore, their songs sound ridiculous to a person who speaks that language not just fluently but, like a local, with an understanding of colloquialisms and idioms. Or when a song is translated literally into a second language and therefore loses the context of colloquialisms, see Daddy Yankee - Gasonlina. It's literal translations into English make no sense if you do not understand the local slang.

Reminds me of when I'd watch those Filipino soap operas with my grandma. Half the words I could understand because they speak Tagalish or something like that; Tagalog and English together.

The dude in the first video is ridiculously condescending about everything he talks about, always starting with that hyena cackling and If he don't subtitle it,I will not understand any of the things he talks between all those chuckles.

His laugh is so forced and unnecessary. Even when it’s not funny. Idk how his subscribers find his laugh as wholesome!

English in jp songs really started kicking off in the 90s and moreso now thanks to the internet. One Ok Rock is amazing with english, but their earlier songs needed a little work. Now they make songs in english.
