Smart move getting the gt3 wheel rim less issues then the newer gt7 rims on fanatec. I also love how so many peoppe think its all plastic the wheel ahha. Guys cf feels like plastic its actuallt fiber glass reinforced. So yes plastic but also fiber glass. Its why its so rigid for so called plastic and why it still feels so quality.

My biggest word of advice to anyone building a racing setup whether its supposed to be budget friendly or not, DO NOT cheap out on a cockpit/wheelstand. The amount of wobble, flex, and overall instability in a flimsy setup takes away a huge majority of what you should be feeling in your force feedback. If you spend $2000 on everything else and $300 on a cheap cockpit then you're definitely not going to fully utilize the stuff you just bought. In sim racing you get what you pay for!!!
I had a similar wheel stand and I had the predecessor to your CSL DD and if you tighten that thing down like your life depends on it, then it'll definitely be enough to get you by. I would recommend doing some sort of DIY reinforcement for extra stability. Anything will work and im sure there's tons of stuff online to work from :)
My apex wheel stand holds up like a champ! Very sturdy and hardly any flex. Havnt yet needed to retighten any bolts. Will look to upgrade to a full cockpit setup later down the line though
On the contrary, if you spend around $35 in wood, have existing wood working skills and tools, some bolts and an actual race car seat, you can build a superior cockpit
Nice! I have the GT DD Pro bundle and just scooped up the Fanatec handbrake. I decided to go with the GT Omega ART with RS9 seat which I highly recommend for the price. Had a wheel stand for when I had the Logitech G29 and Thrustmaster T300, and it was great, but a dedicated rig takes the experience to a whole new level.
Suggestion, get the rig closer to the tv for better immersion and use dash or cockpit view without arms and wheel. You'll have faster time and better fov.
I have a GT Omega Titan cockpit, and just bought this exact setup from Fanatec the only difference being I got the F1 V2 wheel. I can’t wait for it to get here
I had the Thrustmaster T-GT with TLCM pedals and SF1000 wheel and decide to upgrade to a DD base. So I bought the DD Pro with boost kit, Formula V2.5 wheel and V3 pedals. All working good on my reinforced Playseat Challenge 😁
I also have the SF1000 & considering the DD Pro. Would you recommend the upgrade/sidegrade? Do you miss the great SF1000 wheel which has far better functionality than the Fanatec ones? Main thing stopping me upgrading.
@@rchatte100 What Thrustmaster base you are using now? The SF1000 was my best wheel! Loved the screen data, the looks of the wheel! Really really great wheel. But I had issue with F1 game that the wheel screen freeze after a while, i did sent my SF1000 to Thrustmaster but ii kept freezing, i dont know if it has been fixed by now, but i decide to go to Fanatec. But the DD Pro (Boost kit) has more FFB and you do notice it. My best combination would have been the DD Pro with SF1000 🤣 But, maybe just wait a bit longer as Thrustmaster will release a DD base this year. I did not want to wait longer 😊 as i was 5 months without my race setup and was really missing sim racing.

Dont do much SIM racing in summer anyway. Have Fanatec pedals (with load cell) so think will go all Fanatec for PS compatability. Ideal would be for Sony to release GT7 on PC :) Doubt it!

Same here, just upgraded from G923 to Fanatec GT DD Pro + Clubsport V2.5 + CSL pedals with Load Cell Kit. The Load Cell Kit is stiff I only set it to 55%, the braking feeling is so good after you build the muscle memory. The wheelbase force feedback is quite strong I only set it to 70 on F1 2022, its feedback is detailed you can really feel the car / road conditions. Highly recommended.
First comes first, update the Pedal firmware. If not, F1 2022 cannot detect the pedal set. 2. Use iPhone Measure to find and set the wheel centre point. 3. Some bugs on F1 2022, the wheel will push and turn left or right when the car enters the pit (sometimes, not always, when playing GP or Career). I have to exit the game finally to stop the wheel from pushing turning.
Nice setup! Yeah the load fell comes very stiff stock. I’ve since upgraded the stock elastomers to 3D Rap progressive elastomers. Definitely not as stiff as before and helps immensely with trail braking.
I run the same setup, except I run the V3 inverted pedals with shifter and hand brake. Will be upgrading to the McLaren wheel soon. The ps steering wheel is to small. I did upgrade to the 8nm adapter for more feedback. Enjoy!!!

So im tired of using this drive hub with a hori mini controller to switch from Xbox to Playstation, and your setup (wheel base and wheel) is exactly what I read would work. Im just curious if I can plug my current logitec pedals and shifter to work with it too.
The Apex Wheelstand held up very well to be fair. I used the 8nm GT DD pro on it for over a year. Only reason I upgraded is because I started using an office chair and it swivelled too much during drives. The Titan also offers next level stability however. There is more flex with the Apex in comparison.
I have the same wheel and pedals. Love it. I dont get why some people say the load cell is to hard. I also changed the config setting. Very easy to trail brake
I nust bought the dd pro last month as well. Playing mostly on gt7. I happen to have a laptop to install ACC. And yes the FFB on is is more detail. Youll feel every bump. GT7 is pretty much up there as well but some ramps is missing that extra ffb. But GT7 is good enough. Make sure u follow fanatec settings. Heard 3D wraps makes 3D printed rubber springs for better feel on the pedals. But man it is expensive.
Been playing ACC on pc and the force feedback is incredible when you dial in the settings! I’m quite happy with the stock load cell brake now that I’m used to it but would be interesting to see how the 3Drap load cell brake mod feels
@@ThePuffsLife based on reviews. You get a little more travel for trail braking. But yeah i also got used to it after awhile. Same as you i adjusted the brakeforce to 55. Fanatec 40 is just to little of a force to hit 100% causing brake locks.

1. Yes the McLaren is PS5 compatible. I’ve used it on GT7, ACC and F1 22 with no issues 2. If you’re talking about the fanatec clubsport v3 pedals, yes it’s better than the CSL pedals I have on this video.

did you havew the plastic quick release already on the wheel straight out of the box? mine came with 0 quick release system whatsoever. i have a free quick release coming in a seperate package, just wondering if thats the same one or if its an extra one and the wheel is missing an innate quick release. ty
Thank you! I personally use anti slip rubber pads on my chair. Does the job fine. Rubber mats also do the job. Ive even got a mate that uses an old yoga mat lol

Your next purchase probably needs to be the quick release for the GT3 wheel. They say that the plastic one is not really strong enough. I had already got a Formula V2 wheel so I haven't used my GT one yet. I only got the base though cuz I had wheels and V3 pedals. It's awesome though ain't it 😃

Hi, Can you tell me how the multifunction display in gt7 work with the McLaren GT3 wheel? With the gt wheel, you have the 4 multifunction buttons, where you can change directly the traction control or breaking balance.
Hey man. I come from the same setup and have been considering a dd pro 8nm with load cell for a while now. I was kind of waiting for someone like you to show us how it's done on a GT Omega APEX stand. I have my stand mounted to the rear frame with a seat. I was really curious about the pedals as I don't think it lines up 100% with the stand out of the box. Can you detail how you mounted the pedals (I haven't read all the comments so sorry if this is a duplicate question)? Anyhow, thanks for your comments and thanks for the vid!
Hey mate. I only used 3 bolts to secure it down to the apex stand. I used 2 bolts on the bottom of the CSL metal footrest as it matches with the lines on the foot panel of the apex stand. I then screwed a bolt on the clutch pedal to secure it to the stand. If you want, you can drill a hole on the the brake pedal and throttle to secure it further but i havnt had to.
Great video, i am looking at getting the GT3 v2 or the formula v 2.5. Now all the reviews i have watched all say the v 2.5 is great but a little small at 270mm so i had decided to go for the GT3. I came across a few videos where they are saying that the rotary switches do not work in GT7. I see that your video is a year or so old, so just wondered if this is still the case or have they been patched to work with recent updates. Cheers.
I don’t think the rotary switches work yet in GT7. It’s easy enough to use the toggle switches to change the settings of the car midrace however once you get used to it.

Wow hey I bought the same Omega stand and the same fanatec dd pro kit. The only thing I'm missing and want to add is a gear shifter and maybe a handbrake. I was wondering if you ended up installing the bracket that came with your Omega kit. Because when I installed mine, its in a position that I can't really imagine the fanatec gear shifter to be in. The fanatec one would end up being too high from it's elevated base and the other shifters either plug by usb directly to the device and not into the fanatec base which is what I would prefer. Any advice on that? Thanks and great video!

How much did this all cost? I bought a G923 last year, a much-needed upgrade from my old Driving Force Pro, but I was disappointed by the amount of rattling that the wheelbase makes. I'd love to upgrade to Fanatec but the investment is far too much for me at the moment. How much noise does it make whilst driving?
How is everything holding up? I have been seeing a ton of negative things around the dd pro wheel base breaking and then customer support not doing anything? Thinking of this or a Moza. Whats it been like for you so far?
Loving every moment of it so far! Everything is holding up just fine. Been using the gt dd pro wheel base daily and rotating the steering wheels every so often and have not run into any issues at all. I've also heard good things about Moza but just be aware that you wont be able to use it on a console. It's only PC compatible
I've had my GT DD Pro for over 3 months now and also have had no issues. A mate has had his CSL DD for 8 months and it's been fine. I'm sure there's instances where units have failed but people don't generally comment or post on the internet if things are going fine.
Any reason why you chose the Xbox wheel? From what I understand if the dd pro is both PC & PS compatible, any wheel that works with the dd pro base should work with the PS & PC. Just curious if there was an advantage having the Xbox version of the wheel when using on PC vs if you just got the PS wheel? Lmk why you made that decision, thanks! About to make a similar purchase and I also will play GT7 on PS5 and ACC & iRacing eventually on PC.
I chose the Mclaren GT3 v2 over the standard GT7 wheel that comes with the DD Pro bundle based on quality. I was not convinced on the quality of the GT7 wheel. It also looks very toy like in my opinion. You also have to factor in that that GT7 wheel is a smaller wheel in diameter compared to the Mclaren wheel when making a decision.

At the moment i still use a controller. But i want to buy the csl dd with the mclaren wheel on the wheel stand 2.0 from next level racing. I just wanted to ask if a formula/gt-wheel goes well on a wheelstand like that when you use a gaming chair?
did you havew the plastic quick release already on the wheel straight out of the box? mine came with 0 quick release system whatsoever. i have a free quick release coming in a seperate package, just wondering if thats the same one or if its an extra one and the wheel is missing an innate quick release. ty

Thank you! I personally use anti slip rubber pads on my chair. Does the job fine. Rubber mats also do the job. Ive even got a mate that uses an old yoga mat lol

GT DD Pro is for PS5 and PC. You will need to get the CSL DD wheel base which is for Xbox and PC

Your next purchase probably needs to be the quick release for the GT3 wheel. They say that the plastic one is not really strong enough. I had already got a Formula V2 wheel so I haven't used my GT one yet. I only got the base though cuz I had wheels and V3 pedals. It's awesome though ain't it 😃

With the gt wheel, you have the 4 multifunction buttons, where you can change directly the traction control or breaking balance.
Did you figure this out? I'd like to be able to adjust the CSL DD pedal braking sensitivity on the PS5 through the GT3 wheel...can this be done?
Hey man. I come from the same setup and have been considering a dd pro 8nm with load cell for a while now. I was kind of waiting for someone like you to show us how it's done on a GT Omega APEX stand. I have my stand mounted to the rear frame with a seat. I was really curious about the pedals as I don't think it lines up 100% with the stand out of the box. Can you detail how you mounted the pedals (I haven't read all the comments so sorry if this is a duplicate question)? Anyhow, thanks for your comments and thanks for the vid!
Hey mate. I only used 3 bolts to secure it down to the apex stand. I used 2 bolts on the bottom of the CSL metal footrest as it matches with the lines on the foot panel of the apex stand. I then screwed a bolt on the clutch pedal to secure it to the stand. If you want, you can drill a hole on the the brake pedal and throttle to secure it further but i havnt had to.

Great video, i am looking at getting the GT3 v2 or the formula v 2.5. Now all the reviews i have watched all say the v 2.5 is great but a little small at 270mm so i had decided to go for the GT3. I came across a few videos where they are saying that the rotary switches do not work in GT7. I see that your video is a year or so old, so just wondered if this is still the case or have they been patched to work with recent updates. Cheers.
I don’t think the rotary switches work yet in GT7. It’s easy enough to use the toggle switches to change the settings of the car midrace however once you get used to it.

Nice setup :) I purposely bought the GT DD pro wheel base stand alone to avoid the DD Pro wheel. Much prefer the McLaren GT3 V2 rim.

Wow hey I bought the same Omega stand and the same fanatec dd pro kit. The only thing I'm missing and want to add is a gear shifter and maybe a handbrake. I was wondering if you ended up installing the bracket that came with your Omega kit. Because when I installed mine, its in a position that I can't really imagine the fanatec gear shifter to be in. The fanatec one would end up being too high from it's elevated base and the other shifters either plug by usb directly to the device and not into the fanatec base which is what I would prefer. Any advice on that? Thanks and great video!

How much did this all cost? I bought a G923 last year, a much-needed upgrade from my old Driving Force Pro, but I was disappointed by the amount of rattling that the wheelbase makes. I'd love to upgrade to Fanatec but the investment is far too much for me at the moment. How much noise does it make whilst driving?

Does the steering wheel not come with way to connect to base? You had to buy wheel and connection?
The McLaren GT3 V2 steering wheel comes with the plastic QR1-Lite quick release. It’s packaged and sent separately however.
How is everything holding up? I have been seeing a ton of negative things around the dd pro wheel base breaking and then customer support not doing anything? Thinking of this or a Moza. Whats it been like for you so far?

Loving every moment of it so far! Everything is holding up just fine. Been using the gt dd pro wheel base daily and rotating the steering wheels every so often and have not run into any issues at all. I've also heard good things about Moza but just be aware that you wont be able to use it on a console. It's only PC compatible

I've had my GT DD Pro for over 3 months now and also have had no issues. A mate has had his CSL DD for 8 months and it's been fine. I'm sure there's instances where units have failed but people don't generally comment or post on the internet if things are going fine.

Any reason why you chose the Xbox wheel? From what I understand if the dd pro is both PC & PS compatible, any wheel that works with the dd pro base should work with the PS & PC. Just curious if there was an advantage having the Xbox version of the wheel when using on PC vs if you just got the PS wheel? Lmk why you made that decision, thanks! About to make a similar purchase and I also will play GT7 on PS5 and ACC & iRacing eventually on PC.
To clarify, I’m only talking about the Mclaren PS & Xbox version, not the PS GT7 wheel that comes in the bundle.
I chose the Mclaren GT3 v2 over the standard GT7 wheel that comes with the DD Pro bundle based on quality. I was not convinced on the quality of the GT7 wheel. It also looks very toy like in my opinion. You also have to factor in that that GT7 wheel is a smaller wheel in diameter compared to the Mclaren wheel when making a decision.
@@ThePuffsLife , I meant why you chose between the Xbox and PS version of the Mclaren wheel, or are the buttons just swappable because I’ve seen some with the Xbox logo and some without it.

I really don't want to buy the shitty Gt dd pro wheel tho, did you have any problems with the button mapping, shifting or ffb on the mclaren wheel while playing Gt7? :| Would love to hear from you.
