    Important lesson from the 1980s: It is a myth that the USSR "collapsed" in 1989; instead, starting in 1981, Reagan was able to borrow and spend $500B (more than a trillion $ in today's money) to modernize the US military, while the Soviets were frozen out of the Capitalist system of credit, and so could not respond, losing the high stakes pissing contest. These sanctions will eventually have the same effect on Russia. The West will have access to credit and will outspend Russia militarily and eventually the Putin Regime will fail. In Marxian terms, "There are limited possibilities for tramsformation in the Capitalist system". Russia might "win" the "Battle of Ukraine", but it will be a Phyrric victory, and will lose the longer economic war. As long as it doesn't get out of hand and the nukes start flying.

    • @svetlanakosenkova1363
      @svetlanakosenkova1363 2 года назад +1

      So very wrong. The sanctions won’t have any effect on Putin’s administration, as long as the nukes are in their power, the state of the army won’t matter as much.
      Who the sanctions are really effecting is the middle class. Only those people, if they grey in numbers, would choose to fight for human rights and freedom, because others are too poor, busy providing for their families. But the sanctions force the middle class to either leave their homeland or become poor, so no real democracy for Russia with such a strategy, but world leaders clearly don’t understand this about Russia

    For the first days of the invasion, ukrainians are widely united & armored. ukrainian military is fighting back with passion, actually dealing great damage and losses for Russia, whoose soldiers are poorly motivated and have completely fucked up the blitzkrieg of the Moscow's insane one.
    Info for all the curious from Europe & civilized world to be up to date.

      "Europe & civilized world"... The hell is that supposed to mean? That us "civilized" (read "white") folk only care about this war, and not the dozens of others that have happened and are continuing to happen in recent years? Sounds about right. And you would never consider calling the armed resistance in Ukraine "terrorism" of course. Hooray for double standards

      @@moongirl786 you're seeing what you want to see. I've meant the democratic world and anyone who's supporting Ukraine now. how the hell ukrainian defence is "terrorism". if you're saying so, you're showing that you're not too informed about the subject. and maybe you're too lucky to live your peaceful place I guess, without Russian or anyone else's soldiers attacking your lands.

      It's rather stupid if me now when I think about it, bit when Julia mentioned Putin makes the weather I thought about literal military planes all over Moscow sky every May 8-9 (Victory Day, Putin LOVES it). So every year they will disperse the clouds so it won't rain and the multi billion military parade will be at its best.
      I live 5 hours away from Moscow and almost every May 9th it fucking rains. From that same clouds.

    Putin must be eying the Baltic nations with their large, Russian-speaking populations, their open water access to the North Atlantic and the potential they represent in re-creation of the USSR. That would effectively mean he has to remain on a war footing on two fronts. More importantly, how will the apparatchik get parts for their Beamers, Range Rovers and Mercs as they reach the end of their trophy shelf life.
