Mark Logsdon there’s nothing in the constitution that says PBS has to let people comment on the videos they post. They turn them off because the comments sections become infiltrated with bots and when the entire section becomes overly divisive and hateful. It’s a necessary action that all Media outlets have to take, be they CNN, FOX, or PBS.
I'm not so sure I'm reading this correctly. At the age of nineteen I save up a week's salary, rustle up a bunch of papers that I didn't know even existed, even go to the local police station to get a piece of paper that says I'm not wanted for a crime in not only my state but nationwide. The people had me sweating bullets, they knew I needed the passport to qualify me for Naval aviation, they also knew I had gotten busted with weed riding in a stolen car with a guy I didn't even know driving. That's not how you want to go into the Navy with that on your resumé, oh yeah it was outstanding too, over a year. I used to run with some hard guys, that's the way it was, crime can equal excitement and adventure and to a LOT of guys like me was a positive point. In Virginia that's Shutdown Territory you walk into with that station stamped on your forehead, like they can grab you long enough to destroy your life, it happens every day. The officer and I played the are you clean, I can find out game, you've got tattoos, because at that time tattoos were not ok, did you go through the metal detector walking in, said I feel like I know you. I kept it together, he wanted to fuck with me, and more less say this is your last chance, beat it. They knew, but, you're not gonna ruin a guys career over it. Maybe in Ohio or somewhere like Tennessee but, nah, but you're entering the Death Star with that shit. I got the passport, had the career, got out, got the blue and gold cap and a pair of free glasses every year. Ok.
So today fast forward to today, and suddenly I'm being told passports are no longer needed to enter a country, especially the US, because keeping people out of America is racist and it's killing children, fueling domestic (white male) terrorism and making Donald Trump so strong, so powerful, so impervious to mother nature itself he could go into your daughters bedroom at night, open the window, read her diary and write something about fake news on her mirror with a marker. What the fuck? What country hasn't passport laws? I've been to sixty-one foreign countries and I had to stop and show something to someone, at the airport, on the train or driving at most of them, not the EU and we see what open borders do. Listen I'm not against Hispanic immigrants in the US, because if you've got people wanting to come here, people from the Philippines are my personal favorite, followed by Hispanics and Europeans. They're already widely based and accepted here, they know it and they know we as Americans are overwhelmingly on their sides, just clean up after your dog, don't argue with the clerk about some bullshit coupons, we don't like that unless you're 90 years old, and for Pete's sake be careful driving out here, I'm a fat man on a beach cruiser. But we gotta know who you are, it doesn't cost a thing to show up at the front door.

As a speaker, and listener, she is the most balanced person I've ever seen or heard. And her humor is timely and non-disruptive. So eloquent.
Shes an expert in Russia affairs as well, Putin, Russian language as well.

Does anyone not like this woman? I am constantly amazed at the adulation this woman garners on the internet. It is all but impossible to find a negative comment, argument, much less a disparaging comment about. Her arguments are logical, consice, and well spoken. She is well educated, fluent in Russian, and at the risk of being chauvinistic or misogynistic, drop dead gorgeous. Well l guess l answered my own question.

She's done some doggy tweets which she has apologized for. That's as bad as it gets.
In December 2016, Politico fired Ioffe within hours after she posted a (soon deleted) tweet speculating about Trump behaving inappropriately with his daughter Ivanka.[51][52] Ioffe tweeted the following about President-Elect Donald J. Trump and his daughter Ivanka: "Either Trump is fucking his daughter or he's shirking nepotism laws. Which is worse?"[53] The tweet had included a link regarding[54] Trump's purported plan to assign the East Wing of the White House, traditionally the First Lady's domain, to his eldest daughter Ivanka. The Atlantic, which had recently hired Ioffe for a position to start a few weeks later, issued a statement addressing Ioffe's comments, saying, "We're confident that when she joins The Atlantic next month she will adhere to our standards".[55] After deleting the tweet from her page, Ioffe tweeted several apologies[56][57] including the following: "It was a tasteless, offensive tweet that I regret and have deleted. I am truly and deeply sorry. It won't happen again."[57]

@Logically Irrational Yet she goes out of her way to make fun of Stephen Miller's. My, but she goes to town on him, on how 'icky' he is. She seems to want us to know more than anything else that there's no way she is going to go out on a date with him. He's just so, like, _conservative._ Borrowing in advance the language of Justin Trudeau, she harps on the word "fringe" as a synonym for both 'non-left-wing' and 'cuckoo.'
She would love have loved how Trudeau also to "fringe" added "often ra cist and misogynist" and "holding unacceptable views" in describing people who disagreed with his firing people from their jobs if they hadn't gotten vaccinated against Covid. (Bill Maher recently read many of these statements to his studio audience, following them by saying to Trudeau (who wasn't present) "Now you _do_ sound like Hitler," and he wasn't joking or even quipping. She's one of these "progressives" who paints devil's horns on all conservatives, who along with others has destroyed the country's political center, and who, as a denizen of the Left Pole, finds anything to the right of it Far-Right. (This is by analogy to the North Pole, compared to which even the North Slope of Alaska seems downright subtropical.). People like her are why I'm politically homeless in the center.
Believe she was born in Moscow. No POTUS prospectives unfortunately.

The best thing we could do is get rid of the Republican and Democrat party. And put some people in office that want to help the country not themselves.
I think the first thing we need to do is realize that media has us believing that for he sake of profits and that true journalism is dying. Plenty of politicians on both side overwhelmingly are doing things that benefit their constituents. The dirty back door dealing and pork waste in bills really needs to stop.

Just an OMG moment. Without knowing anything about Steven Miller, his agenda, history, so when I first laid eyes on this man, it was a news bite, the image of Josef Goebbels, one of Adolf Hitler's henchmen, popped up in my mind's eye, and I was also rememded of the character of the newspaper executive/publisher in Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead.

Yea. Repubs don't seem too happy or relaxed, huh? Angry victims who blame everyone and insult others without any practical; measurable method of improving our everyday lives.
I want to share a story on this "Muslim ban" for anyone interested. I'm just a random white guy whose lived in both poverty and middle class/upper suburbs in mid-east US. Agnostic atheist if that matters. My high school was mostly white, but did have diversity. My brothers and I had friends from every religion including Islam. When Trump was running for president, one of his first shocking "policies" was a ban on Muslims traveling to the country. They later changed it to what Julia has described. This was the beginning of the division of my Facebook and most of the country. One of my friends posted something like, "Should we just allow Muslims into our country when they have done these terrorist acts?!" This happened to be the first girl I kissed at like 11 years old. I replied explaining that, yes we should allow them in because of the first amendment for one thing.. Freedom of religion.. And, that while religious radicalism can be dangerous, it's a very small minority compared to the many peaceful people in the Islamic community. It's also not limited to just Islam, and with her being a Christian, she should know the history of that. I know she must have been taught these things having gone to the same public schools which had teachers who didn't preach their own religious or political beliefs in class. How can so many people be ignorant, not just to the constitution, but to other cultures and the meaning of freedom? Then add on the fact that the primary presidential candidate is saying this so brazenly, and people are supporting this? After 4 years he still gets nearly half of the countries support? It's just shocking that we can all pretty much agree on things like for example, President Zelenskyy of Ukraine has shown himself to be a badass. Why can't we all agree that Trump is not someone who should have political power, and things like racism are not ok on many levels?

I notice she often describes Miller as extreme and inflammatory, then admits that he was often factually right. Other times she describes his views as fringe, such as the idea that large scale illegal immigration depresses wages. It does. This is simple supply and demand. Labor is a good like any other, and when you increase the supply of it while demand remains the same, the price of labor, I.e. wages, goes down. This is not even a controversial opinion, much less an extreme one. Bernie Sanders used to say it. She also insults Miller for being bald and having a bad voice. Well, not everyone is born as beautiful as you, Julia. Ioffe is a very intelligent woman, whom I very much agree with on Putin, but her condescending attitude on her domestic political opponents is beneath her.

Large scale illegal immigration only depresses wages in illegal jobs because it is a federal crime to hire illegal immigrants without green cards/citizenship (IRCA, the Immigration Reform and Control Act)...so what jobs are you talking about? One thing I have often thought about, but never gets covered in the press, is the responsibility of business owners that create demand for illegal immigrants. If they refused to hire anyone here illegally (and fine them if they did), I imagine the demand would go down. I have always thought that that people want to appear tough on illegal immigrants but also as many people are business owners, it is in their financial interest to keep them here. Any thoughts?

Whether it's the damage to the environment due to industrial interest, the grinding down of workers and the impeding of their rights to organize or the industrial level in which the Right wing promotes war via the military industrial complex. Why then are working class whites so shocked that the Right wing enables corporations to create an environment to utilize cheap immigrant & prison labor to undermine the prosperity of domestic workers? By using racism and ethnocentric talking points they get poor & working class White folk to vote against their interest. Many Hispanics, Africans, Asians and Middle Eastern immigrants would love nothing more then to assimilate into the American society. Yet, we ask them to forego their dignity to do so. Well, this is why Republicans will always meet resistance.
