What do you think of Beast Academy's Math?

I absolutely love beast academy! You are correct, it is not the best choice for most kids, but if you have gifted/advanced kids it is the best! I wish I had had this program to use with my students when I taught public school gifted math. Both of my own gifted kids used the program in full and loved it so, so much.

It was all the people saying they loved it that made me want to give it a try. :)

I really like how challenging this program is. We used the online course. It worked really well for my 1st grader who just finished level 2. My 4th grader just finished level 3, and i felt like the concepts being covered weren't really on par with where other kids her grade are. We do love the puzzles. Some of the challenging questions even make me really think to figure it out and help my daughter through it.

It seems like the online piece might be a good addition to the workbook.

Thank you for your honest review. We have never tried Beast Academy. It looks super cute.

My daughter loves it. The online version has video explanations that really help. I'm not sure the books alone would have worked for her, but it is nice to have a screen free option!

Good to know that the online option has some additional explanations.

I have a older kid who has some gaps in math but is advanced so I’m trying BA with her!!! I’d love to try to get more advanced applications for her!!! This kid loves math monsters!!! She plays prodigy for extra practice!!! It be a supplement for her as she’s done the levels that I want her to do but couldn’t apply the math in harder problems!!!

Yeah I went too early too. With my advanced 4-year old. Second half was a no go! But she loves me reading it and doing voices. We’ve read it 100 times. I’ll just keep it around in case she ever wants to do the harder problems.

Yeah, I'm thinking of trying to pull it out again in a year or so and see if she's ready then.

Beast academy 1 (ba1) is recommended for children who have already completed grade 1 math. The company is clear about this. I find that their placement tests are very off. We live the program but it is worth noting that it is aimed at gifted children.

Yeah, I think it would have worked for her if I'd waited another 6 months to a year.

Although I wanted to love it and my daughter loved the stories, it created a lot of frustration for us. We might try it again in the future and I might try it with my son. But unfortunately, it really wasn’t a positive experience for us.

Not everything works for everyone. Did you try just the book or the online supplement as well?

I bought it for my 1st grader as a supplement and could not get her interested in it. She is not math savvy though.

Not everything we try works. Homeschooling sometimes feels like a big experiment. :)
