DC2's new Tanabe Hyper Medallion exhaust ALMOST sounds great :( + Before-After clean-up goodness!

  • I thought the Tanabe Hyper Medallion exhaust would be the solution for the Honda Integra exhaust leaks but it just created new problems. The mystery DC2 short shifter is out and a new one is in its place. As well as some more underside clean up to really bring the DC2 even close to being roadworthy!

    When you said you're not gonna bother with the heatshields I was so disappointed, thankfully the "voice of reason" spoke up! Pity about the small leak but don't be so hard on yourself. Definite progress made! Rusty-about-to-fall-apart exhaust is out, minor leak to solve now. Prefer the sound of the new system as too and looks the bizznizz!

      Hahaha, thanks! I didn't lose sleep over it but I definitely woke up in the mor info thinking about whether or not I should bother with the heatshields. 😂 New exhaust is a winner in my books too...might even sound a bit better without the extra inline puffs escaping!

    Damn that exhaust tunnel looks good after the creepy voice convinced you to paint it! Also, getting all fresh bushes for your shift rods front and rear is one of the best driver experience upgrades on these 90s b series Hondas. With new bushes they feel so solid and with so little play!
    You'll sort that exhaust blow easily don't worry.

      I'm a huge oval canister exhaust nerd so I was happy to come across it. I love the fitment as well. This one was definitely rougher than I expected but many hours of cleaning and polishing and it came back pretty well! I'm really excited to hear it fully rev out. There's an old option/hyper rev type video that has an exhaust comparison with it and others, and this one was definitely the most mellow (maybe quieter than stock ITR, iirc). I'll make a post with the vid if I can find it again.

      Ok, will do. Kind of need to let the bank account recover and get it through shaken before tackling any real mods. Then with some miles and driving I'm hoping to have a good idea of what needs addressed. Project life Steve, be ready for these things to happen
    Hard to get a clear picture of how "big" the leak is on those flanges but if it is not that big you may try a couple things
    1- Double stack gaskets, this has saved my butt a couple times
    2- Exhaust pipe /muffler caulk or sealer
    You could even use both depending on how bad it is, or if you feel like you could try to slightly resurface both flanges using a sanding machine and some coarse grit paper

    • @BRICKHOUSESPL
      @BRICKHOUSESPL  2 года назад

      That's for sure! 🥴 You read my mind as well with possible solutions. I'm not sure if double gaskets will pass but I'm pretty positive the sealant is okay. I think I'm going to do what I can to flatten them but those are definitely plan b (or will be done in addition to it). Always gotta be something!
