Been rereading Republic Commando novels and Clone Wars Omnibuses and I love the snide comments the Clones make about Palps. “Old Slimy” is my favorite lol.
@dmac3183 I wish they would hire people like him and there's so many more on RUclips alone that are fantastic and could make star wars shows movies etc fantastic. But they wanna keep making shit whatever it's uniting the fans and in there hatred so thats one positive thing there doing lollll
Palpatine, “I will not allow this Republic that stood for a thousand years be split in two. My negotiations will not fail.” Me, “I bet he had his fingers crossed and smirked behind the Jedi’s back.”
Thank you for doing this video! A lot of the tanks are so weird as well. Like Echo is still a Corporal despite being an ARC Trooper! I thought ARC troopers were like Green Berets, so Echo should at least be a Staff Sergeant, I would then guess it’s equal to Ranger school, but ARC troopers have more of a command role than ordinary troopers…
I love videos like this, especially with the map and all the sector armies. It’s very interesting to look at a map of Star Wars and realize how thin and spread out everything is.
Speaking on the Legion/Brigade parallel, a part of the reason why this exists is due to a bit of the real-life inspiration for the Clone Wars; the American Civil War. During the war, some notable politicians and wealthy members of southern society would form their own, combined arms units. These would be known as “Legions.” These “Legions” would have a combination of infantry, artillery, and cavalry, meaning they could act on their own as a force, but were usually incorporated into a divisional command. A couple of examples include Hampton’s Legion (raised by South Carolinian politician Wade Hampton III), Cobb’s Legion (raised by Georgian politician Thomas R. R. Cobb), and Thomas’s Legion of Cherokee Indians and Highlanders (raised by North Carolinian politician - and Cherokee ally - William Thomas). They drew their inspiration from the Roman legions, though didn’t reach the size and scale of those Legions.
Everyone misses a key point in the movies- the old republic had no army. The creation of one lead to its own destruction. If you create an army, You will have war.
The Separatist, specifically the Trade Confederation (who were chummy with them) were now infringing on Republic planets right to freedom and trade by blockading Naboo as well as threatening the integrity and union of the Republic with the army. I’d say you are right but at the same time, would you rather your civilian populace roll over. While the Republic had its problems so did the Separatists.
@@DT-vh5yw It's also telling that corporate entities get seats and votes in the Republic's legislation, which is the reason why the Republic was powerless to put a stop to the whole Naboo crisis in the first place
@@benceklock4831 I agree very telling, but they weren’t technically allowed votes and aren’t really different from behind the scenes lobbyists from today. Honestly the fact that the Trade Federation voices its unpopular opinions and wants in the Senate is pretty impressive to me compared to our actual system when they just slide money into politician pockets in legislative body’s and tell em what policies they want.
36 000 clones to take a whole inhabited planet? Tiny clone numbers like these never made sense to me; I always headcanoned it as either there being orders of magnitude more clones than were told there are, or that clones only make up a small elite core of a much larger GAR made up mainly of PSF and local auxiliaries.
Addendum: this is why you finish the video before commenting folks. Apparently the republic regular army is referenced in canon but has frustratingly little written about it. Sad!
Honestly, those numbers are surprisingly small. A whole galaxy having a military in active war that's only on the scale of World War forces is kinda mad to think about
Sounds crazy… but let’s bare in mind not every planet was like Coruscant. Many, particularly rim worlds, only had one or two major cities with small governments and local militia unless the seps sent droids. The planets in stars wars aren’t like earth where you have giant population centers scattered all across the surface of the planet, but rather more like colonies where the “habitable area” or biosphere was located in a specific region. You take that, you take the planet.
@@Lawrence_Talbotyup. Like taking Anchorhead gets you a big sphere of sand. Lotsa planets were set up with a single colony to support a mining operation, for example; along with planets with small, no-tech indigenous populations.

In a lot of ways, the clone commando and ARC armor was like Power Armor. They were super durable compared to standard troop armor, they had a HUD with a variety of tactical interfaces, it also had biometric monitoring, built in climate control, rehydration kit, could seal itself and do a lot of other functions. It could also be disabled via EMP, or rather the HUD and some of the features.
12:28-12:36: So would these top Jedi Generals in Republic High Command just be Council members or important masters too? Heckler: That seems like a very odd and specific question to ask? Me: And that is the ZexalBrony brand. lol.
The larger a government of any kind becomes, the more corrupt and inefficient it becomes on an inverse scale. If earthly nation states become corrupt and inefficient, then any galactic government, regardless of system, is nightmare fuel.

I can already tell that this is gonna make writing fanfiction so much easier. Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏
Wish Disney Star Wars writers would watch a few of these Lore videos, oh and some basic Science videos.
Be careful or Disney may pursue legal action. And I’m not joking, it’s happened several times.

Yeah .. Amedala... The "Pascifist"... That married a top Jedi General an helped run... "Negotiations"... With her blaster...
She preferred talking it out, but she knew when a blaster was needed to get a point across.
She's an American style pacifist, we try to do no harm, but when we do, it's "highly proportional" to quote a certain Fat Electrician
“Aggressive negotiations”

Thanks! Great info.
The structures of power would probably be better overseable with a graphic depiction of some sorts, although this would take a bit more effort.

Yes please, i'd love to see a Galactic Empire Command Structure Video.
Such an awesome video, so much more fun to listen to than read on a Wookiepedia article.
The Grand Army of the Republic truely is insanely small even for a planetary military.
Still 1.8 billion clones though
based on the info at the end of this video. The republic during the clone wars had around 40-50 thousand warships by the end of the war.
Look at the bright side, the Republic being constantly deadlocked kept the senate out of mischief.
Imperial command structure next?

Just remember: experience outranks everything… except for the senate.
Except for experience at political backstabbing.
Brigades can capture entire planets? Lol
I know, 9,216 troops is such a tiny number. That could barely suffice for peacekeeping missions IRL for some countries.

Technically 24,000 years at most, the Republic didn’t have a military until the start of the Tionese war

Did the CIS use ‘organic’ troops, or was their army strictly droid based?
