You will never see a trailer like that again... No one in the studios trusts the audience to fill in the blanks... In a theatre, no one can hear your jaw drop...
Jerry Goldsmith did the soundtrack, besides Christopher Young two of my favorite composers. One of Sigourney Weaver's first films I think she did a cameo in "Annie Hall" shortly before this. The computers may be out of date, but for 1979 this still is one of the best sci-fi/horror/thriller films I've ever seen. Much of the author H.P. Lovecraft can be noticed through the entire film. The trailer still can't be beat. Much like an ending to on particular film "The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford". That film has one of the best soundtracks(Nick Cave and Warren Ellis) as well as endings that I've seen. A little side note on Sigourney Weaver she had an uncle named Doodles Weaver popular with Spike Jones in 1940's both hilarious radio show comics.
The 80s must have been just a trailer wasteland, or maybe all the good trailer editors got all coked out. Because that was a top notch trailer, as good as anything made today.
I know this is why I wanted to share some of my fave movies and how bad some of the trailers was but this one has been the best so far :) thanks for watching

Phenomenal trailer for the phenomenal movie!!!
"In space, no one can hear you scream" is the cinema version of a mic drop
i think Alien was the best of them all and I saw it when it came out in the cinema I wish you guys well and good luck in the future
And THAT'S why Prometheus' trailer isn't PURE genius.
