Tysm for posting!! Finally a Canadian dental student 🥺 Im in my second year of undergrad in Ontario and would love a video on your stats (if you’re comfy!) and application tips (getting a high GPA, interview, time management, etc). I also don’t know about the process after dental school, are you planning on specializing?
Thanks for your message Rosie! I have a couple other videos that details some of the information and my tips about getting into dental school in Canada - check them out! As for navigating post-dental school, I'm hoping to make more videos about that as I journey through it myself! There are general practice residencies (GPR) and specialities (about 10!) you can pursue after dental school.
Hi!! I’m entering my first year of undergrad in biomedical sciences (Ontario) next year and my dream is to get accepted into dental school (preferably UToronto or Western). I was wondering, do dental schools in Ontario look at which uni you went to for your undergrad, or do they only look at GPA/DAT/ECs? Because I would really love to go to UOttawa next year because my family lives in Ottawa and I’m certain I could get a high GPA there, but I don’t want to jeopardize my chances of getting into dental school. Would you recommend going to another uni (like UToronto, Queens or McMaster), or does it not matter? I think I would be my happiest in Ottawa and am sure I could get a high GPA, but I don’t know...😅 Sorry if this was very long LOL! Thanks for your videos, they are so helpful!
Oh gosh I have the same problem as you. I applied to Brock university only cuz it’s super close to home but after looking at its reputation, idk if it has good programs that would allow me to go to UofT or western. Let me know if you get answers😩
Hey Brandon! Thank you for the insightful video. I was wondering if you think that Dental students can incorporate social life and community into their learning - For instance, by inviting fellow students to go so the after-hours simulation clinic together (otherwise, it sounds like a very solitary activity). I'd love to hear your ideas on how dental students specifically can connect better.
Thanks for the message! With any change, things are always scary at first, but it gets better :) . Even though I was really nervous, I felt prepared bc I knew I put in the time studying and work in pre-clinics!
Hi Brandon, I really love your videos because I rarely see videos with Ontario dentists! I'm considering a career in dentistry right now but one big thing that makes me reluctant to pursue it is the competition to open a practice and the job market in dentistry, especially in urban areas (ex. Toronto). Do you have any insight on this as a new grad? How did you find your placements/jobs? Also, do you have any tips for financing your education? Should I just work part-time, find scholarships, and take out loans? I'm mostly worried about if I'll find enough work after I graduate to pay back any loans I take out. It'd be super helpful if you could make a video on these topics!
Hey mate! Hope you’re safe! Could you please do a video on how one should pay the tuitions because they are just too high so I’d highly appreciate it if you could talk a little bit about the feea and tuitions in general. Thank you so much!
Hey Brandon! Thank you for sharing such useful information! I have a question from you. I was wondering if there are any questions revolving around plant biology in the DAT? I’d really appreciate it if you could answer this!
Hey Jude, I can’t recall if there is plant biology on the cDAT. If you go onto the CDA’s website, the breakdown of each section should be there. Goodluck!
Dental school is 5 years in my country (but all 5 years for dental school and thats just it there is no before education) can i study dental school for 4 years in my country, come to there last year and apply to dental school in Canada ? Am i have to give all the lessons in there for all 8 years or is this possible to make what i want?
