In my country we just apply for the school, take one exam and have an interview if we pass the exam, then they’ll let us know. I’m beyond puzzled with all the different requirements and exams. Hi Sandra, I believe CEGEP is only accounted for at the QC dental schools (Laval, UDM, and McGill). Outside of QC, it would depend on the school. • @drbrandondental
      @drbrandondental  3 года назад +1

      Hi Jessry, I never did the bootcamps. I did download and pay for Crack the DAT for a bit - mostly just for the PAT practice. I never used anything else except for textbooks. I used MCAT books just cause I had them. But you can purchase DAT books and study those too. It really depends on your learning style! Many people take classes.

    I hope this isn’t a dumb question but i’m truly lost. So I’m in 12th grade rn high school is going good I got a 90 in biology this sen so i’m not too scared about my marks for applying to uni’s for my undergrad, but you know how in ontario we apply to universities through OUAC? When I’m applying what program am I applying to? I know one of the main 2 courses that uoft requires a full year course for is Biochemistry, and Mammalian Physiology, am i essentially applying to these programs? and for the other additional prerequisites are they my electives? I’m lowkey confused because I know all these courses are general courses and are not meant to be specialized but I still don’t get what I’m actually applying to in the university. I plan on doing my undergrad at ryerson university so would that mean out of those 4 prerequisites one of them is my major and i take the rest as electives? I was also wondering since this is all happening over the span of 4 years. Since different schools require different prerequisites is it possible to do different prerequisites each year? Like western requires org chem while uoft doesn’t would i end up taking org chem as an elective during my 2nd year for example to fulfill the prerequisites? Sorry if the questions sound stupid I’m just very lost and we have until the end of december to submit our uni applications.

    • @drbrandondental
      @drbrandondental  3 года назад +3

      Undergraduate programs differ from school to school. You'll have to do research on which programs you 1) want to attend and 2) if its possible to take and complete the prerequisite courses for dental school. In some more science-based undergrad programs, you'll take prerequisites as part of the program anyways. In order programs, you may have to use electives to complete these prerequisites. Choose a program that you are interested in - that way you'll do well!

      GPA really depends on the school you apply to! For every program, GPA is calculated differently based on what they consider to be part of the application's GPA. For example, Western looks at best two years vs. Toronto looks at every year minus your worst year if you have four of more years of undergrad. For Western, the GPA I applied with was a mid-high 3.8. Minimum competitive is a cumulative GPA of 3.7.

    Do I need to have bachelor's degree to get in dental school or my high school degree is enough?
