I have to listen to beware almost everyday, forever obsessed with Deftones.
Legit my favorite song of theirs.

I like how you don’t interrupt the song and the video feels like a calm podcast.
I think I'm starting to enjoy Deftones more as I get older, they are one of my older brothers favorite bands of all time so I have heard them a lot cause he listens to them at home a lot. Really dig the vibe, this song, in particular, gives off a really surreal type of vibe, and I like that, 3.7

For me it's the other way around. I loved them and now I can barely listen to them. Mostly, because Chino Moreno annoys me. I know he's a very good singer, but his style doesn't work for me any more. I have that same problem with Maynard James Keenan from Tool and A Perfect Circle. Judging by this I should loathe Passenger, because they are both on it...I still like that one, though. Huh.

4-4.5 easily the most dynamic Deftones song I've gotten into. Heard the obvious "headup" and "be quiet and drive" & this was way better. More interesting than most songs off of Gore in 2016. Only Hearts/Wires got its hooks in me from that one.
PS. I'm eating pizza while watching this, I feel personally attacked

came to youtube trying to just jam to the song and ran into this video and watched it just for the heck of it lol I don't know you guys but it's cool to see people listening to music I know for the first time. When the outro dropped and the guys face was like O.O that was priceless.

Has become my favorite band of all time. I super dove into their music in 2019. Was always a fan. Just never dove in that hard. Genius. This song btw. If your curious. Chino said he wrote to himself. "Beware the water" is the self destructive behavior he needs to avoid. Women. Drugs and alcohol. The way I like to look at it. There is a thirst to be quenched. Beware of the water.
This was the album deftones went more chilled with heavy outtro's, I actually think theres some good tracks on it. The last 2 albums are a step more advanced and in the right direction saying that they haven't done a bad album.

Wow, Deftones! I love them! I never suggested Deftones songs because I knew you already knew the band and didn't want to suggest stuff that you may have already heard, but since you said you never listened to some of their songs, here come the suggestions hahaha
From this same album I recommend Xerces, Combat, Riviere, Pink Cellphone (pretty atypical for a Deftones song, but I find it very interesting) and UUDDLRLRABABSELECTSTART, which is the only instrumental piece they ever made (so, no Chino on this one lol). Also, I'd love to see a reaction to Sextape, it's one of my favourite Deftones songs, although you might have already heard it (it's from Diamond Eyes)
Thanks steppre! I know it's weird, but I purposely listed to my favorite bands discography very slowly so I can enjoy, digest, and really listen to all their songs. Hence myself still having a few songs/albums I haven't gotten into yet. Appreciate the recs as well!

I like Deftones, too, JP. The mood and timbre (another word for atmosphere) of their music appeals to me. Minerva is the song that got me interested in them. I still like it, too.

Sorry I ain't been around the last couple of videos, was working a lot and packing/planning for Barry. National Weather Service projected me to flood by today but the storm moved a little west at literally the last minute, just getting a lot of rain now but not nearly as much as projected. I love Deftones but this isn't nearly one of their best songs. Solid 2 I guess? Oh, and don't hate me for this but I compiled a Shnoogleheimer's Top 10, put a lot of time to this and it is written in stone. Like the 10 commandments..... which broke haha ;) Just kidding! Missed you Guys!

For whatever reason I didnt listen to Beware until the past year or so- I would say the deftones have and aestetic I subscribe to. Saturday night wrist was when they experimented with dream pop and came out with some stuff that was more experimental for them. I think beware is a song I can listen to repeatedly, it's very interesting and it's like a self aware fuccboi song- he knows in the narration it's not a real relationship etc.

Another recommendation, which has nothing to do with Deftones, is a song that you probably don't know: it's called Unlocked, and the band is Love in Elevator. That song is pure FIRE!!

The final version (the one who actually made the record, this one you guys just heard) is way overproduced and... idk, protools on it, that it killed it for me. The one they released as a demo (or that ppl found online back then) is 1000000000x times better. Just look it up, Deftones - Beware (The water).

The song was just ok for me, nothing special. The mood the song sets is very easy going and relaxing. I will say the drumming was excellent. The reason I mentioned this is because the pace of the song is really slow, which can be be hard on a drummer to play that slow. I love the slow groove in the manner the drummer plays the song. He finds ways to keep himself busy without speeding up the song. The heavy guitars that come in is a nice change in the mood. This song for me is a 3.0
Justin I noticed on your video reactions, the audio of the song can be muddy and distorted on occasion. I'm not an audio geek so I can't tell you what the solution is. For example, with this song there's a difference if I listen to the actual recording vs the audio of your video. The reason I mentioned this is because a person's feedback on all song you react to can be compromised by bad audio.
DukesRocks i don’t think they’re feeding the raw song audio into the video, their tascam or some variant of mic is recording the sound in the room. it’s playing in the room and on their headphones. you can see in some videos them taking off headphones and listening to it in the room itself.
It saves the trouble of syncing the audio and video in post, I imagine.
@@WitzyZed That makes sense, I just wish there was a way for them to clean it up. Especially with songs that have a heavy bass, guitar and drumming. It's not really a big deal, on occasion I will go hear the recorded audio, if the song gets to muddy.
DukesRocks when it comes to reactions, I’m not picky. (not saying you are). some folks cut songs down or modulate the pitch all over the place, or add an unnecessary echo in the (false) hopes of somehow tricking content ID. I know from past videos here they’ve explained they put well more than bare minimum effort into making sure the video itself looks calibrated right color and lighting wise.
Definitely agree about the drumming and overall mood of the song. Sometimes people may not realize it can be harder to drum slow and keep it interesting.
Hmm, we'll have to look into that for the future. I just listened to the song on this video, then went and listened to the direct source and I see what you're talking about. Ian's right about how our audio is picked up. Thanks for the heads up Dukes!

I don't like this song, at all. Starting to think I no longer like Deftones too much. Chino Moreno got one of those voices that once you fall out of love with them will ruin pretty much every song they are on. I listened to White Pony a while back and I honestly can't say I liked much of it.

Your not a Deftones fan if you don't understand the complexity of their sound and music !!! Deftones is not just a band they are a complete experience in violence sex and ethereal tone in music with many layers of sound that hits you in so many different ways!
