I had braces for a year. Here's the real deal about them:
1. You'll smile differently.
2. Getting them put on and tightened *can* hurt, but for other people, it won't. Mine didn't hurt at all. Ever.
3. Brushing your teeth takes about twice as long *but* DO put in the effort because bacteria can get caught in between the brackets and going to the dentist is a pain
4. Nobody really cares. Just get them. They'll notice for the first couple weeks. You're still you. With or without the braces.
5. You'll get nightmares about breaking the brackets off.
6. Just because you ate what your orthodontist said not to once or twice doesnt mean you'll ruin the braces. Chill.
7. Take selfies with your braces, just do it seriously it feels bad now but just do it you'll think it's cute and just do it ok. nike

Yes! It’s definitely worth it & the process of actually seeing your teeth shift into place is also very satisfying. My motto was also that the time is going to pass anyway so I may as well do something about my teeth. I hope everything goes well for you! 🤗🤍

@@AikoGo Definitely! I'm almost 2 years into the process now and will probably get the braces off this summer. I have zero regrets, my teeth are so straight I can't even believe it, my smile has changed, I stopped grinding my teeth in my sleep, and I'm smiling a LOT more :)) So go for it and you won't regret it! I literally had almost no pain at all, and if I did, it was only for a day after an adjustment, manageable with a painkiller, and that's it. Don't be scared, it's not as bad as you think :))
1. You may get some of your teeth pulled out.
2. You may have gaps in your teeth throughout your entire time with braces.
3. You may take a couple of weeks to get used to your braces.
4. You may sound different after you get braces on.
5. You have to be prepared to get a lot of food stuck in your mouth.
6. You have to learn to chew differently.
7. You must be aware of the foods you cannot eat.
8. Eating things in small pieces is easier.
9. You can get lipstick on your braces.
10. Tightening/adjusting braces will hurt.
11. The inside of your mouth will get cuts all over.
12. Wax (prevents cuts in your mouth) will be your best friend. You will need it.
13. Nobody will care or tease you about having braces.
14. Be prepared for questions from others about your braces.
15. You may change the way you smile.
16. Flossing will be very difficult.
17. Taking care of your teeth will decrease the amount of time you have your braces.
18. Clear bands and brackets will stain.
19. Your teeth will not look as white.
20. Your teeth will make clicking sounds when you clench them.
21. You will feel like your teeth will fall out.
22. Your bite will constantly change.
23. Your face may change shape.
24. Your brackets will break.
25. You should bring lip balm with you everywhere.
26. Things may get behind schedule (ex. the amount of time you need to wear your braces).
27. It is your job to do everything in between appointments (flossing, brushing, wearing bands, etc.)
28. You can chew gum if you clean your teeth thoroughly (though you should go with what your orthodontist tells you).
29. You should bring a mirror with you to see if you have things stuck in your teeth.
30. Don’t wear makeup to your appointments.
31. You will see noticeable changes within the first few months.
32. Braces are very expensive.

hey guys♡ so this is for the people who are getting braces when you go to the orthodentist don't be scared just be relax because i know how it feels having braces so it will hurt a little. some people will be overeacting about braces they will say it hurts alot so don't get it. but in real it doesnt hurt at all.♡ when you first got your braces it will hurt for 2 or 3 days so its better you start eating soup when it hurts but when it stop hurting then you can start eating soft food like rice and pasta. i've done a research on the internet as well that you can eat pizza but you should not eat the crust as it is hard. but please if you think u cant eat pizza you can eat other soft foods. and also when you go get it tightened it will hurt a little but if you stop thinking about how much will it hurt everything's going to be fine. just be relax. and also (you should not eat any crunchy foods when you have braces try to avoid crunchy foods and eat soft foods.) thank you all for reading this hope you feel better and also when you sleep at night it won't hurt and if it hurts continuously ask your othodentist to give you a medicine that will calm the pain. you can sleep peacefully.♡

To anyone getting braces: getting them on is not painful!! For some reason my mind was convinced I was gonna be in so much pain getting them on but the process doesn’t hurt!!
This is so true! I too was worried when I was going to get my braces on coz I thought it would be painful... but I was wrong! What hurts are the cuts that eventually happen in your mouth from the brackets digging into your cheeks 😭 Dental wax is a must 🙏🏼
I think it's different for everyone , it's my third day n it's the most painful thing I've ever felt ,I think maybe it's because the previous week I had teeth removed but for now it's really painful trying to eat a banana is like trying to chew peanuts 🙈I mostly have smoothies

The clear brackets do not stain. It’s just the bands that stain. That’s why I get black rubber bands on my ceramic braces to make my teeth look white.

This is the first day of my hopefully, short journey with braces. You helped me a lot psychologically, as I'm scared my teeth won't change that much. I laughed when you explained your lip habit cause I have the same 'lip getting stuck on my brace' feeling, it's freaking annoying. But for the sake of a beautiful, radiant smile I can get over it! My parents taking care of my braces and all is my motivation to take good care of my teeth and to make sure I follow what I am asked to do. I am truly grateful for them and I won't be taking advantage because braces are really expensive so I am doing what I can to bring back the favor to my parents and all! Enjoyed the video! I was using charcoal toothpaste for 4 years until my dentist recommend I stopped using it, for it's abrasive properties were wearing out my tooth enamel revealing the slightly yellow layer underneath. Just something to note if you use it twice a day and intend for using it for multiple years. You can whiten your teeth to correct the colouring, but once that enamel comes off your teeth will become sensitive and you'll most likely need crowns.

I got my braces a week back and got my 2 pre molars extracted today and it is soooo painful. Your video has provided me so much comfort. Braces don’t actually get “tightened” so no worries. You will start to get thicker wires and it will feel tight for a day or so but that’s all. Sincerely, an Orthodontic Assistant for 12 years

I had 4 teeth pulled out as well, two from the bottom and two from the top. I was honestly expecting a lot of pain cause everyone was like "IT'S GONNA HURT BAD!" but I actually didn't. My orthodontist gave me a local anaesthetic before pulling out my teeth, he also told me to eat the painkillers that he provided me with an hour after having my teeth pulled out (cause the drug takes time to work) and advised me to take the painkillers every 4 hours. At this point, I already have all 4 teeth pulled out and I did not experience even the slightest bit of pain. Now I just gotta wait for my gums to heal before I can get my braces on

1. I pulled 4 teeth out too awake and i didn't feel a thing, it went very good so I guess its just up to the person so don't worry too much.
3. I got used to the braces like in 2 days, I tighten the braces like every 2 months and the first 2 days always feel weird.
6. Always bring a toothbrush (:
7. You can eat whatever you want but you should not chew on big caramels cuz that can break the braces, popcorn is fine to eat. You can also eat sticky things but it might be harder to remove, I eat sticky things but I just make sure it doesn't get stuck.
8. I eat normal, you don't need to eat smaller bites. I don't eat at the back of my mouth, I just bring a toothbrush or remove the food with my tongue.
9. Ive never gotten lipstick on my braces (:
11. No need to prepare, use protection, I used flexible plastic, at least at night. I also used to bite the chin but protection helps with that too.
19. My teeth looked whiter than before braces.
25. my lips didn't change, I used more chapstick before than I did with braces.

32. If you live in a country where its free, if u think u need braces, go to the dentist. We have it for free until the age of 18 and i waited and im probably still gonna have braces when im 18 which means that i will have to start paying for it on my own, i regret i didn't got myself in queue faster.

I’m getting my braces on Wednesday (it’s Sunday as I’m watching this) I got a tooth taken out on Friday and lucky I have a high pain tolerance and it hasn’t been sore! I’m binge watching your videos aha☺️
Awww luckily it’s not painful for you! I know for most people they complain about the pain but I’m the same as you, my pain tolerance is super high 😅
Got my braces today and I'm binging braces videos like crazy!!! It's 2am and I'm rolling around my bed in so much pain, my teeth are super tight together so they had to jam the spacers in there, that's the real killer for me 😭 I also have to get all 4 premolars out soon so there's no wire or bracket on them, I could deal with the pain alone but eating hurts and that's definitely the frustrating part!

The only kinda fun thing is picking your color out. Even putting them on kinda hurts because it feels tight

It’s literally impossible to develop a lisp from braces. Braces go on the from of your teeth, they don’t interfere with your tongue in any way. Don’t worry, you’ll be just fine! Sincerely, Orthodontic Assistant for 12 years 😁

looking back at the video when you first got your braces and now not only your jaw line look more defined and your cheeks look slimmer but also I think ur entire mouth became more receding to the back which will make your profile pics look so much better if you know what i mean

this video helped so much!! i literally took notes lol...anyway getting my braces in about a week 😬😅 i've had spacers (little rubber bands they put in between a few teeth in prep for braces) and they hurt so much. i can literally feel every single tooth in my mouth and i can sense my teeth moving apart 😭😭 it gets better but if you need some relief take some ibuprofen or tylenol and make sure to stick to soft foods! let me know if you all want an update once i get my braces in! ❤️

Edit: I got them tightened again a week ago and I got silver, 🙌🏾😏I just wanted to get something plain with know colour. This time they were tight for a couple hours and then it started to hurt really bad 😖especially on the bottom because I got a thicker wire on the bottom, that lasted for about a week. My teeth are actually moving:)😁
