      @@durdo00 Well that's kind of the point. These moves would be ones that even top human players could not find/wouldn't play, but turned out to be winning moves. So say a sac that Leela plays, perhaps even Stockfish didn't see it in it's eval, but turned out to be a brilliant (and winning) move. Something like that would make the list

      I wish he castled. That would have been the best outcome. And right as he was about to do so, I wish he looked to the audience and simply went, "Hold on, we don't want to teach beginners bad chess habits, now do we. Always castle at the first opportune moment." then offered the handshake. (This goes a bit better if you picture him as a funny guy like Anish so he doesn't just sound like an asshole).

    • @oscheoroset1298
      @oscheoroset1298 4 месяца назад

      Late reply but I would choose castling. Castling to check is such a rare move that doing so would make this game even more beautiful.

    In game #2 You have the exact same combination, as in Tylkowski-Wojciechowski, Poznań 1931, but the polish game happened earlier. Also, it's important to cover what happens after queening, because Rook and a Knight could hold, but there is another tactic, that wins black a piece.

    I agree with #1 but I’ll take Fischer’s bishop retreat over most of these. With his queen and knight hanging, Bobby takes a very active bishop and retreats it to where it too can be captured. Insane.

    • @dimensionalblade2778
      @dimensionalblade2778 3 года назад

      Which game is that?

    • @Qhsjahajw
      @Qhsjahajw 3 года назад +1

      lmao, expected from a newbie, that move aint even hard to calculate in classical time formats, nor is it that unexpected for strong players. Its easy to see that bobby gets 2 minors and a major piece after the following combinations, which is obviously better than a queen, also the fact that the king is weak.
      I can find like 10 better moves by bobby , better than this one

    • @RMF49
      @RMF49 3 года назад +1

      @@Qhsjahajw I can make Shirov’s move sound easy too: “I’m one tempo shy of cutting off his king with my king, then his bishop will be helpless to stop my two advanced passed pawns. So let me get my bishop out if the way with tempo.” Not hard for a strong player to notice and the calculation to prove one of the pawns promote is not that hard.
      Many of the moves in this video are far easier to calculate and more expected than Fischer’s. Plus it’s not all about calculation it’s about not rejecting a move from consideration.
      Why do you bring up the ease of the windmill calculation? That’s not even the key element of Fischer’s bishop retreat. The windmill is only possible because Byrne played a bad reply. Capturing the queen is not even a top five move. There are at least five other variations to calculate.
      Fischer’s bishop retreat on the surface does nothing. It appears to be a one move threat. It attacks a bishop that can simply retreat leaving Fischer in the same predicament as before with queen and knight hanging, except before Fischer’s bishop was hitting the knight and x-raying the rook guarding the weak back rank and now Fisher’s bishop is just hitting air and blocking his own rook.
      Fishers bishop retreat only works because all three of these are present:
      1. It threatens the windmill so can’t be ignored
      2. It cannot be captured due to the virtual pin to smothered mate
      3. It is prophylactic against a potential sac on f7
      If Fischer’s move were not prophylactic it would simply be a one move threat accomplishing nothing.
      So Fischer’s move is unexpected because it is extremely rare to be able to make a prophylactic move when your queen and knight are hanging.

      @@RMF49 great analysis. Fishers game against Byrd is incredible! Jose Capablanca makes chess look very easy with all of his simple explanations for moves not so simple to us average players but that doesn’t mean that Capablancas brilliance’s aren’t really “that” good. If anything, being able to explain it is incredible within itself. Magnus and many other chess greats have Incredible intuitions but cannot explain it to other people, so being able to explain is another feat itself.

      This is the best checkmate possible between two strong players in my opinion. Now for just general play, the most ruthless mate I have ever seen was between Aman of ChessBrah and a lower rated player where he promoted every single pawn (his opponent has only his king left), save one, to all the pieces that had been taken off the board, rearranged them to their starting position, replayed out the ENTIRE game, and when I say this I mean repeated every move he made with each piece (except for one that would have led to stalemate) then mated the guy. There is absolutely no way to top this mate. Hats off to his opponent for allowing this beauty. When I die I'll go knowing I witnessed the greatest possible scenario in chess 😭.
