All these other car channels with 2, 3, 4, 20 cars that I lose interest in over time and Greg over here keeps me interested with the same single car for like 7 years.
Quality t-shirt, quality dyno testing, quality analysis! Well done, Miata Pops, and congrats on making some big boy power. Lets see some drag passes with the newfound top end!
@@JNAMOTORSPORTS power doesn’t matter when greg primarily wants a responsive turbod car, especially in a era where turbo technology is constantly getting better to the point where you dont need 70mm turbos to make north of 700
Boost OUT OF CONTROLLER:))) Such a CPC thing to say I could see you almost cried..after all this time in the driveway and that mouse hole of a garage..insane amount of time and effort you put into car, videos, and always left some energy to entertain. Tha car is sick, everything about it, and sounds sick, so yes, you can be proud. Cheers!
Super video. Thank you! I can just hear your engine talking at 32psi.... Oil: Hey, whats all this fuel swimming around down here? Rings: We're doing all we can, mate! Greg: Screwit! I'm slayin' mustangs!
The 7163 has surprisingly very similar response to 6758. It’s because for the 7163, the inlet turbine the compressor wheel has a hybrid design. It works so well it overcomes the size difference which would normally cause a decent bit of lag. That hybrid wheel solves that.
Seriously, thank you for doing all of this. The most aggravating thing in the world is going to a forum, reading 60 pages, with 0 resolve. You'll have 3 people arguing off topic, 2 battling out saying their set up did X and Y, and neither of them will have definitive data. If there is a way to get you into a research position somewhere in engineering, I'd sign the petition.
That's so awesome. Seeing your car reach levels that I could never hit with mine, I can live through you vicariously. The red car hits 500, my car backfires and stutters if I try to hit anything over 5 psi
@@Das-eq2wk You haven't correct it? Which car did you put it on? If it was a naturally aspirated car, never setup for turbos, most N/A computers will let you get away with up to around 4psi! After that the fuel and timing maps will be way off, it will run too lean and you can possibly damage your engine. The cure for that situation is to get a new chip, or a piggy back ecu and/or a dyno tune. If you are maxing out your fuel system, your looking at possibly a larger fuel pump and bigger injectors or aux injectors or more pressure in the fuel rail, and also have the computer tuned for that.
@@dennisrobinson8008 Im not running lean at all. 95 turbo with an MS3X. I believe its a spark issue because reducing dwell from 4ms to 2ms solves the problem until the car warms up, at which point it comes back. The thing is, I have ls2 coils. The misfiring still happened when I was on stock coils.

Fair play thats crazy fast in a mx5!😆 I can fully appreciate all the work that goes into your videos just for the benefit of us the viewers, nice one! 🤙🏼
Incredible amount of knowledge on just a single video. Took me a lot of time and money to learn this myself. Looking forward to see how the EFR7163 will perform on my FA20 build. Congratulations on that crazy power and lightning fast boost response!
You may want to mount your extinguisher to the inside driver door so when your first reaction is to 'get out,' it is outside already with you once the door is (left) open and you can react.
Job well done I was also curious about those turbos and how they will respond on a similar sized engine. Super thorough, super detailed, super scientific approach to find the difference between them.
I worked through a similar decision process with mine, without the benefit of a clear back to back test, and chose the 6758. The car (vvt engined Mx5) is now tuned comfortably north of 450hp.
Amazing work and amazing results! You mentioned the entire fuel system needs upgrading. When do the hard fuel lines become a limiting factor? I'm thinking of the fuel lines that run between the fuel pump/tank and the engine bay.
Phenomenal video! Thank you for taking the time (and the data logs) to present all this information so concisely. @Alex Kella honestly not sure... never put it on a dyno... been busy racing it as often as possible! :) but it should be well north of 300 at the wheels... I do love the responsiveness of the turbo though...

the formula for the exhaust is (horsepower/10)+35 (in mm) so 3inch=75mm is good 400hp crank for your hp you need 3,5 which is for 525hp crank, for me you need 3 3/4 at least and for this set up. this is the reason for your pressure build up. nice job again keep the hp rising.
Awesome! Just a note, looks like you either misspoke in the video or your article has a typo, but when you compared 0-20 psi times (around 31:41 in the video) from 4500 rpm, you said it was 0.86 and 0.79. These don't match up exactly with what the table in the article says.
