Having a professional cover is key.
But a good design isn't always enough.
It's also important to have your cover align with the bestselling books in your category.
If your cover looks wildly different than everything else in your niche, it's a big risk.
Chandler, I love that quote, "confused people don't buy."
So true. That's why it's vital for your cover to convey exactly what your book is about.

YESSS!!! Thank you for explaining the main goals with cover design. You did a great job explaining it. As a cover designer I try explaining this to my clients as well. I will add, yes "easy to read" for the title but also the visuals need to be "easy to understand." When you start combining too many visuals and too many concepts the cover can become cluttered and start to look like a cut and paste collage. A lot of times our first ideas are very surface level and can be pushed further. It's ok to let go of our initial ideas, especially when they are not working. That's part of the process is seeing how they look, from idea to paper. Your designer is the visual communicator. Let your designer help you brainstorm other visuals and moods that can communicate the same message but in a clear and simple way. There's a lot we can do with colors, fonts and style to communicate the message that are often overlooked.

I think the best takeaway for me in this video was your 3 Points that a Great Book Cover Design should have. 1. Grab Attention 2. Easy to Read and 3. Understand what it's about in 2 seconds. Plus, I liked the part about being subjective by not settling for less than the Best. I did a survey and offered up a vote, and the various responses it led me to do a series. Smile... "Discover The Real You" series of 4 Books. Great techniques Chandler. You're One of the Best in your field of expertise, you and your Wonderful SPS Team. A very proud student of SPS school. But what if I'm a good writer and an artist, I have more fun drawing than writing, But if u say it must be professional than I would have to find someone other than myself.

A good place to look is fiverr or upwork because they know the different specifications needed for book covers
