  • Guan Dao - The 14Lb battle-ready sharpened Guan Dao here is made by Dragon Well with a High Carbon Steel blade, brass fittings, metal staff and a sturdy constructed full tang. Here I am showing you the sharpness of the sharpened edge in comparison to a smaller blade such as the Cold Steel GI Tanto.

    did anyone else expect this video to turn into a "how i lost my finger" video?

  • @Chiinnature
    @Chiinnature  11 лет назад +1

    you can but katana have a different angle and edge, so sharpening method is very not alike, you have to sharpen the whole "edge" that it slanted to.. not like my angle

    So legend has it that Guan Yu invented the dao and named it after him... It is believed that his weapon was 85 - 100 lbs.

    Hi I was wondering were did you get your guan dao. And also where to get a battle ready guan dao?

  • @Chiinnature
    @Chiinnature  12 лет назад

    Yes because they respect their family lineage bond more than themselves. So their family name (last name) comes first and then your name comes after that. It's a cultural thing. We respect "lineage" a lot, that's same to Taoism too. So instead of saying you are John and then from "smith family", you say you are smith family's John. That's how you can put it, and showing that you are humble and respect your family more than yourself.

    Let's see what's on sale next time and maybe a pumpkin or something after halloween? haha! Sure, let me think think .... might do a chopping test on it. I think the edge need some work to be done first though, the factory edge is not sharp enough for my standard. I need to work on that first and get it cut better.

    Hahaha.. I guess it should hurt quite bad when smacked at the butt.

  • @Chiinnature
    @Chiinnature  11 лет назад

    Yes they are good but only if you know how to use them. I have a set too, search "Sword sharpening at home" and you see my video there with the whetstone, it's a very good tool for blades. But for machete, I don't think whetstone is needed though, those you just need a puck to do it

  • @Chiinnature
    @Chiinnature  11 лет назад

    Well you can sharpen anything with that, but it doesn't make sense to sharpen your machete with those stones since they are expensive (the stone). You can use oil stone for that job or the normal "puck" or gardening sharpening tool.

    I have some at the back but then it's hard to stabilize them for chopping. I had a video trying to chop them before, search up the "14LB Guan Dao Sharpen Blade Test" and you see me in the back of my temple doing it, but I can't go all out on that chop inside.

    Does anyone know where I can buy a cheap Guan Dao for practice/display? Doesn't have to be battle ready.

    • @Chiinnature
      @Chiinnature  9 лет назад +1

      +SadeGames there is no "cheap" guan dao, but yes there are some around that is worth trying. Try wle.com or kungfudirect.com?

    • @SadeGames
      @SadeGames 9 лет назад

      Thank you, and I can see some on there which I suppose are 'cheap' like the $70-90 ones, I've seen LARP weapons cost more lol. But these are perfect
