Have been lucky to find this in Italy, distributed by Drago d'Oro in Modena. Expensive, but good quality and beautifully balanced. Takes much of the effort out of training compared to less noble production.
That demonstration at the end was fantastic! Such unexpected grace and fluidity from such an intimidating weapon. I like how you keep the blade close to your body and perform the "head-wrapping" techniques so unique to the Chinese Dao. You can even mirror the same move on your other hand. Hao Li Hai! It seems that most sword enthusiasts over look Chinese weapons. To them, Eastern Swords = Katana. Period. I'm glad that there are people like you promoting Chinese weapons. I like to fight with a folding hand saw and a normal kitchen knife, dual wielded. I build two sheathes for them. The saw, I took the sheathe and have it strapped to my back, and the knife, I have sheathed on my left side. I put a paperweight on the saw sheathe to keep the weight levered just how I want it. I made these at thirteen years old through trial and error, so they are not as well as most people could make them.
I have the cheaper one. The first thing that happened is that the trigger that maintains the blade inside the case has broken. I don't know whether I was too rude at striking the blade against the sheath or if it's really meant to last just a few days (because this trigger is made of crappy material). Since I'm a teacher of TaiJi, your response would be very useful to my pupils. Thank you very much.

Could anyone direct me to where I could find twins of the sturdy broadsword he is showing? I've seen countless Wushu Twin Broadswords, but they all flex horribly like he's shown... Just looking for the rigid type.
Quox I got mine here, www.chinatown-shop.com/en/Double-Sanhuang-p-64.html, they are not made of spring steel, but made of stainless steel, but I can tell you they are rigid and you can sharpen them real good if you wanted to. Also the build quality is as good as the one he showed here in this video. I enjoy them a lot, hope this helps you. I know they are hard to come by. I know that swordsmith668 on ebay can get them custom made, but I didn't ask yet how much they would cost ? have a nice day.
Hello. I'm looking for a half-decent oxtail broadsword - something that will survive stress and cutting tests - Nothing major just don't really like rat-tail tangs - and I'm worried about breakage at the tang if I buy online and can't see the product before I buy - and I would prefer a properly made saber. I'm willing to pay a little more for something on the nicer side (at least functionality-wise) - what would you suggest? Love the channel.
Thank you! This one I show in the video is not meant for chopping and cutting for sure, but the tang is not rat tail and it is a full tang, strong enough to cut bottles and mats for sure, but I don't want to risk cutting things like bamboo or wood though. If you want to pay more (over $500) then you can go with Dynasty Forge and get their braodswords, they are quite good too, built to last and be abusively use!
Dude that form was super cool. What style of martial arts did you study to learn this form with?? I'm considering buying a nice Dao soon because I like their shape. And I like the way they function.
i have the cheaper one, however, mine wasnt stainless, and it could cut, just, only lighter targets due to the flexibility but i did have fun with it..

You do realize that those spring steel blades are meant for wushu competition ONLY. They are in no way meant to be used as a "practical" sword. If you've heard otherwise your source is unreliable (I have been training with spring steel broadswords for about 6 years)
Ryan Phillips I have been training and also teaching for over 20 years, and I have seen people sharpening these spring steel swords for cutting already, it's not the first time I see idiots. Also, practice with a spring steel sword is also the worst idea for a real martial artist. You ever seen people practice with a spring steel katana in Japanese sword art? Why does kungfu need these garbage invention then? because people are lazy to train with the proper weight shit.
Chiinnature A) people who sharpen a spring steel sword like that are really stupid B) they are thin like that not to make them lighter, but in order to make an audible sound when you stab/cut properly in a form. They don't exist in katana form because its a different style. Plus, katana does also have a "sound" when you cut properly, especially if said katana has some sort of hi. All I tried to state was that they are not meant for real cutting no matter how much anyone tries to say they are. Why would they make them both paper thin and unsharpened if they were meant for cutting?
Chiinnature I cannot agree with you more. Personally I think the current concept of Wushu is a total perversion of traditional Chinese martial Arts just like Simplified Chinese handwriting is a perversion of traditional writing. Additionally, what in the hell is so wonderful about making this whopping sound with this flabby sword and what does that sound indicate anyway?
The cheaper version is more for wushu. They are supposed to be extremely flexible and light for speed. Not sure if this a fair comparison because the purposes are different. While the "higher" quality blade is nice, a wushu player wouldn't want to use this type in competition.

I'm looking for something under $500.00 but of a similar quality to the weapon you have demonstrated here. Do you have a preferred store you purchase through? Or am I going to have to travel to china to find a Broadsword worth wielding?
Nope, that's not true, the wushu stuff is even MORE flashy and flexible. This is already the NORMAL kind. The wushu stuff use "chrome plates steel" which is really really really like noodle -flexible type, this one here is stainless steel, and it's NOT AS FLEXIBLE as the wushu stuff. The wushu stuff, you can hold the blade up with edge face sideway and then you see the blade kinda "drop" down on the tip too. This one here doesn't~
Hey Chiinnature, I know I'm going to sound really stupid, but are the swords you buy from Kungfu direct battle ready? Again I'm sorry if I sound stupid
The more popular and adecuated material for swords is the hcarbon steels, 1045 carbon steel have the minimun haceptable carbon for make swords, relatively softh; 1060 carbon steel "cold" steel have a good balance betwen hardness and flexibility; and 1095, a so hard carbon steel, hard to forge, but give a so durable and hard edges and sharps; expert blacksmiths can use 2 different steels for a single sword, a hard one for the edge and a softher one for the back.

Yeah, but aren't those very thin flexible swords mostly for wushu demonstrations because they look really flashy and you can whip them around really fast? Isn't comparing that to a real "battle ready" sword to it a little unfair?

That blade should not be shapen. Its to flimsy and is not designed for cutting impact. this video demonstrate your creditability of martial art and real understand combat weapons.
Try cutting stuff with one of these when sharpened, you definitely have not try it yourself and is super naive. What is human flesh like when cutting by one of these? I have sharpened a "filmsy" steel ruler before using a file and stone, and that shit cuts VERY well even it is "filmsy". The only problem is people are too used to stupid tatami cutting and think that is "real cutting" in real life. No dude, your flesh opens up much easier and faster than that mat. It's just a tiny ouch and you are bleeding already. We are made of real flesh that opens up easily even just cut by paper, it's not that hard to injure people with these "filmsy" blades too.
@@Chiinnature a paper cut is no different if that is what you aim toward with your idiot belief of an argument. It would split flesh and soft object and so will any blunt dull edge, but would it cut thru bone? you do understand that tatami roll mat is suppose to mimic cutting thru limbs cleanly and that is all. The reason you fail to understand my comment is the durability of the blade, to not break and fail and injured your self and such when you swing and trying to chop something up. Most of the blades and swords you have shown are make with shitty welded tang. If it came unsharpen then chance are its not meant for combat uses. Cut a piece of paper by slice a sharpen edge proves nothing about it being a usable edge weapon. Take it and go chop something up and you will see what i mean. Its probably best and safer using a machete. Another thing is slicing a sheet of printer paper mean nothing, if you going test cut like that you better of trying on a sheet of tissue or wipe all sheet for real sharpness. Real sword are not made with SS because the fear of stress impact fracture failure that lead to blade breaking and have a piece ricochet back towards you. Fyi your dao form suck so bad.
@@Chiinnature sharpen with a file? Like really.? Guess its more damaging tearing gash wound than a clean cut. Learn to sharpen a real edge before trying to show off. I suggest with small knifes if you want to truly learn a real skill.
