Guan Yu absolutely didn't create this, he was a general from the three kingdoms era (around 180-270 if I remember right) while this was already in use in the warring states period over 4 centuries before
This is a Performance Wushu prop, not an actual weapon. That's not a blade but a flimsy metal cutout. As Doug says in this video, you shouldn't be trying to use this in combat. Modern Wushu is a dance and not a martial art though, so this is perfect for its intended purpose.
You mentioned that the theories on the rings, they are actually used for when you stab someone for the rings to catch on their intestines. The spear part would also be allowed to rust, so that you could give someone tetanus. Sorry I just know a lot about weapons lol
Wow I’ve been a martial artist almost my entire life and still good nothing on you ^^ but general guan yu is the one who invented the Ugandan tho it was adapted from a similar older weapon :D my guan dao has a dragon :P
Do you use this guan dao martially? Or is it just for demonstration, because that guan dao is not the correct size for you, the blood cup should be to about your shoulder, so that the blade it the correct height that you can control it and not cut your head open.
It's there a way to remove the spike at the end?
I know who you were talking about at the beginning ☺️🙏🏾
Haha yeah
