I love thin-film tweeters (AMT, planar, ribbon) so I bought the GoldenEar BRX with AMT ribbon tweetes.

I love my NAD c298 amp (similar to NAD M23).

I have to agree about SVS having world class customer service. I purchased the SVS 3000 Micro Subwoofer last fall direct form SVS, and just before the 45 day refund period expired, the price was reduced by $100 for a Black Friday sale. I was shocked to find out that I automatically got a $100 refund to my credit card without me even knowing about the sale or without me requesting a refund or having to do anything. I have never in my life heard of any company doing that automatically. BTW, the sub is great and very happy with it.
Thank you SO MUCH for including our presentation (SVS) in your video. I worked very hard on designing it so it means a lot to me personally. And I promise, next year I will lower the volume. We kinda wanted to go out with a bang 😆
Thank you again ❤️
Hey man. Great respect 🫡
No worries, it definitely showcased how loud it can play while being clean
Thank you 😊
Missed this show, thanks for the video. I'll try my best to attend next year! Nice to see you include all types of budgets in your coverage.
For decades, Meridian has been doing what Daniel Hertz is now doing. It won’t catch on to general audiophiles because they love to mix and match components. Otherwise, Meridian would be the most popular brand by now.
@@ianjohnhorwood2605SEAS and Kef drive units are sh@t? You better put on those spectacles next time you "analyze" their construction.
Great job! Saw you shooting at the show, can’t believe you’re running around with a video rig that big and heavy?! Dedication dude!
it's actually only about 25-30lbs since its all carbon fiber haha but yes it does get heavy and sweaty by the end
@@Jayiyagiwhat's are the best dacs ever
@@Jayiyagithat Tilta ring wasn't the best idea imo Hahaha I ran the RS2 in standard config with an extension during the Audiofest and it's much more versatile across those crowdy hallways 😅
@ I have my reasons why I went with the Tilta ring. First is that it allows me to use v-mount batteries to power my monitor, camera, and the gimbal for majority of the day. The RS2 might be more versatile and nimble but that battery won't last 3 rooms and it won't be ergonomic for me since I'd need to have separate batteries for the monitor and camera. (which also means I have to carry around spare batteries somewhere) I shot over 1000 footages just in Montreal... Axpona is a bigger show and I'm bracing myself for it
Well it's damn fine work.
Much appreciated.
A force-cancelling woofer design does not cancel any output from the opposing driver, it only cancels most of the vibration that is caused by the drivers movement. Wave cancelation would only happen if one of the drivers was accidentally internally wired out of phase, then both drivers outputs would almost completely cancel out each other out and there would be no bass at all.
I love thin-film tweeters (AMT, planar, ribbon) so I bought the GoldenEar BRX with AMT ribbon tweetes.

they have a special magic
Thank you Jay, wonderful presentation, you do really give us a feeling of having attended the show a bit.
Great Job Jay! I saw you at work at the show. Very impressive! Thanks and keep it up!
The videography is beautiful! It's how I'd like my sound too, warm, vivid, and envelopes me.
That’s awesome man, keep up the great work!!
Really nice, can't wait to see part 2, and go to a show!
part 2 coming soon !
You're doing a great job. Always interesting your reviews.
Well done JAY ! Great summary of Speakers you enjoyed !
Appreciate your support, Jay. Are you attending The Show costa mesa CA June 7-9? Been in the digital surround arena for 25 years, moved over this year to analog and loving it. Nice work great job providing valuable insight
Hope to see you at The Show!
Cheers
Rob
Great video!
Artist Cloner was definitely one of the best rooms in the show, and the speakers sounded great
I love my NAD c298 amp (similar to NAD M23).
Apple Music
Thanks Jay! I couldn’t make it, so now I know what I missed….. what to look/listen to next time.
You're the best reviewer. Love your content
I was there and was really impressed by the Q 5050. Such a great value
The Artist Cloner Mekanika Speakers were by far the Best-Of-Show !
Very creative and cool looking loudspeakers!
Hey Jay . . . great meeting you and seeing your neat space age camera rig at the YUL show. :-) Yes, the Daniel Hertz system was truly impressive (especially considering the Chiara's small footprint but BIG sound!) along with Adrian's truly entertaining presentation. Agree with you that the Artist Cloner speaks were a miss looks wise - they may sound good but the looks would eventually be very tiring to look at in a normal household and would only "fit in" a warehouse LOL I hope that you will give the planar Diptyque speaks a mention in your part 2 because to me, they were one of the most musical at the show - super impressive bass for a Maggie type speaker and really quite beautiful to look at ! Chers and keep up the good work!
Loved those steam punk speakers
Will need a lot of dusting !
My Best of Show were Emotiva XT3. That setup was mind blowing. Arist Cloner Mekanica is another favorite.
Having heard TAD CE1 as well, I agree with your assessment, the small ones were not in the same category as the larger units, just not linear frequency response compared with the easy listening larger bookshelves.
Q 5050 are great. Thanks Jay
Interesting. Nice.
I was there and was also impressed by the Bryston, Q Acoustics and SVS speakers but another speaker impressed me and many others was the Totem Fire V2… they were definitely on fire sonically and aesthetically.
Just wait till you hear PS Audios new bookshelf speakers, heard them on their tour and I couldn’t believe the sound out of the small of a box
Q Acoustic 💕
What wonderful speakers. Really would love to listen to those SVS speakers.
In the beginning of the video, there is some Audiovector speakers. What is your take on that brand? Not much on Audiovector in the RUclips review space
The Artist Cloner Mechanica is $28,500 CAD, not 20k. It’s on their website.
The intro to the video in slow mo with the espresso machine was sick. I hope we don't lose jay to Hollywood.
People have been doing "coffee shots" for years though
Jay, I’m really hoping you get to review some Bryston speakers in the future. I just heard their Middle T at a local dealer, and I think they might be the best speaker I’ve ever heard. At about $8000 US, they easily bested my buddy’s Perlisten R7Ts, as well as a $13000 pair of Proacs I just listened to. Effortless dynamics and bass, incredible sound stage and imaging, and you can stand up and walk around the room and the sound stays mostly the same.
Hi Jay, what are your thoughts of the quality and value of the SVS Ultra Evolution speakers and their time aligned/ point source concept? Was the sound balanced or too bass heavy with the multiple woofers? Also your thoughts on the tweeter. Cheers from Australia 😁👍👍
I am interested in the Q Acoustics 5050. Please review ASAP 😉
artist cloner was also the highlight of the show for me, if I had the money I would of bought the system on the spot
Best speakers in show for me were the Stein Bobby M : great tones and bass to die for.
Regarding the Artist Cloner room : I may be alone in this, but let just say I was left unimpressed. And by the way, 30k for gigantic fugly steampunk contraptions like the Mekanika is a puzzling marketing choice in my view, but hey, let's wish them luck with that...
Great coverage. Was hoping to see diptyque speakers make top 8.
I don't think they were new tho. this was just for the new products
Did they have Borresen's speakers om display at the show? or any priducts by AGD like Axxum and AAVIK? Borressen's speakers are ones that really impresssed me mightily. Great cover on the show, thanks Jay!
Yes, they had one room, with most (all?) the AGD brands. Sounded great!
I wish I could have attended this year.... REALLY enjoy your videos! Can you tell me the title of the track that is playing in the intro? I really enjoy that style of music. Thanks in advance,.
Great coverage. Did Bryston have prices for their new speakers?
Bryston sold out to Axiom Audio
Great coverage.. Quick question... Isn't Pioneer now part of the Onkyo Denon family? And where does that put TAD if they are the "luxury" arm of Pioneer? Thank you for the time.
30k for plain box speakers with no crossover 😂
Levinson is a financial genius.
... best PR front man ever, made a lot of others, a lot of money.
Active DSP 2-way sounds good - who knew? Its so much more flexible.
recommendation you didn't ask for: could you do reviews and recommendations of lower end gear that the rest of us can buy, stuff in the sub $1000 and sub $2000 range? Your channel is great and at the same time is too rich for most viewers.
Thanks for the guided tour! Re the Hertz "health" claims: I'd love to see the measurable evidence of "negative effects of PCM processed audio on human physiology." Does 24 frames-per-second film projection have negative effects on human physiology, too?
Noce cohesive review...thanks
Ooops...nice
Hey jay can you review the new klh kandall 2 ?? Thanks i know you loved the 1st version
Mmmm can jam NYC happened recently too, I'm extremely curious what he thinks of the double sided tungsten headphones. They are supposed to be a mini hifiman Susvara for $2000.
Absolutely love the steam punk esthetic. Wish something like that was more affordable 🙁
yea they are a small boutique company so it must be hard for them to make anything affordable :/
but once they scale, perhaps...
Nice video. Those crossovers leave lots to be desired. Is an $50 for an air core inductor not possible on a $6000 speaker?
I wonder when spkr grills will be once again, be included in a well finished design?
they won’t.
nobody wants to hide drivers anymore
I dont know them PS AUDIO's sure look good🔥
Made in China 🇨🇳
I seen the advance a110 classic i believe in the intro how was that?
it was just a show off piece. wasn't playing
@@Jayiyagi okay! Thanks for the reply! Lmk when this piece gets reviewed
I went to the Bryston website to learn more about their speakers featured in this video. Unfortunately, these particular Bryston speakers are not listed on the Bryston website, although there are a fair number of other Bryston loudspeakers on their site. Personally, I think it is a big mistake to demo products at an audio show that aren't even available, or at least described on their website with some kind of availability date mentioned.
It looks like model T with rearranged drivers. There's no other useful info that would be in the specific listing as it's all just standard marketing
Montreal 2024 Audio Show - "It took me off by surprise." - Jays iyagi
JAY! SVS was too loud for you?!? I heard your Typhons in THE AXPONA CSS room last year. Dan says you listen at that level all day! I can hardly imagine where unbearable begins for you! 😂😅
Dan and those guys love to joke around. I'd be deaf if I was listening to those levels all day. We cranked up the typhons pretty loud at the show too so I'm not hating on SVS. But imagine like 10-15db louder than the Typhon room.
@@Jayiyagi The Typhons sounded great, even at that level--no distortion, so kudos to you all on the design.
Artist Cloners look like something AI would generate
Wait wait wait… SVS was playing Gojira?!
How come the Fyne Audio speakers are not on your radar?
The problem with listening to speakers at a show is because they have multiple pairs of speakers in the same room, which severely affects the low end and the midbass
But what is so special about the Artist Cloner speakers? Seems like 4 Scanspeak revelator 18cm? and probably 2 Mundorf AMT dipoles. I wonder what they did with the crossover, because it seems very easy to replicate. If you have the money, ScanSpeak drivers aren't cheap
The tweeter is open, each woofers have their own chambers, interesting port design... quality parts... There's a lot going on there and I'm sure I'll find more if I dig deeper. I've already requested a review of their speakers. Perhaps not the crazy Mekanika to start...
@@Jayiyagi Very interesting. I'm happy to hear this because it inspires me to build my own. Seeing this makes me think that it's possible 😁
I don’t remember the details, because I have no expertise, but he said there was something different with the crossovers
Great summary Jay. It seems many names are falling by the wayside. Great to see research and innovation going on. ☮️🇦🇺
That's soooo expensive.🤔😌
Chiara...(italian) Pronounced: Kiara
ah. Shouldn't have skipped my Italian courses! Thanks for the correction
Thx for your great coverage.@@Jayiyagi
Dig the Artist Cloner steam-punk aesthetic, but the inclusion of the coffee shop piping, with pipe caps used as trim absolutely ruins the appeal ... to me.
As someone that's been immersed in the electrical construction industry, as well as the pipe trades, ... the pipe caps misses the mark.
Their use is looked down upon as being junky, sloppy, lack of forethought.
Yeah, it's a niche opinion.
I certainly dig the big exposed coils and elements towards the bottom.
I get the appeal ... that "look" is encountered seemingly everywhere right now. Roastery coffee shops, craft breweries, distilleries. Thinking ... perhaps this says more about me!
Jay, its worth noting your video from capture to submission, is just stellar.
no big speakers like the focal grande utopia in toronto
Florida show the rooms where poor sounding. The southwest fest in Dallas the same eq inc. Tad was vastly better . There where at least 6 systems than one could listen far into music and sound stage.
I like the 500 dollar piece of crap shunyata venom power cable the amp had in the Daniel Hertz lol
Too bad you've missed the room with top Audiovector speakers.
Do you wonder about the future of hi-fi after boomers are gone and no one can afford the products? Will hi-fi die off or will it adapt to the poor generations?
Hifi already exists for regular people. Lavish products for rich people well who knows. You don't need to spend as much as a new car for hifi sound
@@RennieAsh yeap and affordable hifi has never been better. I think the future is bright for hifi. When people ask me these questions I always answer with "music will always exist and as long as it does, so will hifi"
Nice job, cheers! And the word (6:06) for today is en-vel-lupt.
The "health benefits" of non pcm Digital audio... Lol
I guess DAC doesn't do anything
Plenty of "analogue" sounds that can cause stress response!
Far more than listening to my music from digitals files could
Maybe they played crappy music in the tests
yea I'm highly sus about that claim. Looking to check it out soon (hopefully)
Hi Jay, I like your videos; but.... bro, cowboy, dude... you need to learn English grammar.
All the best!
howdy. consider it as a part of my charm.
Have you heard the Cabasse Rialto yet? Very interested!
I love thin-film tweeters (AMT, planar, ribbon) so I bought the GoldenEar BRX with AMT ribbon tweetes.
