  • @StalePhish

What a savage working on it with the body so dirty! Loving the Tesla videos, that's how I found your channel. And this is a like a 12 year old design! Newer Teslas are even more like Legos. I replaced a charge port ECU located inside the rear fender accessed from the trunk, and on the electronics side required disconnecting both the 12V battery and the 400V battery, and all it took was three 10mm nuts and popping off plastic bits, that was it! Then you reprogram the module with the service menu of the car, no fussing around with OBD2 stuff.

Watching at 10:15 - I'm wondering if you can just remove the assembly off the back of the outside to get at that grommet (like you did), then get it out and just pull the wire and connector out through the hole? Then disconnect the old camera, connect up the new and insert the wire and new grommet back into the hole, bypassing the hassle of removing of all that inside trim work? I might be tempted to do an upgrade for the better resolution if I can bypass all that trim stuff inside.

Randy thanks for showing all the steps involved in repairing this Tesla camera. One step at a time and now that camera is working. This is a very interesting process I know more about DIY Tesla repair and maintenance now. The cost of parts was reasonable even in that relatively older model. Elon Musk has a great product here. Electric cost at 10 cent per KW to your charger your cost to own/operate is very low. The car is worth a lot more than $7800....Keep it in your fleet as long as it serves you well. All the best to you.

If you think this is simple construction, you should see the new Model 3. I saw someone adding filters to the 17 speaker dual sub surround sound. The back is 1 part and held in with clips and this spongy but tacky on both sides weather stripping and there was just 1 cable looped around connected to everything. I've never seen anything like it.
