I am a massive fan of the Fallout franchise and this show sent me to cloud 9. A great example of a video game adaptation done the right way. Congratulations and massive thanks to everyone who worked on this absolute gem. Couldn't resist making a quick love letter not only to the turbo-awesome character of The Ghoul played by Walton Goggins, but also one of Bathesda's unforgettable video game franchises.

Agreed. He's also the first character we see and our primary connection to the pre-war world, so one could argue he has equal "main character" status.

I mean, they don't exactly make the apocalypse seem appealing, though. Like it's fun to play and watch, but I'd hate to live in the wasteland surrounded by giant cockroaches and cannibals.

I think that also kind of shows that he's not taking things seriously which explains why he didn't immediately kill Maximus, since he knew about the design flaw.

@@LordSerion Same here and because of the show, that's what I'm doing now. I finished the game a long time ago but there are plenty of side quests and lots of the map I have not yet explored.

When I first saw the Fallout pip boy mascot during character creation 27 years ago, I never could have imagined he was a ghoul still roaming the wastelands.

i love the character contrast of coop and lucy. cooper the ghoul is like if nate in fallout 4 never found his son and spiraled into a low karma evil playthrough while lucy is a fresh level 1 good character. very cool

Cooper being one of the most famous actors in pre war America would instantly being recognized by Dean as his equal as Dean was also a great actor and a famous entertainer too. For Raul, I think Raul would respect Cooper for being a great gunslinger as he loves to be one himself... and also he would respect Cooper for not giving up too.

Broher, if you told me some years ago that they'd make a Fallout series, and it would be one of the best series in a long time, I straight out wouldn't have believed you.
Was so afraid they would screw it up, but they didn't. We could nitpick a few things (but acknowledge that future seasons may contain other elements of the game), but they gave just enough fan service to keep the gamers happy and made a complex and compelling story for everyone, whether they knew the game or not.
Yep I would have said the same thing, haha. People unfamiliar with the universe don't understand how bad they could have fucked this up by leaning hard into every devisive topic in today's society at full discretion from the fallout's wierd universe alone. Amazon learned some good lessons from Lord of the Rings it seems.
It's cool to see people get interested in one of many of peoples favorite games that seemed impossible to make a real world adaption of.
I wish ghouls were a playable choice in fallout. They always struck me as the argonians do in elder scrolls. This show makes that even more of a desire. So many role playing possibilities with this archetype.
Really is a genius idea. We need a new game release with this feature update!
Super mutant or Nightkin(that are sane) might be the Orc version in Fallout universe with strength on the stonk level but speech is dogwater when creating it
I don’t think you should have the option to immediately be a ghoul, you should have to turn into one. Makes for better rp.
Should be a protagonist in the next Fallout. The first natural born ghoul. Sure, they’re sterile from the radiation, but life (and science) find a way 😉
They could the cyberpunk route and give us “life paths” with different ways to start in the wasteland.
the fact that this edit goes from an upbeat song to a sad one at the same time it switches from showing the ghouls projected image to showing his real goals and drive is so good

This series did such a great job with the “show don’t tell” principle it’s insane. The thing with the Ghoul shooting out the billboard tying back to one of the first lines spoken in the first episode? That’s some storytelling right there. I can only hope they keep it up in the next season.

They finally nailed the depiction of a 250 year old human being
In the games, apart from Raul Tejada, Set, Arlen Glass, and maybe a few others, ghouls, even pre-war ones, were mostly played off as joke characters. Prime Exhibit: Vault Tec Rep in Fallout 4. Even a supposed big player like Desmond was very cartoonish
Did you forget about Charon from Fallout 3? That guy is a beast with his shotgun.
The only game where they were really treated as jokes was 4, and maybe 76 but I haven't played that one too much

@@Ata.TeaGargler Grecks wasn't comedic relief, and you get negative karma for treating him like shit. Rotface was supposed to have an entire quest based around him with multiple endings, and even then wasn't a joke and would actually give you good advice. Lumpy is the ONE joke ghoul in Fallout 2. Eric is literally rotting apart, which is why he asks you to fix his AC so the damn flies won't eat his body, that's hardly a joke. Snowflake used to be a stylist in Rivet City til he was treated like shit on run off and took up residence in Necropolis. Oh, and Moira? You can treat her like shit when she ghoulifies and it breaks her. Speaking of Necropolis, would you say all those ghouls are just a bunch of joke characters?
Most of the comedic stuff about the ghouls is directly caused by the player treating them like shit.

It took me a long time to decide if the Ghoul is a good or a bad guy, a hero or a villain. Perfect Fallout character writing! I liked Lucy a lot as well, mostly because she is not a boss girl and instead finaly a female lead with actual character development, but the Ghoul was just too badass and fun to not take the number one spot. Can't wait for season 2 and them traveling together. He is a rough teacher, but the teacher Lucy needs. Meanwhile he needs Lucy and Dogmeat to not be a villain.
1st episode we thought it was just fear and at the last episode it wasn’t just fear but heart break when he saw the bomb drop

THIS SHOW is a masterclass in how to stay true to the source material. Loved every gory, funny, weird and quirky moment of it. I absolutely cannot wait for season 2! Goggins is criminally underrated, and I am so glad he is taking center stage for once ;)

In season 2 how he survived before he became The Ghoul and what made him become that way. I kind of don’t understand why some turn and others don’t . But anyway , his story for those 200 years needs to be told !!!!
The medicine he drinks makes him stay on the “human” side and not turn.
In that scene with the president they talk about it and the ghoul said, I was always good at making money, meaning he could always afford the medicine

Was just thinking about that. Hex is one of my favorite characters and I would love to see him get another chance on the big screen. Goggins would be amazing, that mix of sass, no-fucks, depression, unbearable guilt and western badassery. Plus the good work with the makeup
