I trained with Sensei many times. I heard about his technique when he was "in the zone" or zoned out actually. One day he demonstrated Kata instructing us that Kata without a Zen Warrior mind was just "excersize". He preformed a yellow belt Kihon that made it seem like I never saw a kata before. His gi was snapping like someone fired a rifle in the room. A classmate and I watched him fooling around with nunchucks once when he didn't know anyone was watching... unbelievable.
I trained in one of Sensei's schools for ~20 years. I've been his uke many, many times. In this video, at 4:20, Sensei's uke got a love tap. At 4:27 he got TAGGED. It doesn't look like much, but his groaning kiais don't lie. Sensei is so smooth and fast, he hits like a hot knife through butter. All I could do is smile as I heard his uke's pained kiais - I recall many tender ribs after Sensei's seminars!😂
Once as a Purple Belt acting as Uke I surprised Sensei with a kick instead of a punch(mistakenly). He flinched. My classmates and I were horrified. When the drill came around and Sensei was attacking me, I prepared for the worst. Instead of the dreaded punch, Sense kia'd. I jumped a foot in the air. He and everyone else were greatly amused.
I used to attend one of his schools and met him twice. He's really intimidating but has a good sense of humor.
He possess great skills!

@@johnleonard3806Sensei does have a good sense of humor - and sometimes it doesn't hurt. 🤣
Do you have any video showing basic shorin ryu techniques, such as basic punches, kicks and blocks?
