THIS IS A WORK OF ART
@@banditoexe Thank you, Bandito
I think this might be my favorite of all that you've done!! Looks like an awful lot of work!
To me it almost sounded like you were using a mellotron!
Thank you, Fred! There's a church bell, a mellow choir, a synth pad, a flute, a sawtooth lead, a dr. lead, a pure lead, and a calliope lead, in that order.
You never cease to amaze Craig!
What amazes me the most is your range in vocals that you can do Zeppelin then Toadies then Ween.
Awesome Tele as well!
Rock on 🤘
Thank you, Andy! Very much appreciated.
Awesome work Craig.
Super well done brother.
All the best
👍✌😎
Thank you, Mark!
I've played some of those Pro IIs... Noice!
Thank you, Music Therapy Laz! I can't recommend the Pro2 Tele highly enough. It feels and sounds like a dream.
Great work Craig, that was awesome man 😀🤘🎵🔥🔥🔥
Thank you, Adam!
Good song! Sounds great!
Thankey, sir. Ween are so tragically underrated.
Great cover man!
Thank you, Sila!
@@CraigFlowersMusic Might be sacrilegious to say, but I prefer this to the original. Had me weeping for a bit. Really really good work from my heart.
WOW! Son, you are awesome!
Thank you, mom!
Fantastic stuff!!!
Much appreciated, thanks for watching!
@@CraigFlowersMusic No worries!
Great, as always. I have never heard the song and don't plan to go listen to it. For me, this isn't a cover, but an original masterpiece, and I'd prefer to be none the wiser.
Thank you, Steve!
I agree with the sentiment, but the Argus is one of the absolute best songs of all time and I'd recommend listening to the original
My advice would be to read the story of the Argus and listen to it again being mindful of how the music follows the Hellenic narrative. That is what makes it genius and why I chose to cover it. When Hermes kills the beast and the music climaxes, and it all comes together, it’s a whole other level.
Your comment on Sweetwater is what made me come and check out your channel, you basically said that you didn't need any professional plugins because your mixes are too good. Well, I agree with you in the first half. You can do excellent stuff with REAPER'S stock plugins. But this mix sounds amateur. I basically don't like the sound of the snare drum, and think there's a lot of frequencies that need to be EQed out. Also when it comes to the levels, your vocals need to be a bit louder. And also when the synth comes in it's basically taking over the whole production. I like the song tho and you're a talented musician!
Thank you, Le Chapeau! *edit: The following is not for to argue; it's there to inform other listeners reading through the comments . . . As for the frequencies you're hearing in the snare, I used an exciter and dialed that IN. I tuned it to a high E so it wouldn't be dissonant, and it's there to evoke a whip cracking or thunder. For setting. And as to the synth being too loud, apparently you've never heard the original song. Now THAT is too loud. I put that synth in a couple decibels higher than I would have liked to, specifically because of the original song's mix imbalance right there. And as to the vocals being too quiet, that's the only point where we'll have to agree to disagree. I will say however that I did not do a good job of gluing. I like the master compression on the acoustic instruments, but I didn't put it on the master track unfortunately. I can't remember why, but I bet there was a reason, considering that although I only spend a day recording (everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, on this song was done in one take, which is typical), I then go on to spend a couple hundred hours in post-production. My mixes are what I work hardest on, by far, and they've been highly praised by none other than Justin Coletti. So don't go thinking I simply didn't hear the frequencies in the snare; rather ask yourself why I made that decision and whether it works for the mood and tone of the song.
