@homeagent So, how's the HDR .50 holding up? Has your opinion changed in any way since your initial purchase? I ask because I had recently purchased a Sig Sauer MCX .177 semi-auto pellet rifle, returned it next day as I realized how expensive it would be buying the 88g/90g co2 cartridges. Later THAT SAME day (of return) I start stumbling onto a bunch of videos on YT of people having problems with that same pellet gun basically turning it into a $200+ paperweight. Interestingly enough, I had also purchased a Sig Sauer P356 BB gun (at the same time of initial purchase of the MCX) and while I loved how it felt and shot that BB gun stopped working the day AFTER I returned the MCX pellet rifle! It didn't want to reload after a shot and when it did reload it was triple, quadruple, or 5-iple (don't know the actual word) loading as it would spit out a bunch of BBs if it did shoot. Some videos say it's because the user slowly squeezes the trigger and then depresses it before firing only to squeeze the trigger again, thus refeeding the chamber, but I never did that. Long story short. While I personally love the weight, feel, function, and even sometimes operation of a Sig Sauer BB/pellet gun, it seems the quality of longevity in their BB/pellet lines are really low. I would hate for something of that nature be in common with the HDR .50 a short while after purchase.
Thanks by all your efforts even after such huge catastrophe, my friend, very good to see you're well. Keep up this beautiful job. All the best, from Brazil.

Suggestion for a video - please ignore if you've already done this, because you have a lot of videos and I haven't seen the one I'm thinking of yet: I would love to see an analysis and comparison of the durability/reusability of different types of ammo against different types of targets. I'm thinking rubber, rubber steel, nylon, aluminum, etc. against soft (gel or styrofoam), medium (wood), hard (steel plinking target). That sounds like a lot of different comparisons so you might have to break it down into several episodes. I'm sure a lot of us are budget minded and want to get the most out of our ammo, so it's good to know this before going in and investing in a large box of one type or another, since like anything else it tends to be cheaper in volume. Keep up the good work!
Hey man, thanks a lot. That’s indeed a great idea to add to my very long “videos to do list”. But it also reminds me to be more consistent in showing the projectiles’ status after shooting them. I do it often, but not regularly as I should. Thanks a lot my friend, keep them ideas coming ;)
Thanks a lot my friend! Hmmm we’ll see about that hahaha I think it’s easier that I give the molds out on a “givaway” than me actually using them. Best that I stick to shooting videos :)
@@AirgunAlley Think about it :D You might end up as the "Demolition ranch" of Airguns and maybe get your own line of "alligator slugs" or "Florida man slugs"
Thanks again for your entertaining and informative video. Glad you used a couple of different targets for demonstrating the damage. I would like to request that you also do a meat target a la the Paul Harrell RUclips channel using pork ribs, oranges, and a few layers of t-shirts to show penetration or damage, and also please mention how many projectiles can be shot effectively using one co² canister. I know that using Paul Harrell's meat target might be a little bit of a problem if he doesn't want you to, so please make sure to ask permission first. I've been shot by my friends using paint ball markers with paint balls, and air soft bbs before, always while wearing clothing and protective gear. But I have never been shot with an aluminium or steel bb and am wondering if it would do any real damage at a low joule setting. A coconut shell might be about the same thickness and density as a skull but what would happen if you shot a few cushioning layers of clothing first before hitting muscle and ribs? The reason I am asking is because I figure that anyone who would choose to buy a non lethal or less than lethal option, would most likely not aim for the head, for fear of accidentally killing, or out of precaution. Thanks again for a great informative and entertaining video. Stay Safe, Be Well, God Bless.
Hey Ken, you make very good points and thank you for the suggestions! I’m hoping to eventually have access to proper ballistic lab dummies, which would truly help answer a lot of questions. And you can put clothing on top of it, which helps! Fingers crossed those brands will hear my cries and send me some prototypes!
Loved your video. The devastation that you saw first hand of Ft Myers. I can't imagine the horror those people experienced. My heart goes out to them. Dang, it looked like a war zone. I hope the people can get their lives back in order as soon as possible. I'm sorry about what happened to your gun. It seems the guy who does the upgrading is going through some rough times. I was actually considering sending my gun out to him, but decided to keep it stock. I find it powerful enough as it is. That was nice of MCS to supply you with a replacement. That was very big of them. Glad to hear that you are going to use the stock 11j gun for your demos. I'm sure your audience will appreciate that as much as I do. Those steel balls are awesome. Do you think that they are better than the devastator rounds, or equal to them? From the variety of what you received, the upcoming videos should be very interesting. By the way, I hope the move into your new home goes well. Looking forward to your new videos. I wish you well. Thanks so much, and take good care.
Once again thank you so much for your kind words and support!! That’s it! Just got some aluminum balls for a MUB 50. The rubber steel balls are not feeding well so trying something different. I still need to try them and hope they work. My girlfriend has an HDR 50 11j so I'll give the rubber steel balls to her.
Awesome!! I’m actually coming out with a video tomorrow where I tested some veeeery cheap awesome 50 cal aluminum balls found on Amazon. I hope yours work in the MUB 50 and good move on giving your gf the rubber balls, you never know if she gets very angry at you one day 😂😂 JK
Great news that you seem to now have a much deserved sponsor. Not so great news about what seems to be a con man ripping you off. Anyway, from a selfish point of view I'm pleased you have an 11 joules version, which is more realistic for many of us...especially in Europe. We can relate to that rather than the super high powered models. So pleased you avoided the worse of the storm. Keep safe and continue with the good work.
Hahaha! Absolutely! So now you know what to answer when they ask you: “what would you bring with you on an island, if you could only bring one thing?” 😂
my valve got stuck when pin opens it hit the aluminium ball But it got stuck in the drum, original drum. In Tuning drum they doesnt fit. what can i do? they fit too tight. i have loaded a drum few days ago and wasn't able to push out with my fingers only with screwdriver because to tight...
Liked and subscribed! I recently purchased a TR/HDR 50 with the 11 joule upgrade. I just also added a Riot Balls threaded tuning barrel with the extension. I am not using the extension as of now. Should the Riot Balls barrel without the extension increase the FPS due to the tighter tolerances? Really enjoy the videos! Keep up the great work and good luck on the new location!
I'm kinda wondering if the speed trap is too close to the water and that's causing all the errors I've seen in your videos, not sure if it's that close due to spacial issues etc, but it is fun to see, this one didn't seem to have as many!
Good eye my friend! So the water is definitely not the healthiest thing for it, but…. the error messages are actually do to low light. The alley is right under a big tree and if it’s cloudy… I just get ERR after ERR. Now that I learned, I only shoot through the chronograph when the sun is blasting, and I get 99% readings! :)

Which type of balls are best for home defense to combine with some pepper balls? Which are most painful/doing most damage between rubber, plastic or aluminum?
Hi Stefan, I would definitely go with aluminum. They are strong and light! The steel balls are also very good, but only at short distance. They’re very heavy and lose energy quite quickly. In the next few weeks I should be able to test the whole variety on a ballistic dummy. That will tell us a lot :)
Alright mate 👍 sad times about your guns what other guns did he have of you . hopefully he is just going through a bad patch and you get them back . Sad times with the hurricane leaves so much destruction behind one thing I am grateful for living in the UK we don't get them . Without a doubt I say the 68. Not only is it a bigger caliber, it’s also a newer generation and you can feel it. The 68 def has an extra punch to it. Ideally I would go for 16j version (which sadly is the hardest to find in many countries)…
Hello my friend! Yes the HDR 50 is great! And you are lucky because the aluminum balls are actually among the most effective ammo for this gun. So you have the right bullets :)

@AirgunAlley After reading the reviews, it appears that there are problems with the size for the uramex less lethal arms. I looked at bulk and contacted the manufacturer, and they said they make 12.7mm and 12.55mm diameter. The problem is the tolerance for both sizes. They have a plus or minus tolerance of .1mm (.004), which will cause issues. Thanks for the help.

Hey Mey, that is a great question. I honestly don’t know what the deal is. I hope to have a nice chat with MCS soon, so far it’s been very quick emails and they’ve been very nice to me. I have some ideas I’d like to run by them, so again that should give me the opportunity for a more in-depth conversation with them. Will ask them about this and also clarify on the HDX 68. But they were selling them & had them in stock?........ I got one a week ago, I think 4 rounds kinda suck but the others are kind of big, I haven't tried it out yet cause I think it's too loud for a apartment, I have to wait till I go to my relatives house, I would depend on pepper balls, not nylon or aluminum cause a crazy druggie or mental mite not feel it, even if it's 40 joules, there are times fire arms take 5 shoots before they drop cause they body can't feel it, so peppers to face it's probably the best with 7 joules to keep from having to deal law and going to court.

Also, from what I've seen, the aluminium balls are as damaging as the Cordodo 9mm rounds and in Europe at the moment, the aluminum rounds are sold out! I have some Cordodo 9mm on order and will save them for a rainy day.....😉😉
Mitico! Another nice vid. Good luck on the new house.
Thank you very much!! Fingers crossed!

Love the video bro 👌 Worth a re-watch
That’s awesome! Thanks so much 🙌🏼
Great video! I am really looking forward to seeing some homemade slugs from you!
A blessed New Year ahead Monami ❤️

It should, but not sooo much.the stock barrel is really sh...also your accuracy should be better with the tuning barrel.
Thanks a lot Ryan, truly appreciated! I agree with Sven - that tuning barrel really gives it that extra kick!

@@AirgunAlley Thanks for the reply. This test would be interesting, could you also include some .43 caliber balls in the test?

Oh man, soooo much to shoot!! Can’t wait! See you at the next one my friend :)
Very interesting👌
Glad you think so!
Out of the box not modded, which would be the best out of the HDR 50 and 68?
Without a doubt I say the 68. Not only is it a bigger caliber, it’s also a newer generation and you can feel it. The 68 def has an extra punch to it. Ideally I would go for 16j version (which sadly is the hardest to find in many countries)…
Can you mod them 68? The same way?
Are the aluminum balls from riot balls the same thing as you got
Yes, they are very similar.. almost identical I would say

Hello my friend! Yes the HDR 50 is great! And you are lucky because the aluminum balls are actually among the most effective ammo for this gun. So you have the right bullets :)
@@AirgunAlley yea... there's a gun shop Who started to make those aluminum balls and they test everything and they came with a conclusion.... aluminum balls size 12,4mm is the way to go on hdr 50... and 12,2 on hdp and ltl alpha .50

Great video. Can you tell me what the 50 cal aluminum balls actual diameter is with a pair of calibers?

@AirgunAlley After reading the reviews, it appears that there are problems with the size for the uramex less lethal arms. I looked at bulk and contacted the manufacturer, and they said they make 12.7mm and 12.55mm diameter. The problem is the tolerance for both sizes. They have a plus or minus tolerance of .1mm (.004), which will cause issues. Thanks for the help.
Halo sir how many mm the aluminum balls because here in the Philippines difficult to find
hello my friend ! any idea why the 11j from mcs are ex 7.5j modded to 11j. they all have the "F" in the pentagon ? if they modded them why didn't they just crank it to 11j instead of leaving open chamber and flirt with 20ish joules
Hey Mey, that is a great question. I honestly don’t know what the deal is. I hope to have a nice chat with MCS soon, so far it’s been very quick emails and they’ve been very nice to me. Hello my friend and muito obrigado! Absolutely, these launchers are a great substation to firearms, especially in countries where firearms are not widely owned.
I believe the most effective projectile to use is the peppeball. I personally like to alternate various types of slugs in one magazine, that way you can cover a larger range of scenarios.
Don’t worry about the devastators. There are many similar types being homemade nowadays. Maybe you’ll find someone in Brazil that makes good slugs. And I’m sorry about the costs!

I wonder what fps u a get out of a hdp 50cal compact 7.5 joules using 2.8 gram aluminum balls
Good question and great timing. I just reviewed the HDP 50 compact yesterday (video out next Sunday). I shot 1g rubber balls and got 415 FPS (around 8.5 joules). I’ll be testing more ammo in the upcoming videos….
Haha that’s exactly what I said in the video 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 pepper balls are the only true effective ammo for this gun and many like it !
