    People should stop being so mean you are getting a tutorial on how to make something beautiful with tje tools that she has be greatful with what you get and if you dont like the kids on the back grounf or the tools she is using or tje way her nails looks is her life weather she bits them or not is her business stop all your complains and petty lives and be thank full that she is doing this. Shelly, this is the first of your videos I have watched as I plow through the myriad of jewelry makers and artist. I have certainly watched content creators that are more polished but I have none that are any more caring about getting correct information to the viewer, including the pitfalls that await the beginner.
    This video will be saved so I can find it for future reference. Thank you so much.

    Yours is the very 1st video I am watching about the process of working with sterling silver wire and I am sooo very glad I decided to click on it. You’re at-home feel plus the uncomplicated tools you are using is exactly what I needed to inspire me further.
    I became disabled at the age of 45 (about 10 years ago) and so, unfortunately, I haven’t physically been able to hold a job as a result. I have always wanted to start my own jewelry making business (VERY small time, lol) and since my youngest son is now in college, this is probably the best time to try.
    I’m not sure exactly how much I’ll be able to accomplish but anything is better than nothing.
    Thanks 🙏 sooo very much for uploading. I really like your style of teaching and I really look forward to checking out your other videos on this subject. ✌️💞

    It's beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise! So glad to see you showing us and explaining in various ways as so many videos go too fast or they don't explain the 'whys'. I can't wait to watch the other videos about soldering and removing the dull colour. If you make another video please could you do one talking through the equipment needed and its various names and any links to good suppliers… it would be useful knowing what is the bare minimum and what to buy if I got a little bit more proficient. Your ring is awesome!

    Thanks Shelley, I ran into a sweet girl while buying a dapping block last week.
    She said she wanted an Infinity Ring! She is a 3x survivor of colon cancer. I really like the way you took the time to show the right way to make this ring, as well as the difficulties we could run into! I pray I do this ring justice as you did.

      I sure will..I haven't had the chance to get going on it yet. My grandkids are here for Spring Break. I'm teaching them forging and annealing. They are making copper cuffs and we are about to engrave their names and patina. Fun!!
      Yes cancer sucks...my daughter-in-law is a 2x survivor and just found out they did not get it all. She has another go round with chemo.
      But both these women have amazing strong spirits.
      Thanks again Shelley..I hope I can give back sometime like you do with your tutorials. Not all are as willing to share their gifts as you are:)
      I'm scared to be in front of the camera..lol.

    beautiful piece! thank you for sharing, Shelley! couple of video hints: please use "down through" and "up through" -- it's much clearer instruction; watch out for excessive repitition -- like advisng us to practice on lesser wire over and over -- it's distracting and wastes time; be more concise -- know and trust your instruction -- eg, decide if your method is to start 2 sizes smaller OR 3 sizes (not both) and go from there. thanks again!

    • @zinktim
      @zinktim 9 лет назад +1

      +Bob Giammaria dead soft is what you want to get so its easy to shape use hard solder, then shape it, and then heat it up till its bright red and drop it in ice water which will make it hard so that it doesn't bend during polishing.

    • @zinktim
      @zinktim 9 лет назад

      +Bob Giammaria also I recommend 20 or 22 gauge wire so its a bit stouter as a finished product.

      Seeing how the wire had firescale after soldering, i would say it is most definitely Sterling. Fine silver would not get fire scaled like that after being fired/soldered. But i don't think she mentioned that, or the length of the wire she used.

    A raw hide hammer should be used for the forming of the ring, metal will gouge your silver, it will still work if you go lightly enough but for beginners out there they will not know this.

    This tutorial teaches how to use all the WRONG tools to make this. Round nose pliers to pull the silver wire? This will just result in denting the metal. Using a flat head chasing hammer? Again marking and denting the shank. Use a rawhide mallet and never use round nose pliers to grip and pull wire!
