Reminds me of my great uncle now sadly long gone , I could watch him for hours fixing up his old cars Sadly we live in a throw away world, but we all know that great feeling when a cheeky bodge actually bloody well works
i worked in the Middle east on oil and gas projects and the tradesmen were from India, Sri Lanca, Philippines and they could make anything from nothing they were better tradesmen than the so called UK supervisors you told them what you wanted about 10 of them would talk about and they would make it for you with great skill.
The first machine you didn't know what it was, it was a shaper, the top part slides back and forth and the bit at the front end where the vice is that the cutter goes in is called the clapper box
Even in the uk Subaru parts are difficult to get quickly if your not in the right area. I fabricated some exhaust pipe flanges & welded them in recently. Gets the job out the door (& they were stainless steel!)
Hi Allan That was amazing seeing someone making a part and not ripping of the customer like in UK. Are staying g their for good mate you look you enjoying it has their been any cold days do you have winter or just warm sunshine all year round great video 😂😂😂 Phil in stoke UK
Hope you got a matching pair of those new bushes for each side and got your wheel alignment done too 😜. Skillzz. Like how everyone finds a solution to any problem!
Great video, Alan! It's great to watch skilled people at work. These folks will survive when the supply chains break down - just like the Cubans have done for decades.
Alan, they are brilliant man. Like you say, true mechanics. I can remember a time when the local garage could make you a new throttle cable. Things that the modern day 'Fitters' cannot do these days. Well done Gentlemen.
Just asked my wife about this and she has assured me these types of garages are very normal in the Philippines. They are cheaper than the main dealerships that's why a lot of people go to them.
I would probably say the genuine bushes are better, however the jury is out on these rubber bushes but it got the arm fixed for now and I guess time will tell
The machine at 10.20 is called a shaper. The tool goes in and out in straight strokes like a wood plane but for metal. I used to use one called a planer mase by Stirk back in the day that had a 3m stroke where the tool stayed still and the table went up and down.
genuine Japan made torque rod bushing costs 1,700pesos plus had to travel 90km in Bacolod to purchase. we just also DIY fabrication from the junk Payloader tire and its more durable than genuine. Can survive at least 2 years of sugarcane hauling season from at least a load of 15 tons of sugar cane.. 😅
Just had to change two rear bushes to get through the MOT, on trolley jacks with sweat dripping from the head. Not sure that they would have accepted a repair job.
there are lots of parts suppliers but they only sell basic filters etc, not a comprehensive choice like you get in England at motor factors so as in the case of the Subaru, it would be a main dealer to get an arm
@@alan4xthere stupid expensive we had a Subaru Forster come in that the arm had snapped on pulled the driveshaft to bits so it was a new driveshaft and a second hand arm cause of the cost and am pretty sure the wait time for a new one was a while as well

The eastern countries they fix what they have and don’t throw out old parts for new. Very impressive what they can do. ❤
I ❤the people out there alan and the way things get done

I remember my dad doing things like that. But as you say, it is rare to see this now
Great to see the wheel nuts properly torqued up. Proper job 👌
Great vid those lads have got talent 👍
That mystery machine is called a "shaper" :)
I loved the look of that rubber do you think it is better than the plastic ones some cars came out with.
I would probably say the genuine bushes are better, however the jury is out on these rubber bushes but it got the arm fixed for now and I guess time will tell
The knocking may go but you will get more noise as the bush is likely harder than the stock one.
Mechanic not just a part fitter👍😂😂😂
Roadside perfection👍
Legends
Brilliant
Unidentified machine is a metal shaper
thanks

Lemferder нервно курит в сторонке😅
Machine looks like a shaper. Abom79 has a big shaper

It looks like if you gave them the right equipment they would be able to bilding you a new car
Just had to change two rear bushes to get through the MOT, on trolley jacks with sweat dripping from the head. Not sure that they would have accepted a repair job.
When you thought you,ve seen it all!
That machine is a shaper.
ha looks like my shed
Are there any aftermarket parts suppliers in nearby town/city?

yes Subaru parts will be expensive but especially from a dealer. Glad I had the bushes fabricated if anything just for the content lol
@@alan4x it made a good video that’s for sure
What I do is rock the car side to side by pushing on the roof or grabbing a tire and try rotating it forwards.
Now we are talking, a real video! but I have to say that your wheel alignment is out, way out...
Quick mend,
Ye make nee money dayin it right🤷♂️
If you get 2 years now out of bushes ball joints bearings etc you've done well, everything is made cheap and nasty it's a throw away culture.
