    Great review! thank you! I consider buy first smartwatch for crossfit and swimming and have some questions:
    - what do you think about design of GTR for sport like crossfit? I mean it looks like very subtle for training with weights, steel etc. How do you handle with bezel/glass/buttons for maintain watch in good condition? Smartwatches need protections for crossfit? Or you don't think about it?
    -how it's measures your trainings? It's auto detection of moves or you need some hard setup for every exercise? Do you need press start/stop buttons for every lap/set of exercises?
    Thank you again and for reply in advance!

      Hey! Thanks for commenting. I would say it’s a great watch for the price but not accurate enough for CrossFit due to the lack of connectivity to a heart rate chest strap or arm band. It’s a beautiful watch and I like to wear it during the day, but if you get for WODs you’re better off with one that connects externally bc you can take the watch off for wrist wraps or hand straps. I would look at the Garmin 245 or polar ignite.

    Great review! This Amazfit is a real contender to Garmin & Suunto. At this price point I think I am leaning towards the Amazfit GTR3 pro which has even a better display . What’s not like ?! Keep up the good work mate. I like the fact you are reviewing these new players in the market and not just the major brands. All good healthy competition.

      @@fitgearhunter I has an Apple S6 which was great but I am now after the classic round shape. I have a Suunto 9 non baro, but my eye is on a Suunto 7. I like the display and looks. I do casual 45 minutes runs with HR zone and some push up and arms dumbbells workout.

      @@Ajajambo I really love the look and design of the Suunto 7 but it is terrible for heart rate accuracy and cannot connect to an external chest strap. You really have to look elsewhere unfortunately. :/ for the price maybe this is the right fit if you want the AMOLED style screen, so maybe you are on the right path! Either that or go with the Fenix 6 pro or better because the brightness controls on the Garmin watches allow you to make it considerably brighter than you would have experienced on the Suunto 9

    Hey buddy, you know when you mentioned HRV and you said it was 19, does that mean 19ms wich sounds very low for someone who juts woke up or is it just a stress level scrore. I must say you are spot on about this watch, it's excellent tracking my training load and recovery time very accurate. I am disappointed with their stress tracking though. Its simply useless, it will only work if triggered manually or during sleep. Amazfit claim it will track every 5 minutes. That's not true, I think they need to scrap this and replace it with a body battery like Garmin and Suunto. What do you think?

    Great review, Hunter. This watch kinda came out of nowhere for me, and based on your review, I'm giving it a go. I am finding that the more I use it the more I like it... Kind of a Venu 2 plus added performance metrics... Or put another way, a Venu 2 minus NFC. Anyways, I'm pretty impressed with how solid the tracking is on this thing! The Zepp app could use some refinement for sure, but it shows some promise. Thanks for introducing me to this one.

      @@fitgearhunter I have only been wearing it for three days now (still have 60% battery remaining on the first day's charge--an added bonus) so only three or so workouts, so still early days for me. I will keep an eye on it. But head to head, with the GW4 on my other wrist, it seems to be much more accurate, in terms of hr and step count, and even sleep. Also, I have a pretty dumb personal, subjective criterion: does the workout screen look good, and give me meaningful info at a glance? GW4, kind of meh. GTR 3 Pro is better. (Nobody beats Suunto 7's though, in my book!)

      @@Ajajambo I really like the GTR3, and its PAI score. But, it doesn't flow really smoothly through to Google Fit (which for me is a must have for reasons), so that is kind of a bummer. Also, with recent updates, while the overall experience with the watch's features have improved, the HR accuracy seems to have actually gotten worse. :/

  • @rickinjax2330

    Is your GTR 3 running the latest watch firmware? Another reviewer mentioned the heart rate accuracy improved dramatically on his GTR 3 watch after he loaded the most current version. I have a GTS 2 mini, and I like the watch and the ZEPP app, but the heart rate is all over the place, usually off by 20 bpm or more, making is virtually useless because it cannot be trusted. I'd be very interested in this watch if the heart rate was consistently accurate within a few bpm, but peaks where a chest strap shows a valley would be a problem.

    • @fitgearhunter
      @fitgearhunter  2 года назад +3

      Hey! Yes it’s raining the latest firmware, and it really has followed the workouts well, always overestimating the heart rate but getting the time correct and the heart rate sound has been more accurate. In my last video that I just did two days ago where I compare it to a bunch of other inexpensive watches that are available I updated the heart rate accuracy details and it has continued to be good. It’s not perfect by any stretch so it really should be an option only if you can’t afford a more full tilt watch or truly just want a pretty screen at that price point. And I have seen some videos but the one video I saw raving about the accuracy after an update was just someone doing a jump roping session and focused solely on the average heart rate across the whole work out rather than looking more specifically at the watches ability to capture higher heart rate zones, which is more relevant to calculating training load or training effect. That reviewer wasn’t really doing quality analytical review or diversity of exercise movements. Hope that helps!

      @rickinjax2330 2 года назад

      @@fitgearhunter Yes, that is very helpful. I don’t have money to burn, but HR accuracy, and showing the ups and downs of interval training are my primary concerns. Would you recommend the AW7? Or, is there a better fitness oriented watch with accurate wrist based optical HR tracking. I do lots of different sports and workouts, and I’d also like to track HR while pool swimming. I hear that the AW6/AW7 HR works well in water. I have a chest strap, and the Polar OH1 for swimming, but I’d prefer a wrist based solution.

    • @fitgearhunter
      @fitgearhunter  2 года назад

      That’s tough. I’d honestly say the Venu 2 because it’s so much more superior in all of the wellness and sleep aspects. It lacks training load, training effect, and recovery time but I’ve found the gtr3 to be way overestimated in all of those areas still, so it’s truly as worthwhile

    • @fitgearhunter
      @fitgearhunter  2 года назад +1

      Yes for sure on exercise tracking, like 100% for sure - whoop 3.0 isn’t good unless worn on bicep. But on sleep analysis I think Whoop has the upper hand. Plus their conceptual design is a little bit more effective for the things that they focus on. But if you want a good all around excellent screen, excellent battery life, less expensive solution watch that also tracks some of those of the things the amazfit GTR 3 is a great solution.
