A commentator stated, that: "...If you can rock 65,000 people in a concert 27 years after your death and without being there, you are not just a singer, you are a legend."
Green Day delayed coming out to allow the crowd to sing the whole song respect to them for that. I love that it happened in Hyde Park where we had their great free concert in the 70s when the vast majority of this crowd weren’t born
I have to admit you are great on crowd singing, I always getting chills hearing You never walk alone from Liverpool fans. Ok maybe because I am a Liverpool FC fan too although I am from Greece...
I’m 57 , I grew up a Queen fan , the fact my son was at this Greenday concert and knew the words, and sang along fills me with pride , I raised him well ❤️❤️❤️
Took two of my daughters, 17, and 12, to see them at the hella mega tour - seeing the both of them singing full tilt along to this in the beginning brought tears of "I did it right" to my eyes.
Was lucky to be in the audience that day. It came on the tannoy in the interval before GD came on. The singalong was completely spontaneous... love your reaction and 😃
Was in a London pub a few years ago and Bohemian Rhapsody started playing. Before I knew what was happening, I was singing with complete strangers as if we have known each other for years. As a South African that was one of the best moments of my life. Thank you Queen for still being awesome!
there's no need to pre-plan with bohemain Rhapsody lol. its just one of those songs that brings the world together. about 15 Years ago I was going up a ski lift and it came on over the hill's speakers, and literally everyone else on the hill stopped what they were doing to sing/rock along. it was a wild sight to see, and something so fun to be a part of.
Normally a few women start singing and then a few seconds in the one base singer gets a nudge in the ribs to sing his bloody part and everyone else is immediately assigned parts based on vocal range.
I've got chills. There's something very special about 10's of thousands of people getting together and singing a song that's not even from the band that they are there for. That says a few things: First of all, QUEEN STILL DOES, AND ALWAYS WILL, ROCK! Second of all, music really does bring people together. I love this
This wasn't orchestrated. Green Day are big Queen fans, and they play Bohemian Rhapsody over the loudspeakers before every concert. It's become a tradition for the crowd to sing the song, given that everybody knows it so well. I'd love to see this; in fact, I'd buy a ticket just to be in that crowd before the show, and sing that song at full volume with 10,000 other people. I can't help imagining how utterly chuffed Freddie would be to see thousands of people singing his song nearly 30 years after his death. It's all he ever wanted - to be a legend.
Music is life to the British, it holds til death, this is an unofficial national anthem. Freddie is still beloved by millions. We don't need organising to sing, we will sing for any reason, good, bad, or indifferent.the Brits appear to many as reserved, we're just sussing the out situation. Greenday had done this many times before, and loved the crowds reaction it's now become a Green day tradition, the original footage here was taken and uploaded by the band as a "thank you" & "look at our fans, aren't they're brilliant"
Great job audience! You got all the vocal inflections, the guitar solos even the 'any way the wind blows.' Awesome and uplifting. I think Freddie would have been delighted.
Millions and millions of Brits to this day love Freddie and Queen. We'd never let them down with a poor rendition. Everyone gathered together there having the time of their lives the passion and love for Queen shines through in their vocals. Awesome!
You know it is an all time classic rock anthem when 65,000 people all in one place, all know the words to the song. One of the most inspiring things I have seen. Thank you Freddie, we love you.
My favorite comment someone made about this: You know you're truly legen-dary when the whole crowd for another band sing your song by heart thirty years after your last concert. There are a couple of other videos, made by fans, that show the crowd reactions/energy/head-banging/etc. They are a good watches if you're intersted.
How cool was that!!!!!!! I definitely would have loved to be there that day... I'm sure Freddy Mercury heard that in Heaven and smiled down on the crowd. Queen were (one of) if not the first band to make a song especially for audience involvement - "We will rock you". Queen lived for the feedback from their crowds! They ALWAYS knew how to get them going. This was so beautiful, and it really touched my heart that so many years after Freddie's death people still do this. I've always been a big Queen and Freddie Mercury fan. Thanks for this! We have to find you a Queen song that you don't know for a reaction. So, how was the Green Day concert lol...
Queen just transcends everything. This wasn't even a Queen crowd. They were they to see Greenday. Plus, 2017!! Freddie had been dead over a quarter of a century.
This was in Hyde Park, London. Freddie's home town. Probably 99% of Brits know this song by heart. It's topped the UK singles chart twice. It was number 1 for 9 weeks, upon it's initial release in 1975 and it topped the charts for another 5 weeks, after Freddie died, in 1991. :)
Best 65k member acapella Queen tribute band I've ever heard. ;) But seriously, one of the most heartwarming Queen covers I've ever heard. Green Day should have payed the audience back for that performance.
Green Day plays the sound tract of Bohemian Rhapsody before they come on stage at almost all of their concerts...... Their are huge Queen/Freddie Mercury fans !!!
When Freddie left us he left a Hole in the Fandom. Since then audiences planet wide have been singing. Legend says if enough people sing at the same time this song that Freddie will manifest. Fans have been trying since.
Brits exit the womb knowing every word of BoRhap. Green Day played this song before every concert in 2017. There are other concert vodeos but this one in London is the best.
GREEN DAY play this over the P.A. at every concert before they come on to get the crowd going like many other bands they are Queen fans so they do it as tribute to the late great Freddie Mercury
Every US reaction I’ve seen have said they are cheering or clapping themselves. They’re not. They’re doing it for Freddie, he’s a national treasure and this is his anthem.
There is so much that is amazing to listen for. 1. They’re all in tune. 2. On the Galileo part, if you listen really carefully you can hear that they differentiate their voices on the high and low voice by adjusting the volume.
Spectacular reaction, Rogue! This was so beautiful and you probably known that rock fans in the UK and some parts of Europe sing songs like this in unison at a major football (soccer) game. It's just part of our culture and I notice that here in the US, people don't do this kind of thing, even at Coachella and all those major events. Thank you for this!! You are beautiful,
It's amazing most of them wasn't even born. I love this the first time I heard this piece. I'm 65 a big Queen fan the first time I heard them sing I also I'm a dedicated rock fan. It hurted me so when Freddie died, I loved to hear him sing and watch him perform. There will never be another like him.
If you look at the cloud at the top left of the screen in the beginning of the vid, it looks very much a silhouette of Freddie Mercury - perhaps in some real sense he was watching over them. There were 65,000+ people there. And they sang it exactly as Freddie did; quiet bits, loud bits, words broken over two notes. You know a song's immortal when they sing the guitar solo! PS: lol imagine having Queen as your warm-up act ...
Yes!!!! I love this!!!! Have watched it 100s of times. It shows you the power of music and an artist/band. I was looking for this one time to comment to you!!! Amazing and powerful ❤️❤️
So much I could say about this amazing video, but the over-riding feeling is emotion. I'm sure Freddie was singing along with them and I bet the Green Day band members were joining in back stage having the time of their lives. What a blast!!!
"I don´t think Bohemian Rhapsody is a playable on the radio. It´s too long." ;-) That was impressive! I´m a German father, Queen was my youth. But a generation later, my kids, their friends, all of them know Queen and Bohemian Rhapsody. Every single word of the lyrics. Timeless.
The song was just one of the tunes playing on the PA while the crowd was waiting for the live artist. There was no DJ, no one on stage, just the recording playing.
This makes me cry every time I watch this. It makes me miss Freddie more but I also cry because I feel he was watching/listening from Heaven. He must be so proud. He'll Never be Forgotten and Always be Missed by so many!! RIP Freddie. Love you!!
Absolutely unforgettable experience! Something I will never forget and I will always feel privileged to be a part of the crowd!!! The energy was insane! 💜
Hiya Royce! Great reaction as always! The true mind bender here... Freddie passed away in 1991, most of this crowd from 2018 hadn't even been born!!!! Keep digging! We'll keep watching!!!
I was at the Hella Mega Tour (Green Day, Weezer, FOB) in Seattle on Labor Day this year, which was the last stop on the US leg of the tour and they played this as well before Green Day came on. It was incredible to be a part of. Nothing like a little Queen to bring everyone together with the love of music.
Song almost every Brit knows every word to: Bohemian Rhapsody Song almost every Brit doesn't know every word to: the national anthem God Save The King/Queen.
Freddie Mercury was so great at many things... One was involving the audience in the concert... Crowd participation... Decades later this crowd nailed it... I'm pretty sure he'd appreciate it.. Great reaction, take care young lady.
Green Day deserve huge credit for enabling this at many of their concerts. It gets the crowd in a really great mood and then they come on and reap the rewards - winner winner chicken dinner!!
This brings me back to the late '70's to a Styx concert in NYC at Madison Square Garden. Between the opening act and Styx they played Pink Floyd's The Wall over the sound system. The entire crowd started singing along. What a moment that was!
Before bands enter the stage, music is played to the audience, whether an indoor or outdoor concert like this at Hyde Park - as has been mentioned before, us Brits know the lyrics to Bohemian Rhapsody as well as we know our own name.
Remember most people at that concert weren't even born when Freddie left us but it is the UK his country (which ne adored) we are a very proud nation (yes I know patriotism is frowned upon) We don't care we love our country and this proves it there was black, white , Muslims you name it but only one thing in common we all sang together! I get Goosebumps and can get quite teary when I hear this.
thanks, Rogue - this was extraordinary -- bored crowds may do lots of disruptive or even violent things... but in this case, they all recognized a beloved song, and joined together... it's SO Freddie - he always involved the audience.. I think I read that Green Day was ready to go out, but recognized the "moment" and let the people finish... I'm quite sure they put on a great show -- but this concert will always be remembered more for the "Queen sing-along" than for Green Day's show - lol
Regarding Freddie and the audience, I know the whole 1985 Live Aid performance was incredible - but when he had them in a frenzy on "Radio Ga Ga", it's give me goosebumps every time. Really wish I was born earlier sometimes to have been able to see some of these legends.
Just a little background here. Green Day always plays this and The Ramones before they go on stage. It gets the crowd fired up and it is great to be a part of in person! Just a unique experience that unites everyone and pays respect to those bands that inspired them.

Freddie would lose his fucking mind if he was alive to see this.
The energy had to be insane.
he saw it from heaven, he was conducting the crowd.
He looked down and said “that was beautiful, darlings.”
And then tell the crowd to fuck off lol
Mercury isn't dead - he just returned to Olympus to reunite with his fellow gods.
This was basically just regular energy of crowds back when Freddie was alive. That man could of made shaolin monks rock out at a concert.
Reporter asked "And what instrument do you play Mr Mercury?"
Freddie responds ;"The crowd Darling"
And he's still playing them,27 years after he died.
