Hmmm weird. I would imagine it has something to do whit your pc since it affected your friends as well. Maybe try looking at the portal files a lil more? Maybe theres something in there breaking everything??
I got a few idea's. Try to get a xbox 360 emulator and try to run orange box. This could be your only way to play hl2 and portal. Try to get a xbox emulator to run half-life 2 on the original xbox. Someone also commented saying to try and get the bsp file from someone else. And probally the worst possible thing i could think of is pirating. Of course you dont have to do this just use the xbox 360/xbox emulators with orange box. To me it seems like its a source engine problem more then just half-life 2, synergy and portal. Maybe try testing other source games like tf2, portal 2 and etc. Also have you tried testing gold source games like half-life to see if it probally happened there too? Also what about half-life source, honestly i wouldnt be suprised if it didnt go there its already a buggy mess. One more thing. Have you tried loading to the other level? Or the level before it. And have you tried loading into a chapter after it? EDIT: I recently watched "Trying to fix portal" from your channel, and by going into the observation room it crashes your game by trying to load into d1_trainstaion_01. What if you remove the bsp file and create your own level in hammer and name it to d1_trainstation_01. I wonder if it infects certain bsp files/levels from half-life 2 and portal (Plus synergy). Also the landmark name is HL2_P_B, when i tried searching this up i got a google link to half life 2 Project Beta. This may or may not be connected. (Another thing i want to mention is people say hl2 pb as "Half-Life 2 Project Beta" the first letters of project and beta are capitalized either this means nothing or something.) Seeing how landmark name is red it probally means its a error, since landmark name is used so the players mouse doesnt center the screen when teleporting to an another level. About synergy, now i do not fully understand synergy but it means whatever teleported you to chamber 8 probally has host commands or just able to access the console command and input commands or smth like that. Also it took the actuall bsp from portal when you open the console command in 2:48 you can clearly see it grabbing the .bsp file from steamapps/portal. And synergry runs on hl2 not portal. But i think the reason it could load the level is because the portal.exe file is called hl2.exe which is also the fact with other source games. Also theres a file directory called //MOD/save/testchamb_a_04 that also has hl1 at the end but i cant figure that one out. Anyways thats it. When i find more stuff i'll edit again i've been talking and yapping for a long time.
This reminds me of something. A while ago I made an experiment where I opened Synergy and CS1.6 at the same time. That caused an effect where ALL (Saying all it's all) Valve games servers were at the same time in the same game and you can even join some of those if you were lucky. I don't know if it was part of my experiment or what but it was very strange.

try runing the linux versions of the games also in the hexdump of the map (potal_B) HL2_P_B is portal blue
