  • In this video I go over the disassembly, refurbishing, and reassembly of my CJ heater box. The heater box was completely disassembled, cleaned up, repainted, then reassembled with new blower motor, heater core, sealing foam, etc.
The blower motor on my CJ heater box was a 80s GM blower, Delco part number 5044998. If you are able to find a N.O.S. one it fits and requires very minimal clearancing of the original firewall opening. Like the original CJ Blower motor, the original style of the 5044998 blower is no longer made and 'new' manufactureed ones are like the YJ replacement where the motor housing is approximately 3.5+" in diameter and requires a much larger firewall opening.
Other parts used in this refurbish.

What did you use to paint the plastic? Flat or gloss ? Type of paint ?

I just used a Rustoleum Satin. Scuffed sanded to whole box. Wiped it with paint thinner, then painted it.
