    As stated on the Glenallachie website:
    Crafted from a combination of the finest Speyside and Islay Single Malts, including aged GlenAllachie, Batch 1 of our Lum Reek 10-year-old is the perfect balance between peat and rich, fruity character.
    The spirit was laid to rest in premium Spanish sherry casks, wine barriques and virgin oak casks at The GlenAllachie Distillery. As time passes, the flavours marry and extract additional characteristics from the wood, creating a deliciously sweet yet subtly smoky flavour profile.
    Batch 1 of our 10-year-old is bottled at natural cask strength of 55.4% ABV, with no colour added and non chill filtered for maximum flavour.

    My most drank whisky… Longrow Peated NAS.
    It was called the CV for a while back in the day. I’ve probably gone through around 15 bottles. Creamy goodness.

    • @WhiskyInThe6
      @WhiskyInThe6  Год назад +2

      It’s solid for sure. For a similar price I think I’d go for the Hazelburn 10 or Springbank 10 though.

      @@WhiskyInThe6 Same, but they are much harder to procure. I’ve got three Hazelburn 10’s in the cupboard.
      Longrow has a nice creamy note and the peat comes off a bit subdued which I like. Cheers. 🥃

    Great review Rob! I also agree with you 2022 Longrow 18 is one of the best recent Springbank releases.

    NAS Longrow is good value here in Italy because the 18 whenever you can find it is upwards of 275 euros or more. I enjoy that 2022 NAS and think there may be a bit of sherry casks in it. Thanks Roberto ciao 👋, S.

    I've had mixed fortunes with Longrow 18. I had one which was seriously sulphured and ruined. You can't buy it in the U.K anymore unless you're friends with the shop that gets an allocation.

    • @WhiskyInThe6
      @WhiskyInThe6  Год назад +3

      Ya I’ve had some not so good Longrow 18s. This one in particular is excellent.

    I tried the 2022 and it's so similar to the 2017 I really didn't think it was truly a sherry cask when I tried it. I also found there wasn't much in it for going from NAS to 18 for longrow (although I stocked up on that particular NAS release so YMMV).
    I wish I had the 10 PX that was way way better than online reviews pegged it imo but alas it was hens teeth.

      I’m very surprised. The 2022 is the darkest I’ve seen. I get a ton of sherry.

    I have a similar opinion on the Longrow NAS. It's good whisky, but doesn't have a lot of complexity. It tastes like younger Springbank spirit that's been infused with more peat smoke... and that's it. Where I'm at, they're asking $70.00 per bottle, and it just doesn't justify that kind of money. This should be a $50.00 whisky tops. I'll have to find a bottle of one of the older expressions like your 18 or one of the Longrow Reds. Reviews for those are usually very positive.

      I agree. Shouldn’t cost more than $50 usd.

    Do you think Im nuts, months ago I tried like 25 mls of this exact Longrow 18 from a friend who works at an LC, along with an Ancnoc 24. I actually preferred the 24, but was impressed by how close the 18 was while being 6 years younger. Then again, Ancnoc was also quite a bit cheaper apparently. Both amazing whiskies, but that Ancnoc 24 was unforgettable.

      Very different but definitely not surprised you preferred the 24.

    The Campbeltown Loch sherry edition is the best bang for the buck from J&A Mitchell now and better than Kilkerran 12 or Springbank 10 or Longrow white label. $55 is hard to argue with and that is why I bought 4 more after having had opened the bottle I bought.

    What’s a good price for the 18 in US dollars these days? Only
    Place I can find it has it for $350 US.

    • @kingzaire2444

      When Mac18 is now going for $400+ that’s not a horrible price. I found mine for $300. An extra $50 isn’t the worse thing if you can swing it.

    • @WhiskyInThe6
      @WhiskyInThe6  Год назад +3

      I would say 225 American is the right price for this.
