Steve Walters that's so subjective, just because you dont think he did a good job doesn't mean he didn't do a good job. if this is your attitude then you have no place to talk about respect
So of ya'll must have musical blinders on. This dude flipped a none sample in a way that IVE NEVER HEARD it flipped. Then layed a drum sample that fit perfectly with the Roy Ayers sample. Also, if I'm not mistaken, he took the Traffic sample and brought it down to it's note and dragged out the sample, then did what dilla would've did and just play the sample in the keyboard. I'm sure with the right lyrics and chorus, the song would be an amazing chuck inglish beat. I know for a fact, if dilla was alive he would've been upset that he didn't flip those samples the same way considering he makes funk beats in the same way (midwest sound). Maybe someone was waiting for a trap beat or something.
I used the same method on samples back in the day. A friend gifted me an Ensoniq EPS Classic 8 and I use to just sample notes and play my own melodies and chords. I was blessed to start learning using Mackie 24 track, 3 ADATS, MPC 3000, and Roland JV-1080 & 2080 (fully expanded). So when it came time to use less equipment I had already grown accustomed to playing everything. With such limited tracks and memory you had to conserve your sample time. I would just sample notes, use polyphony and create main instrument parts with 5 tracks and then the drums with 3 tracks and the 1 or 2 song tracks. (OG's know about flippin the song tracks Lol)
He landed on his feet with these records! He must have hovered around the right sections of the store! But I like what he did with it. Sounded like good old school hip hop!
Might have been short, but Chuck knew what he was doing to fit three samples into one song. If no one considers that to be imaginative, then you either have higher expectations or lower expectations of what creativity really is.
Great Rhythm Roulette. Correction in the notes though: Roy Ayers Ubiquity is the name of the group. The Record he grabbed is a 12" single for Running Away
b33lz Lol it don't take that much to make an beat, even some of the trap producers make simple shit and take them 5 to 10 mins, while someone like Premo, Dilla, Nottz and Kanye really take their time with the art
What he did took real sampling skills. Most producers just take a loop from the record and throw some drums and an 808 on it. He literally sampled every record, and every sound he used came from the records.
He sampled from all records and made it one beat all in the same matching key. That takes some skill. More about how he did the beat versus how it sounded. Still sounded cool too....
Holy Wrath!! I didn't make much of the "Chuck Inglish" name for days... and today I finally decide to play the video and it happens to be the producers for one of my fav joints! Kool Kids - Black Magz
I don't understand why some of yall are saying that it was wack, he flipped nicely that roy ayers sample and add drums and melody from them other records, that's not an easy task and the final result is nice
K D I apologize. When someone says that they're going to use the drums and sounds from a record, I don't take it literally. I naturally think they're going to chop each snare, kick, hi hat from a loop that they've already chopped from the sample to create their own drum sequence. Then chop, manipulate, and rearrange the melodic instruments into something completely different. Beef up the drum chops, whether layered, or using compression amongst other effects. Then I'd physically add my own paint on the canvas I made.
Play Over the Sample Is When You Put Your Own Drums And Sounds To A Sample And he Didn't Do That.... He Played The Sample Into A Beat That Made The Sample Sound Completely Different
Is it just me or does Chuck Inglish!! remind you of Maurice-Jones Drew of the Jaguars in the way that he looks and has the same voice!! But this is a very talented producer!! Just thinking out loud!!
lowkey dope! Nuthin realy supa fancy but jus a nice groove...with the right concept...vocalist...could def be smash.... sometimes the simple joints be the illest... imo
I don't really get the "He did nothing" guys. He restricted himself to just use the samples, layer them perfectly, you may not like it, but I do. Some Lo-fi / Vapor / Trip Hop vibe. As a producer, I respect the technique he shows.
He made a beat all out of samples and it sounds completely different than what he sampled. If you're a producer then you have to respect it.
And all in key too...
lol FACTS
naw bro just doing work doesn't warrant respect. only doing good work should get respect. he didn't do a good job.
Thats pretty tough to do honestly
Steve Walters that's so subjective, just because you dont think he did a good job doesn't mean he didn't do a good job. if this is your attitude then you have no place to talk about respect
This guy inspired a whole generation of beat makers and producers.
Not really
So of ya'll must have musical blinders on. This dude flipped a none sample in a way that IVE NEVER HEARD it flipped. Then layed a drum sample that fit perfectly with the Roy Ayers sample. I agree man he managed to put those 3 record together to make a beat while some just looped a sample and add some 808 on top of it.
"Maybe someone was waiting for a trap beat or something" ahahaha. Sums up most mainstream rap in 2018, let's be real.
Spot on Mike
Very well said Mike.

That drum flip is dope though!
He landed on his feet with these records! He must have hovered around the right sections of the store! But I like what he did with it. Sounded like good old school hip hop!
Maybe I’ve been outta touch but these guys were huge when I️ was in high school!
Dream collab right here luv these guys, Mac Miller put me on to them like 8-9 years ago actually
One of the best ones, they rarely use all 3 records in 1 beat. Which I thought originally was the idea haha
Same lol.
please do kaytranada
Karmaa that would end the series lol
Man. The Cool Kids was one of my first introductions to hip hop. Jump Down by Travis Barker was one of the illest beats and flows I’ve ever heard!!
Finally an episode worth watching! This shit right here is a fucking flip!
This is one of the best Rhythm Roulettes besides Big KRIT, Cookin Soul, and 9th Wonder
facts, Larry Fishermans and Oh No was dope as well.
Might have been short, but Chuck knew what he was doing to fit three samples into one song. If no one considers that to be imaginative, then you either have higher expectations or lower expectations of what creativity really is.
Hell yeah super sick. Love the cool kids. Some of the most creative and fun beats out there
HERE FOR THIS
fr!! love your work by the way.
Great Rhythm Roulette. Correction in the notes though: Roy Ayers Ubiquity is the name of the group. The Record he grabbed is a 12" single for Running Away
Damn Mass Appeals, why not play the whole track he made out of the samples, otherwise what's the point?
Yoooo the Cool Kids!!! In the house!! "Clap...Clap,Bass, Bass!"
never clicked on a video faster than this in my life
Am I the only one who felt like he didn't do shit...
b33lz Lol it don't take that much to make an beat, even some of the trap producers make simple shit and take them 5 to 10 mins, while someone like Premo, Dilla, Nottz and Kanye really take their time with the art
b33lz Simplicity is sometimes best. That what Rick Rubin is known for. But I dig what you mean.
What he did took real sampling skills. Most producers just take a loop from the record and throw some drums and an 808 on it. He literally sampled every record, and every sound he used came from the records.
Not only did he sample every record, he manipulated it's sound to make it fit. The beat was 'meh' but I respect the technique.
He sampled from all records and made it one beat all in the same matching key. That takes some skill. More about how he did the beat versus how it sounded. Still sounded cool too....
You should have that Gang Starr Mass Appeal for your intro. That would be tight for your channel.
Aye yo Chuck!
A future "Classic Rhythm Roulette"
Combined 3 samples!!! Masterpiece 🤯

Yessss fucking finally been waiting for ever for Chuck inglish!!!

Chuck English is dope. However, he said he wasn't going to just play over the samples, and that's exactly wtf he did lol

He played over two samples wit keys sampled from the last one tho...
K D I apologize. When someone says that they're going to use the drums and sounds from a record, I don't take it literally.
