Ok, for us guys who just want to fly, thanks to you I am now flying, this is where you lost me. However, someday I might come back to this. I have had a QX7 for 5 years and never updated it and it works just fine. Constant updating is another thing about this hobby that bugs me. Again - Thank You Sir - and please keep up the good work.
Steve you don’t know how much I appreciate all the hard work you have put into these videos on tx16s . I am a noobie and I was getting some what frustrated to put it mildly. I’m not much on the computer either but I bought one just to do this hobby with. I have beta flight downloaded now I’m going in for the open tx companion. @@TahoeSteve Unfortunately, this appears to have 'Bricked' my radio. I can't even turn it on now, but im guessing it's my own fault. Think I may have got confused.
Fixed, as you can go into DFU mode and flash the old firmware, for anyone that does the same.
@@TahoeSteve Hi Steve, I have followed your video to the letter, but when I switch the radio back on, I am getting an SD card Warning 'Expected version: 2.3V0035, which is the one I installed. Any ideas? Thanks J

Good video. Started going kinda fast at the end. But I got everything to work except getting the SD card updated. Tried a few different ways and still get an SD card warning when powering on the radio. Says expected version 2.3v0038, which is the latest downloaded.

Hey Steve, first of all thank you for all the videos. you are really a great support to understand all the new stuff around fpv. Unfortunately I just came across something that you do not cover in the video and that is that after I have successfully loaded the latest Opentx update in the model setup area the item module update recomendet flashes. Unfortunately I can not find a video from you what I should do now. Would be happy if you could help me or a link to a video where you explain it. Thanks a lot

10:40 do i need to be in bootloader mode to do this. kinda skipped a step where you showed what you were doing radio connection wise right here
Hey. I got my Radiomaster R81 bound to my Babyhawk R. The beeper works and BetaFlight shows that All of the gimbals work and the flight modes are okay, but it won’t arm. Can you help with this? I’m using a Radiomaster Zorro transmitter.
Tell me please. Flashed the bootloader with the wrong version. Now tx16s does not turn on how can I fix bootloader?

Steve I have a problem I accidentally erased the SD card in my tx16s trying to update the radiomasters firmware. I can still program a plane into but I have no pictures of planes and I don't know what else can you please help thank you Marty
After copying the new bootloader firmware on the sd card my tx16s wouldn't turn on anymore. I had to synchronise the sd card with the companion and the downloaded sd card content to get it to work again. (Using the syncronise option is way faster than just copying the files. Pro tip: delete the sounds of the languages you aren't using.)
In case anyone else has this problem I hope that helps.
Sunday January 24, 2021,, Been watching your video from section one. HOWEVER,, This video has lead me down a rabbit hole, been stumped and frustrated for last 6-hours!!!! At point of the FlashFirmware right after backup. At Flash Firmware I Only have a minor window which says C:/users/bobgr/desktop/open-tx16s-en.bin With Icon button to "LOAD", Hitting LOAD it opens a window to desktop and wants a File Name. At no time can I click on Write to TX. What in the world gives??? I am stuck and really regretting doing this.

Hey steve went through the process of upgrading the firmware but the final step to transfer the new sd card contents wont happen because it says there is no enough room on the sd card help?

Thanks so much for all the help . i have a question to make i try to update my firmware in my radio and i keep take the same message from companion YOUR RADIO DOES NOT SEEM TO CONNECTED TO USB OR THE DRIVER IS NOT INITIALIZED why?
maybe try updating the drive on the PC, can find how in the lifoff connect video
How do you get the sounds on SD card?
Do you have to do boot loader mode? Seems like when I connect USB with it just normally on it works. Was just curious if there was a purpose to do that. Thanks!!
Macs and latest versions of Windows 10 just work. It's when it doesn't work that you can use bootloader. There is also this: impulserc.blob.core.windows.net/utilities/ImpulseRC_Driver_Fixer.exe

I not saying it's the Mac, but i have seen repeated comments by people having trouble with macs. I don't have one, so I can't test. Hopefully someone will chime in.

When i download the firmware it ends in .bin. So it’s OpenTX-tx16s-en.bin does that matter? Also i got my remote about a week ago and my bootloader and opentx are at 2.3.9-otx could it really already be updated?
Yep, if you see 2.3.9 as of 9/14/20 you are up to date. When it is time to upgrade, you'll get your .bin file (like you already did) and then go to Read/Write, then Write Firmware to Radio. Make sure you back your models up first!
Opentx upgrade sdcard 2.3v0034 will not allow me to put this version on the card in the radio says there is not enough room? 256mb card whats the fix? any help appreciated.
Ditch the SD card that came with the radio and buy a larger one
I've just had the warning about lack of space on the SD when updating my new TX16S from 2.3.9 to 2.3.10.
Before you buy a new card, here's how I got around it.
1. Copy the contents of the SD card to a new folder on my hard drive. I called mine MIX because it will soon contain a mix of old and new files.
2. Copy the new, downloaded files into the MIX folder.
3. If you're asked whether to replace existing files with same names, say yes. For me, this was nearly all the files.
4. Check that the the contents of new folder don't exceed the capacity of the SD card. If they do, stop now and get a bigger card.
5. Delete all the files on the SD card.
6. Copy the files from the MIX folder to the SD card.
7. Delete the MIX folder, or keep it as a backup.
Steve, thanks so much for this series. I'm just getting into quads, with no previous RC experience whatsoever. I bought the TX16S on the strength of many reviews, but had no idea how powerful and versatile it was. The information you present is pure gold.
I had the same problem, I just deleted the language files on the new download that I didn’t need and that was enough to copy over to the SD card without problem, you could also go to the SD card and delete unnecessary language files to free up space there.
I finally got it installed but my module is blinking and saids update to recommended version. Anyone know how to fix this issue?
Your SD card contents need to match your firmware update. Also, if you have not replaced the factory SD card, do so with a larger card which will eliminate a lot of problems.

Newbie here guys. Seems my SD card is corrupted, wont get recognised in the TX16S or my computer. Now when I switch on my radio i'm just getting 'EMERGENCY MODE' showing before it switches off. Anyone help ?
Assuming your models are backed up. try a new SD card or format the one you have

My T1 trim doesn't work, radio came that way. It's there any way to fix this or another method of putting the radio in bootloader mode? Hoping I don't have to buy another just for crsf-shot. Any help is appreciated!
