Thank you for sharing the ingenious vertical actuators idea! I’ve been trying to figure out a bulk build that allows me to take my mother and daughter onboard and this is very helpful. Also your talk about cultivating skills is truly inspiring. I had been wanting to build a camper van but had been intimidated by the technicals and skills required. I also had dreamed about off-grid living. Your simple but wise advice liberated me from fear and hesitation. 🙏❤🙏
Excellent video! Thanks for sharing the technical information. Super useful to know. Thanks also for the advice to check the timing on the actuators to find good matches.🌺
I LOVE your build! Thank you so much for the detailed look into the bathroom and bunk beds! I would love to see another detailed video about how you set up / support your bed up front! I think this just might be our primary inspiration for our build! Thank you so much for sharing and your channel!
I’m blown away by how this is set up. Also you have a gorgeous family. Watched every video in one sitting. Really can’t wait to watch your channel grow!
Great info! I am building out a 40ft bus to be a full time home. We plan to use actuators for an elevator bed in the front of the bus (bunk room in the back) and to have a 2nd layer of panels that come out when parked. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Thank you for sharing these details. Looking forward to your upcoming video Also excellent way to get your kids participating, and building communication skills while braking out of the awkwardness of being on video. You have a beautiful family Happy travels
Thanks! Yes, the awkwardness of being in front of a crowd (even if it's a virtual crowd) is something many people struggle with. The cure for fear is practice!
I love your outlook on van builds and realising that it's an amazing learning opportunity, and reframing mistakes/costs like that. We are a way off being able to start our van life, but your layout is the best I've seen for us (we'll also have two teens by the time it finally happens) and your reasons for taking the family on the road are really aligned with ours, too. It's a scary thought that things might go wrong that cost us more money, BUT you're absolutely right that those mistakes are valuable lessons and it's not wasted time/money if you look at it like that. Hopefully that will help us to try out things we never thought we could do! Thank you for taking the time to walk through the more technical aspects :-)
Thank you for watching! It certainly can be scary to take leaps. And it is also frustrating when things don't go according to plan. But lived experiences (including big mistakes) are the price of wisdom.
Thank you for your videos. We are looking for a way to sleep two adults and two grandkids. PERFECT!!! If you ever are in the San Diego area we have a driveway you can park in!
Subscribed. Loved your whole family. Your wife also did an excellent job on the tour of your van. Awesome.. Amazing.. Can you pls do a video on how you setup your own bed because that is still a little confusing. Thanks and best luck on your trips. Love from Pakistan.
I am just obsessed with y'alls brilliance!!! I'm honestly going to have to borrow so much that you guys have developed, it's incredible. Going to ask a quick question to get your input, though I know you're busy so don't necessarily expect an answer! I'm wondering if you think would be worth having two hidden beds on actuators - another in the middle of the van that could come down to serve as your bed. What do you guys think about that? Maybe not worth the cost of the extra actuators? I know it would also limit head room, and eliminate that cabinet you have over the bench seat. I just know we *hate* making beds, haha. Also, just sent your website to Joi Orr, a friend who is a professor at a seminary in Atlanta and writes about Black experiences camping and hiking and being in nature - her PhD dissertation was on the importance of understanding and knowing and appreciating the land we live on. So moved by the above ground railroad and just made a (small) contribution to WayOut. So grateful for y'all
Really great video and just what I need. I’m planning to do the same with my 15 and 16 year old and 2 dogs.. but we are in Ireland. Did you bring out the video about mum and dad’s bed? Thank you!
@@WayOutRailroad 👍 People of color representation is few and far between in this space. Seeing your lovely family enjoying nature just like any other family is cool to see. I skipped your bunk bed technical actuator tutorial tho, like I do with the engineer dude from fit RV. My head hurts when I see too much electronic or math stuff. 🤘😆
Your family is BRILLIANT!!
Aww thank you!
Super smart idea to use the pocket door rail.
Thanks!

Glad you found it helpful! Yes, it would suck to install them and then find out that the timing is way off!

It's coming. Lots of people have asked about the front bed. We will be doing a video on that.
I’m blown away by how this is set up. Also you have a gorgeous family. Watched every video in one sitting. Really can’t wait to watch your channel grow!
Thank you! More videos in the works!
Excellent tutorial, although I don’t plan on doing anymore building in my lifetime, you did an awesome job with yours. Thanks for sharing 👍🏾
Thank you. Much appreciated. Hey, ya never know. That itch to build may come back again one day! 😁

Sounds awesome. Good luck on your build!
Y’all built an excellent layout!!!! ❤️ The sofa/bunk beds is absolutely awesome!!!
Thanks! With so little space, things need to be multi-purpose wherever possible!
You and your son did a great job with this video. Nice build. 🙂👍
Thanks!
Just the very coolest 🎉best … loving genius RV and adventurous family
Thanks a lot. I didn't think about having the bed on a track to keep it straight. 👍🏾
Glad you found it helpful!
Wow, this is genius. I love this idea! ❤️
🖤💛🧡🙏🏾
Awesome layout and very inspirational speech (and I hate the word inspirational 😂) 👋🇫🇷
Happy we inspired you! 😅
Genius van build!!

You guys just helped me lay out my ideal van! Thank you so much for all the tutorials! Most helpful van videos ever!
Glad you found them helpful! Safe travels!

Watching the replay.., thanks for sharing your expertise. I'm definitely thinking about going tiny, and I love these informative videos.
Glad you found it useful. Good luck on your tiny build!
Hi do you plan on living in small space long term or is this situation. Thanks
Wow this is genius 👍🏻. I need to test some out for different uses for my daughter.
Thanks for watching! Sounds great. So many possible applications using linear actuators.

Absolutely incredible. Thank you!!!!!!❤❤❤
Would also love to see how the front bed is supported!

2:33 And so I thought I was watching a comfy vanlife video but got tricked into watching an engineering one instead.
😆 gotcha!
Can you show us how you build the double/queen bed in the seat/cab area. It looks super comfy ❤ but the bunk bed is pure genius ❤❤
Will do! Focused on some other projects, but we do intend to do a video breaking down the front bed setup.
Great rig and video. When will we see the parents bed setup?
It's coming soon. We know a lot of folks have been patiently waiting for that. Thanks!
Definitely waiting on the parents bed setup 😊🤞🏾
You make it seem doable. Are you going to talk more about over ground railroad?
Yes of course! In the meantime, check out our website if you haven't already. www.Wayoutdoors.org
Love this! We want more 👏
More you shall get 😊
Man I am loving your videos Subbed and liked
Thanks for tuning in!

Love it 😀

Glad it was helpful!
Yikes! Yet you did it Mike!
Yep! It all turned out well. There were some trying moments though for sure 😅
+1 on the Yikes! He made it look easy though! ✌️😉
Other than the table on the lagoon, where does the support for mom and dads big mattress come from?
We'll make a video soon showing the front bed setup. The lagoon table does NOT support the bed! It just drops underneath.
Genius!!
Thank you!
Nice bunk beds! Excellent explanation. What kind of engineer are you?
Thanks. Not an engineer at all. That's how I know you don't have to be one to build the beds 😂
Amazing
Curious, what supports the cushions to make a full, firm bed? Is there anything under like a board?
Video coming soon on the bed setup. Yes there is support underneath!
