I didn't think it possible for the new camera person to top a car sinking their first time out. Now two drain plugs? Can't wait to see what they capture next. Thanks BG, WB for the entertainment your videos really make me miss living on the coast
The strap not allowing the boat off the trailer is what they noticed. They didn't realize the plug was missing until he went to take the strap off. Watch the guy going to the back of the boat to remove the strap. He reaches for the strap then does a double take and looks again and finally realizes the plug is missing.
The guy with the GPS ankle bracelet walks around in shorts like he’s proud of having it. If it were me... I would be the only person at the dock in Jeans.... with BIG bell bottoms.
At a private ramp I watched a guy spend 45 minutes trying to back his boat off the trailer. I finally felt sorry for him and yelled "did you take the straps off the back of the boat?" I know I'm an a$$hole but damn it was funny.
I'm not a boat owner and I'm not on them often. I would think a few things that are pretty important would be gas, cold drinks, food, sun block and maybe just maybe a freshly installed drain plug. Love the show.
I grew up living on a hillside overlooking a boat launch in the Puget Sound. It's astonishing how frequently this happens and also equally astonishing that bulge pumping systems aren't designed to overrun the in-flow of a missing plug.
Checklist, checklist, checklist. A good checklist can save your ass! That's why pilots use them. When I got my trailer sailer one thing I did was to create a checklist for launching and another for recovering. They weren't long and one was on the front, the other on the back of the same sheet and it was laminated and always stayed with the boat.
Love this channel it’s so much fun. As a non- boater I have questions. Why is there not an audible alarm if the bilge turns on? And I think I would use a carabiner and clip the drain plug to the boat keys. Seems like a foolproof way to not make these mistakes.
most drain plugs on bigger boats are a brass bolt type thing. Its simple to do, like putting your seat belt on, only dumb asses forget it like this group of ginos.
This is why I go to more secluded boat ramps. This boat ramp activity would make me nervous because I'd be trying to watch out for the dummies the whole time. 😎
When I bought my first boat, a 27 ft cruiser . I spent a whole week docking and undocking at an empty marina b4 I had the confidence to do 9t at a busy weekend boat ramp.
I enjoy the no drain plug drama, I bought a brand new Targa last year , me and my son took her on her voyage I put the plug in the wrong hole. Lol I’m a dummy but we got it back in time on the trailer before the water reached the fuse box which is under the steering wheel on the floor. Good times man. Some people gotta learn the hard way.
I like your channel..it is a little bit like the "Big Brother" of boating life. Actually remember me those kinds of show, in which a team of commetator just take the piss out of every thing partecipant do on the Big brother house. Well in Italy there were such side show. Anyway good script and quality content, Keep up!!
the little dude with the ski is perfectly normal, when I was younger about his age and even now I did it all the time, granted somebody else in my party was always on another ski with me making sure i didn't get into too much trouble.
There are certain things you learn with experience, like docking maneuvers, navigation skills, maybe some launching and trailering skills..... But the plug?!?.... if you are going to remember one thing it's to put the plug in the boat. And that's on the captain, they should be checking before that boat gets to the ramp.
And I’m binge watching these now … I see why people hate jet skiers … it’s a shame because you do have a few legitimate boaters who ride nice Waverunners that get a bad name
I almost sunk my first boat. 17 and took my dad out, forgot the drain plug, launched, loaded up and took off. About 20 feet out realized the boat was sinking. Had a very quick conversation about go back to dock, or get boat up on plane and run water out... Decided on the latter and gunned it out of the no wake area. It took forever to get up on plane and we both thought it wasn't going to catch up, but it finally did and disaster was diverted. Im quite confident we came literally as close as possible to sinking a boat without actually doing it. Prelaunch invasive species inspections have made this a lot less common and once you do it, you learn to double and triple check. Also used to see a bunch of people launch with transom straps still on, but preinspections have mostly taken this fun away as well.
I'm guessing a lot of new boaters since Covid started. People getting out on the water for the first time to avoid crowds. Boating is not for everyone. I am a proud member of the Drain Plug Mafia and let me tell you, that is a scary thing to realize once you are out on the water and your engine dies. Happened my first season, was pulling a tube with the kids on it, and I was like "dang, those kids got heavy!" Then the engine sputtered, I have an inboard, and I realized what was going on. Jumped off the back of the boat and stuffed the plug in and let the bilge pump catch up. Got the heart rate up a little.
I’ll never forget the time a friend was taking about 5-6 of us out on his boat. I towed it to a lake 2 hours away, only to discover it had a blown motor. Not a little outboard motor, we’re talking a 460 that was customized. He had let a coworker borrow it and the guy apparently blew up the motor and didn’t say anything. Talk about killing the mood. Why the guy didn’t start it before we towed it 2 hours away is beyond me.
Regarding the jetskis’ in question...weird or not these things are a pain in the ass EVERYWHERE! And the folks that own them, are no surprise! They should have their own docks and let grownups handle the waterways. 🇨🇦
The guys who went in w/o the drain plug should have just pulled the boat up as far as possible so it so it isn't as deep at the aft of the boat. Than just get in the water and hold your breath a, go under for 2 whole seconds and put damn plug in Done it 2 or 3 times in my 60+ years on the water. Everyone panics and stares at it
Old tip. If you get in the water and realize the plug isn't in, fire up the boat and gun it when you can. All the water will rush out of the boat and then you can pop the plug in.
Gun it in a no wake zone?? Plus that wouldn't help the i/o boat. Even if he got all the water out it would be difficult to put the drain plug back in from the outside of the boat.
I once saw a guy back his truck up to the start of the slipway, walk around and unhook his boat trailer with the boat in it and proceed to try and walk the boat down the slipway. I sat and watched, luckily for the guy a good samaritan stopped him before he got took far.
From personal experience. Dad would either fall in the lake, or sink the boat. Worst case of which was this one: Dad forgot to put the plug in the 14 ft Sears runabout with a 45 Sears engine. Took it around to the marina, and tied it up. We all went in and had lunch. Went out to the boat and all that was above water was the... it's hard to describe, blue part. The hull was white, and where it met what was the fore deck and ran level all around the boat except the well and transom in the back, all that was blue and had a height of about 3 or 4 inches above the hull. So Dad gets in the boat and cranks it up. The engine block is barely out of the water. This boat had some kind of vacuum sump pump using engine vacuum and the water poured out of the space from the engine cover. So he then heads out into the lake to "run the water out of it". Once he put the gas to it, the front of the boat would start to raise up, and the water would start to flow out over the back and sides of the boat. pretty soon most of the water was out, and he got it up on plane and just drove around until all the water was out then he put the plug in and came back to get us. So not putting the plug in isn't a disaster unless you can't install it while inside the boat. They you need to either get in the water to put it in, or go back to the trailer and get it to where you can.
I have been boating for 3 decades or more and I have forgotten the drain plug! In my case, I was in a bass boat and made it a half mile from the ramp before I realized. My only option was to get it on plane, if I still could, and get to a sand bar or something so I could jump off and put the plug in. That was the scariest few minutes of my life!!!
my coworker is small-time pilot with about 10,000 hours of experience and the one time I went flying with him, he meticulously went through his checklists for engine startup, takeoff, landing, etc, despite probably knowing it by heart. I imagine a checklist for boat launch/recovery would be useful regardless of experience level

Not only did they forget to put the drain plug in they forgot to unstrap it from the trailer.
I noticed that too
Amazing how such morons are able to afford such a nice boat..
The dude was wearing an ankle monitor too haha
The strap not allowing the boat off the trailer is what they noticed. They didn't realize the plug was missing until he went to take the strap off. yeah just like they can buy guns too, and stupid is as stupid does

the trick to drainplugs to clip them to your key
But then your keys will be in the water🤣
The trick is a checklist before you leave the house. The time to remember drain plugs, tethers, bilge pump tests etc. is not at a hectic boat ramp.
