“never again will i repeat myself”
*repeats riffs all over the place feverishly
He says that line alone twice
an unforgiveable crime: not ending this album with Fun Machine. The single greatest qotsa song.
Didn’t they lose the master for the song for awhile, and that’s why it wasn’t on the album?
@@sublimeddie I haven't heard that, but it would be finally a good explanation for that shit.
@@sublimeddie That's why it wasn't on Lullabies to Paralyze. It was re-recorded into what we have now.
@@RandomCanEHdian My understanding is that they found the master later after the album was released
That is borderline retarded to call that song their greatest.
the art for this album was so cool
Have you noticed the last 3 album covers are essentially the same? A humanoid figure with a creature/entity on it? Not sure if this is intentional or not - but to me it's really boring I wish they'd done something different for the new album
@@furleysbrainthe last three albums were a kind of trilogy of sorts. So I guess that’s why they have similar cover art.
True true
Yes this artwork Matched the sound of the album so perfectly
Josh Homme went back to Morning Breath Inc. (the artists of Era Vulgaris) to do the art for Desert Sessions 11 & 12. But besides that, Boneface has been QOTSA's go to artist since ...Like Clockwork. I think Josh just really likes Boneface as a person and his art in general.
Such an underrated album. It really brings the Robot Rock sound back from the first album.
Cool upload, never heard this before.
Echoes . 👍
Absolutley agree on the robot rock comment. Such a great album. Well 2 great albums
it gives the vibes of a robot shroom trip
Interesting to hear that a proto title of 'First Breath you take after giving up' made it over to Vultures :)
My favourite record of all time. I wish they talked about the b sides and bonus/hidden tracks though.
The B Sides (Fun Machine, EV, Running Joke) are honestly the best songs on the album.
9:14 That later was the name of a Them Crooked Vultures song.
Bloody brilliant
I remember writin a bad check to get this album the day it released.fuckd up my finances and my banking for next year or so in retrospect it saved my life and my relationship i was so into at the time and i just couldnt get things straight but in the end that relationship along with that album that no one liked at all saved me and the one other life i found out loved me i later came to know them as soul and self concious.queens would later have impacts on me at every album drop...they are my absolute love in music of all time
Nice little story maybe next time use commas though because it's incredibly hard to read when everything is one long sentence who writes a check for an album anyway it's like 15 whatever currency you use you could have just given one handjob at a truckstop and not fuck up your finances to get the album oh well life is full of choices I guess great album though I agree too bad they left out the title track because it's a real 5 bagger
They are on fire right now with their US tour. Consistently have the tightest sound of anyone out there. Saw Pittsburgh and was left wanting nothing from their set list 🤘
Just saw them two nights in a row! Omaha and Kansas City. Got to hear a decent amount of era vulgaras! They did turning on the screw and make it wit chu the first night, and then 2nd night they did into the hollow & make it wit chu. Sooooo great
Favorite album by far
I hated when ‘like clockwork’ came out and the narrative with all reviews was ‘…after the misstep of era vulgaris…’
Bitch that’s their best album!
The last two songs on this album, River In The Road and Run Pig Run are almost like two chapter scenarios from an unwritten novel, set in the near apocalypse.
the most phenomenal description of those two songs, couldn’t agree more
Suture up your future mate. Loved that part. Cuz still ppl birch bout that. “If Nick was there.” Duh… I’m glad lullabies happened. It’s fkn so good. It’s just a road. You can’t tell where you’re traveling’ sometimes.
Nick getting kicked out of Queens was *the best* thing that ever happened, there was nowhere to expand with him onboard. His contributions were fantastic, especially his bass playing on Rated R, yet I couldn't be happier it ended when it ended though.
Lullabies, Vulgaris and Clockwork are all throughly brilliant albums and the live show was at its absolute peak in 05'.
I thought I'd heard every Josh Homme interview! Thanks for the upload 😁
Didn't like this album back in 2007. God i was dumb back then
I remember not knowing what to think of this Album when it dropped, slowly it grew on me. Maybe more than any of the Queens Albums ever has.
I could not agree more haha I feel the same way
It's so fucking good.
You're not the only one. I fucking HATED it at first... Now it's probably my 3rd favorite QOTSA record.
Yeah it threw me off at first, but by the end of the second listen, I was hooked.
Also my 3rd favorite album of theirs
Alas, Queens of the Stone Age's most underrated album.
I concur
Yess this is what I’ve been waiting for
Ah yes josh hom
the josh homie
Josh Hom everyone
Every time I listen to Misfit Love, I want to dance and freak out while coming out of my clothes.
The synthesizers are nasty and fuzzy in that rhythm section in all the right ways.
Absolutely one of their best tracks. Misfit Love grew on me more and more. It's so fucking sexy!
Thank you lots for uploading this. This was the first queens album that clicked. It does have a lot of bonehead moves, as Josh said, and that is exactly what I like, I'm the Stooges fan as well. Also Josh is not pretentious, as some have commented, or at least there is no way of knowing from here - he's just funny. Like, if you don't get a joke you think it's not funny? It's that case
omg. I have never heard this before! Thanks a lot for the upload.
This is great, thanks for posting this
What an album. Just another banger that could stand alone as a greatest hits record.
My favorite 2nd best queens album.
Amazing to know what was the motivation to write such songs.
Into the Hollow definitely sounded like a LtP track, even in the title
There's a different unreleased LTP b-side called "'Til Tomorrow" that people tought was "Into The Hollow" for some time, but they're two completely different songs tho.
@@qotsaarchive3 where I can find Til Tomorrow song?
That was great to listen to. Love the Album.
I would love to hear his commentary on the actual Era Vulgaris song, as well as Fun Machine
Ty
I refuse to believe that’s what sick sick sick is about
Thanks!
era vulgaris plus Modest Mouse album we were dead before the ship sank, was the soundtrack to my summer in 07. one big drunken stoned blur.
I think this album came out at the perfect time it didn't sound like anything else. it set up queens more into, if a robot was trippin on shrooms, type sound that they can only achieve. than they grew up on that
Anyone got a link to the actual session? Would be great to listen to this with the tracks
I work at a nozzle mill
XFM?! TINPOT
My god he’s pretentious.
Omg yes 🤦🏽♀️
I feel more like he's exactly the representation of his music - always trying to be funny in a very wry way, thinking in unbearably smartass one-liners no matter if it's the appropriate time or not 😁
@@clemwest4536 Yes, but it's okay.
I just had this realization now. I idolized him as a teen and I haven't listened to his music for a while until this came up in my feed.
Always funny how we can look back with clarity, hindsight is 20/20.
I think he's just a funny dude. The "pretentious" is tounge in cheek
Apparently a dude being able to speak about his work with a clear and developed point = pretentious
