- Robert Palmer - Johnny & Mary 1980
Robert Allen Palmer (19 January 1949 -- 26 September 2003), born in Batley, Yorkshire, was an English singer-songwriter. He was known for his soulful voice and the eclectic mix of musical styles on his albums, combining soul, jazz, rock, pop and blues.
Johnny's always running around
trying to find certainty
he needs all the world to confirm
that he ain't lonely
Mary counts the walls
knows he tires easily
Johnny thinks the world would be right
if it could buy the truth from him
Mary says he changes his mind
more than a woman
but she made her bed
even when the chance was slim
Johnny says he's willing to learn
when he decides he's a fool
Johnny says he'll live anywhere
when he earns time to
Mary combs her hair
says she should be used to it
Mary always hedges her bets
she never knows what to think
she says that he still acts
like he's being discovered
scared that he'll be caught
without a second though
running around
Johnny feels he's wasting his breath
trying to talk sense to her
Mary says he's lacking a real sense of proportion
so she combs her hair
knows he tires easily
Johnny's always running around
trying to find certainty
he needs all the world to confirm
that he ain't lonely
Mary counts the walls
says she should be used to it Видеоклипы
What a voice, what a singing style. My God, if he was living today, what wonders he'd produce.
This song is wonderful.
Thank you, Robert for this Song.....👍🤗❤
Dear Robert, you are a legend in leather jacket, 80s heroes never die
A Master of his craft, RIP Robert
I'm ashamed to say it took me 41 years to appreciate this song. Simply a masterpiece!
1980 has a few more gems: ashes to ashes david bowie and passion rod stewart.
Don't be ashamed my man..it's fine
I was never a techno fan, but I'll watch and listen to anything he does. RIP. Sorely missed.
Very stylish.
Adorable man and a timeless classic
A great singer, performer and composer for a great song sung in a elegant outfit.
That was the real class level that brought him to be a great real super pop star.
Actually he also lived in Switzerland, namely in Ticino, where he used to compose his songs and to rehearse them.
the coolest , most stylished singer / performer ever !
Dont forget bryan ferry as well!
Try 48 years and I remember alot of music and I think I remember this.love it
Gorgeous man
Hi to all. This song is profound on so many levels. My favourite lyric is when he says "he is eating his breath trying to talk sense to her" and she replies "the argument has to in proportion to what you are asking" absolute genius.
the man was just SUPERB - R.I.P.
0:47 looks like a clean cut British artist. He is about 30 years old here.
Not many British artistes looked this stylish and handsome in 1980. RP was a one off.
Another great Yorkshire man
Just like Peter Sutcliffe, magic!
Three Robert Palmers - always good :-)
THE MAN
Elegante........leyenda
Era un bellissimo uomo e un ottimo cantante, splendida voce. Indimenticabile ❤️
great voice.....always thought Palmer was American... up until now!!
He was from Batley , West Yorkshire , England .
18 plus 34 equals OLD...but back in the day, when the bloom was on the rose, I too arose to grab all that was mine.
Che nostalgia!!
excellent
This might be my favorite song of all time.
Fucking love this song
Me too.....
2021 ? 👍🙋♂️
He was the best and most versatile singer and songwriter. He felt at home in every style of music exept rap and such sort of things. That was not his cup of tea.
Hamburg, 1981, wir waren popper.
Repose en paix
top dollar
❤❤❤❤❤
this is music!!! not justine timberlake or miley cyrus!!!
I would actually like to hear Justin Timberlake cover this! JTim has talent! Robert Palmer was amazing, and it is awesome to see how many other people were influenced by this song.
+fabiocaraffa besides isn't Justin Timberlake the Robert Palmer of his generation? Hip music, sharp suits. etc.?
Yes! Great thought there. Very true.
Music like this sadly doesn’t exist anymore.....
.....ne comprai il 45 !!
❤2020❤
Renault!
Beats the official video!
❤️❤️❤️
💕💕
Na této muzice jsem vyrostl.
Lip sync.. awsome song but thought it sounded to good and you can tell as he cuts off short and doesnt finish his lines.. still love it tho ❤
He kind of seems annoyed having to perform it with the tape, occasionally almost breaking into laughter. Stil cool as hell. Must have been a great guy. And a top song!
Mary combs her hair..
Phwoar - in triplicate
Great song, but very bad miming!
