I have a Fern without digital knit and without added lumbar bubble (I got a good deal on it). I think the digital knit is way nicer and if you like having some real lumber support then get that, too. I had to roll up some foam and shove it into the lower back of the chair to get enough support. A really good chair, but at 5'11" the seat pan is not really long enough for me, sliding it out opens a gap in the back and takes your "sitting bones" out of the sweet spot in the seat pan. QUESTION FIR YOU!!! CAN YOU slide the seat pan all the way out and sit scooched back in the seat? My digital knit fern at home still has a gap, but the Xbox DOES NOT! Wtffff this could be huge
One of the guys at BTOD now prefers the digital knit fern to the embody because he can take the lumbar out of the fern and finds it less aggressive than the embody. I had the good fortune to try out a bunch of Ferns, most of which didn't have the optional lumbar, only 2 chairs did. I didn't feel a huge difference, tbh, but I did prefer the added lumbar (I'm old, with a slightly bad back). I can see why someone could prefer the back without the added lumbar, as not having it makes the back of the chair more flexible.
For anyone on a budget, I just picked up a mesh fern with the lumbar support for $350 from the Hayworth outlet store in Holland Michigan. If you're within a couple hours I'd say it's worth the drive for that value. It's not in pristine condition. You don't get to pick the colors. That's how I bought mine, too! 2 years ago, it was $305 tagged, so $323 after Michigan tax. Mine has the headrest, added lumbar, digital knit, and steel base. Mine still had all the new chair tags on it, only thing I can find wrong with it is the arms aren't quite symmetrical, left arm juts out slightly more than right arm.

I have been watching a lot of your videos and the content is great, you've gained a sub! Unfortunately, it is quite disappointing that even spending 2k$ you cannot get a perfect chair. I want a good ergo chair type HM, Steelcase, Haworth with a headrest to improve my back pains but none of them have a recline function. I work 4-8 hours per day at the desk but I also want to be able to recline the chair and relax after a long day of work when I watch some youtube or other and not have to constantly apply pressure to stay tilted. I have gone through two old HyperX Stealth (which are Titan knock offs) and I love the recline function but the rest of the chair is garbage and they break down easily. Any tip on a chair that would fit those requirements? Thank you!
I feel your pain, brother. I want that exact thing, but no one has done it. The closest that have come close are the Steelcase Karman (high back) and the SIHOO Doro S300. Of the 2, I'd def recommend the Karman. They dont have back tilt lock, but they do have auto adjust mechanisms, meaning they tilt based on your weight placement, not based on how much force you place on the back. No high end ergo chair can lock the back tilt in place like racing style/asian made chairs do though! Hope this helps and please consider using my links if you decide to pick up!
I got the regular Fern in all black with the digital knit. I'm very happy with the purchase. I also own a steelcase gesture and I would say the fern leans more towards the casual slouching user... And the gesture forces you to sit upright. They both work great for what they do.
I bought the Haworth fern. Unfortunately after a week its going back. 6 ft 3. The seat pan isn't long enough. The digital net is a little bit scratchy and really locks you into place compared to my old leather chair. It does feel a bit odd being wider than the chair at the top as it tapers up. It's a c+. I keep it if it wasn't $1,250. There are too many negatives at that price point.
I was sweating the choice of going with the lumbar support. Definitely get it. It is the least aggressive lumbar support that I've ever experienced. I've never used lumbar previously this was perfect.
great question. I couldn't tell a noticeable difference, but keep in mind I think I was wearing jeans for this review. Might be different if you were wearing something a little thinner....or nekked.
Steelcase used to pull the same shit as well, but they recently changed their attitude by once again offering 12 years (and even a lifetime warranty) on almost all parts, except the fabric.
Unlikely to be anytime soon, as the material which forms the Digital Knit configuration is currently banned in the EU for failing their stringent safety tests.
@@Ahnestly Digi Tweed is a premium fabric option for the Fern. It is highly textured, yet not scratchy on sensitive skin; comes with a stain repellant finish; is decently breathable; and is about 50/50 recycled polyester.

@@Ahnestly have you tested the Stressless Consul? (Sorry if you did and I've missed it.)
I got the regular Fern in all black with the digital knit. I'm very happy with the purchase. I also own a steelcase gesture and I would say the fern leans more towards the casual slouching user... And the gesture forces you to sit upright. They both work great for what they do.
In which one can you seat for longer periods of time?
@@RobertoOrtis I would say the Fern, but both are excellent.
@@miniDrew4 I tried the gesture at a store and it seemed as if the back rest is very hard? Does it become softer the more you use it?
@@RobertoOrtis no it stays very firm
@@miniDrew4 so if I like it softer like a mesh or knit fabric like the fern, should I stay away from it?
I would totally get that xbox or halo chair!!!
For taller folks, the HM Aeron size C and Steelcase Gesture are good options.
the Headrest on the gaming editions were a pain to deal with.
what is this an overview of materials?
make a review instead
I did lol. This is a comparison
@@Ahnestly You're right sorry. Just watched it good video
sadly they dont sell haworth in scandinavia..
How much more comfortable is the genuine leather seat compared to the regular fabric seat?
great question. I couldn't tell a noticeable difference, but keep in mind I think I was wearing jeans for this review. Might be different if you were wearing something a little thinner....or nekked.
In europe they give only 5 years of warranty instead of 12 in NA. Disgusting, I wouldn't recommend such a company to anyone
Steelcase used to pull the same shit as well, but they recently changed their attitude by once again offering 12 years (and even a lifetime warranty) on almost all parts, except the fabric.
@@StardustLegacyFighter 👍
Thoughts on the Flexispot OC6?
Now We just need the digital Knit in Europe, so i Can get a new chair!
Unlikely to be anytime soon, as the material which forms the Digital Knit configuration is currently banned in the EU for failing their stringent safety tests.

wtf is vegan leather
@@jobin9 fake leather lol
Do you know if Haworth has discontinued thier digital knit? Looking at their official website noticed only mesh was offered
Digi Tweed is the sweet spot seat fabric imo.
What’s that???
@@Ahnestly Digi Tweed is a premium fabric option for the Fern.
It is highly textured, yet not scratchy on sensitive skin; comes with a stain repellant finish; is decently breathable; and is about 50/50 recycled polyester.
Did you sit on or use other Fabrics? I know different Fabrics can tremendously impact the stiffness or softness of chair cushion? I have Tellure Fabric on my Fern and it appears to breathable and not scratchy.
@@thewhitewolffl Tellure was actually the favorite fabric of the employees at the store I went to.
Despite working on commissions and it being the cheapest option, they pushed it a lot, even with their corporate clients.
IMO Tellure feels like an elevated version of a foam office chair seat whereas Digi Tweed feels like a premium fabric recliner/sofa.
Tried the leather option too, but I live in a hot area, so that was an instant no.
can the wheels be swapped out with the rollerblade style wheels?
Any caster can be replaced! Takes some elbow grease to get them, out though
@@Ahnestly thank you for your answer. i have this in my cart on your amazon link. is thke amazon an affiliate link as well?
Yes! And I really really appreciate you willing to use my links. Helps the channel a lot!!
@@Ahnestly so i bought it, arrived today and nothing works on it :( is there some setup step im missing?
What do you mean by nothing works? Like getting the old casters out?
I have the embody and just received the Fern. The Fern quality is so poor... came broken and feels like a very cheap office chair. I knew in the first minute of sitting on it that it was going back. It's a shame that my gf's Secret Lab feels like it's such higher build quality.
I had the opposite reaction. Realized My secret lab is pretty trash compared to the fern
@@richywing Maybe I got a bad one. Very poor compared to embody and leap.
I narrowed down my choices to Xbox fern, Logi Embody and Mavix M9. They’re all so nice 🫠
The M9 is not. Huge drop in build quality overall compared to the other 2!
@@Ahnestly ok prob just made my decision for me 😂. Xbox Fern it is, Herman Miller up’d the price the Logitech Embody to 2k
