Hey man, i dont wana leave a bad review and be a hater, but honestly the whole video just came across like a total add, and felt like you were trying to sell these so hard.
@@blue9906 the aeron was the only chair that helped with my back pain and once I tried the embody, it became my favorite chair of all time. The Sayl is also a great chair imho and I’ve reviewed a lot of chairs. I have plenty more “objective reviews” if that’s what you’re looking for. This video is clearly titled a buying guide, not “should you buy one”!
I bought the embody gaming and returned it after 30 days. I just couldn't adapt to it, felt too hard in my lower back and didn't feel 100% comfortable. When I tried the aeron afterwards, I INSTANTLY felt a big difference, much more confortable, my back fits perfectly and it feels really soft. I had a hard time accepting that I didn't like the embody but now I feel so good that I returned it. Love my Aeron.
I apologize in advance if this sounds like I'm speaking down to you (I am not, I promise!)....but I am SO PROUD of you!! Making an objective decision and not letting hype/sensationalism dictate what you buy/own! That's really awesome and I'm so happy you found your perfect chair!
I bought both the Aeron and embody, tried the Aeron for a week and the Embody for a few days (had the Aeron a week before the Embody). I agree with pretty much everything mentioned in this video. I personally do not find the lumbar support on the Embody comfortable. It felt like there was not enough support and of course this is not adjustable. When I got my Aeron I initially had the lumbar support set to the minimum as setting it any firmer than minimum felt uncomfortable. However, with time I increased the support a small amount and it feels great. I also feel like the backrest of the Embody makes your shoulders feel as if they are being curved inwards a little bit but I have quite wide shoulders so this may be why. Even if I adjusted the backrest further backwards, it made me feel like I was sitting in a "lazy, slightly slouchy" position which personally didn't feel the best compared to the sitting position in the Aeron. I tried so many adjustments with the Embody because I really wanted to like it, but I never felt comfortable in the Embody so I returned it. The Aeron felt significantly better in every aspect to me. The Embody also feels very light and cheap, where as the Aeron feels very sturdy in every aspect. The Embody makes some noise when rocking (not a great deal but enough to be annoying for me) and it appears to come from somewhere around the base of the seat. I didnt hear any noise coming from the backrest as it really doesn't flex that much at all during use (not that it is not flexible - it is, but your movements don't cause it to flex a great deal). Also, the mechanism to lean back in the Aeron feels so natural and nice, whereas it feels slightly odd in the Embody. It's hard to describe but it just didn't feel quite right and its not as comfortable as the Aeron. Don't get me wrong, it is still good, just not as good as the Aeron. This could again be due to the lack of lumbar support making me feel this way about the Embody because you notice it more when leaning back. I do not get this "creaking" when rocking in the chair as mentioned in this video, mine is completely silent. Maybe this is due to the amount of tension you have on the lean back function? You can also lean back and stretch your upper back and arms backwards and outwards in the Aeron with a great deal of freedom which feels great, but the backrest height on the Embody doesn't allow you to get such a stretch. The Embody made me feel like it was really trying to keep me in the confined area of the backrest when trying to lean back and stretch - I don't know why but I do this a lot in my chair so I noticed this difference. I think HM are right in saying there is no need for a headrest, even when leaning back I experience no discomfort in the Aeron. With the Aeron I did sometimes get pain on the rear side of my legs (hamstring area). I don't really know why that is, there are some days that I do get this pain and some days where I never get it. Recently I have not experienced that at all so maybe I was still getting use to the chair and sitting in a better posture. The Embody does feel more comfortable to the rear side of your legs, but I do not recall getting such a pain with that chair. I may have these opinions because my body became more use to the Aeron and it's characterisitcs as I had been using it for a week before I got the Embody. Also, I have a feeling that since the Aeron makes you sit in a position with good posture, you feel uncomfortable sitting in a chair which allows you to have a more laid back posture (the Embody in this case). Your sitting posture definitely feels different in each of these chairs. Most people don't get to try both chairs, and if they do, it is usally at a HM shop. The time you spend trying one of these chairs at a HM shop is not long enough for your body to really understand which one it likes more. I initially liked the Embody when i first tried it as it felt more comfortable, but your opinion can change with time. To anyone trying to decide on one of these chairs, I'd recommend the Aeron as I feel it is significantly better than the Embody. I was able to get the Aeron for a little cheaper than the Embody too which was a bonus. If you are going for an Aeron, get the gaming version from HM gaming as it comes with nearly all options and it is significantly cheaper than choosing the Aeron on the HM website and adding the options yourself. The deep black tone you get with the gaming version looks really really clean and nice. There is no difference with the gaming version apart from the colour and you do not get leather arm rests (the only option the gaming version lacks) but the standard ones are really damn good. I can't comment on the leather armrests as I have not tried them. Just to comment my experience as I found it useful reading other people's experiences in comments of videos before I bought my chairs. From my journey of reading peoples comments on videos, I find that there are a lot of people who comment that "x" chair is the best but they have not tried the other chairs or have only tried them for a very short period at a HM shop. They got one chair, and they like it, so they think that is the best. But I am giving my opinion after trying both chairs for more time than most people would be able to and think this might be useful to a potential buyer.
"With the Aeron I did sometimes get pain on the rear side of my legs (hamstring area). I don't really know why that is, there are some days that I do get this pain and some days where I never get it."
I 100% agree with you the aeron fely much more comfortable in every aspect. Like you said when i sat in the embody my shoulders felt rounded forward due to the high back curvature.
a lot of people criticize the Aeron for not being able to sit in it however you want, but after sitting in it for a month or two, I think that's the wrong way to approach it. it passively improves your posture because it encourages a more ergonomic sitting position. and because of this, you won't feel the need to move around as much. your body doesn't fatigue as quickly when sitting properly. I very rarely feel the need to fold my legs at all - and if I do feel the need, it's just one leg, not both. if you don't even feel the need to change positions a lot in the first place, then changing positions a lot becomes less of a concern. that's the magic of the Aeron in my opinion. I absolutely love mine. that being said, try these chairs for yourself if you can before committing. and thank you Ahnestly for another good video.
I've owned both the non-gaming Embody and Aeron's. I'm a huge believer in buying quality office chairs given the quality of life for the time spent in them by professionals especially now with WFH. I totally agree on the majority of your points, the defining choice with me between the two was while I found the Embody more ergonomic and better long term value (seat cushion lasted longer). I ultimately went with the Aeron since the Embody seat would get too warm, and in a home with poor or no air conditioning the Aeron was the clear winner for staying cool with good comfort. I've had my Herman Millers easily last 7-10 years no problem vs cheap big box office chairs friends or family would buy that fall apart after 6-12 months that cost $100-300. Thanks for the great review, this is a a great value for folks who are spending this much money on a premium chair for the first time.
Which is more confortable (butt wise and leg wise) embody, sail or aeron? I can’t try them but it is said that the mesh on the aeron is hard. I need to seat 7hours a day so confort matters.
@@nn-qb1bp Aeron has always been my favorite for the above reasons, but the mesh seat pan only breaks down slightly to where it's just a few millimeters of bounce/give that just ends of flexing down as a hard seat surface. Check out their new updated "gaming" Embody Gaming for ultimate comfort with good cushion and supposedly they've improved cooling slightly which was my main complaint that those didn't breath vs the Aeron. They have a 20% off sale going right now during Presidents Day too which is kinda rare short of Black Friday.
Hey @sshepherd (or anyone for that matter I guess) what chair would you recommend for someone close to the 7’ height? I’d get that atlas headrest too if that matters.
I've tried all 3 (Non-gaming versions) and even bought and returned the Aeron at first. Here are notes which I hope they help people in deciding with the least amount of knowledge and mainly based on back feel as all the bells and whistles of features are self-explanatory. I'm 5'6 and half and 175 lbs at this time with slight lower back issue. Below is my feedback (bulletins are not an order of which is better but in order of what made sense for me to present) 1. Sayl: out of the 3 it has the most huggy feeling to your lower back if you like that. Even without additional back support. The 2 main issues I had with the chair are: seat bucket is too small for casual seating even at my height if you want to occasionally slouch. And the back tension has weird tendency to push back onto your back even when it's so light. You can lean back so easily but for some reason I always felt the chair was pushing back. 2. Aeron: this chair is designed for you to set up right. No slouching or anything else. If that's your thing then get it. The side profile of the backrest has an angel to it horizontally along the mid back where you can see the backrest bending slightly. This invisible horizontal line WILL create a pressure line across your mid back if you sit in anyway other than proper. Also don't trust Herman's recommendations for size and height. For my biometrics I found the size B too small. 3. Embody (Which what I ended up loving) out of the 3 it has the backrest that will suit and feel comfortable for most people. It feels great sitting proper or slouching. Seat bucket is large for many seating positions. Nonetheless, the chair is not perfect. As per Ahnestly's reviews, it has too much plastic so some noise is to be expected. Some people may find the backrest needing more cushion, even with the Sync fabric option (thicknest one they offer). I'd say if that's the case, make your own external padding. You don't need much, couple of yards of fabric, handheld sawing machine (or by hand if you can) and some cheap think mattress topped for $10 or any foam you like (say maybe with cooling gel). Profile the foam, cut, sandwich it between layers of fabric, sew along the profit, final cut and trim to extra fabric. And it will make the backrest much better for those who needs cushion.
Best chair for doing anything while sitting is the regular Aeron. I can work on it 8 hours straight with a 30 minute break 5 days a week, i can binge netflix or game on it for hours without problems. I'm 5'7", i've had the chair for a decade now with nothing broken on it.
I'm 5'6 as well my question is for the embody do you ever feel neck pain after 6-8+ hours of prolonged use since no headrest and since it can't go all the way back like a secretlab titan chair. Currently on between the Embody Logitech and the secretlab Titan fabric version.
Had the aeron and the embody each one for a week (none gaming version): Aeron feels more solid, the mesh is comfortable but I hated that it force you to sit in one specific way. Cant cross legs, cant sit how i want. The aeron its possibly the best to work from home. The embody feels great to me, at first it was really weird but once you get used to its just perfect. Love the freedom you get. Best for work AND enterteinment No matter what you choose, make sure to try it first.
Just got my Embody Logitech a couple of weeks ago. I've been working in offices for the better part of 35 years now and it's the most comfortable chair I've ever used. When the Atlas headrest finally comes out, I can see myself using it as an occasional lounge chair to watch TV on. It's that comfortable. Also, and this is a question of personal taste, it makes me feel like a starship captain every time I sit on it....
@@danielekirylo I guess it would depend quite a bit on what ambient temperature you prefer and your own propensity to heat up. To give you my personal experience, I like to work (and game) in about 19-20 Celsius, wearing a footer and sweatpants. I'm about 5'9'', 190lbs. I often sit for a solid three hours at a time (I know, I know...) and have never experienced either excessive heating anywhere, nor any discomfort in terms of any pressure points. With the right adjustments (which took me a couple of weeks to truly tweak) though, you'll forget you're even sitting down. I paid full price and extra transport to bring it to my country (there's nowhere to buy it here) and don't regret a penny of it.
Had an Aeron for a dozen years before passing it along to my brother... I never got super comfortable in it. The Sayl on the other hand is amazing, and I have it in Lime green/black gaming version, sooooo nice for 10 hours at the computer per day. If you work full time from home, you spend more time at your desk than in your bed, it's *well worth* spending ~$1000 to be comfortable and properly supported.
I'm 6 feet tall and I just got my Sayl 3 days go (with the height extension). Its been really comfortable so far, I haven't had any problems with the back rest, no neck pain after hours of gaming. Would definitely recommend
I was ready to purchase a Razr gaming chair over Thanksgiving when I saw one of your videos. At first I was shocked by the price of entry for one of the Herman Miller chairs but realized the benefits after watching some more of your videos. Needless to say it went from want to need right now, lol. The next time Herman Miller puts a sale I'll definitely purchase it through your affiliated link. Thanks for educating the masses bro. Our back and behind thank you too!
I was in a similar boat for a long time... I always saw the price and laughed. "Who is spending that much on a chair?" right? Its one of those things that once you experience it for a while, and go sit on a cheaper chair (even those 400$ gaming chairs) you *immediately* will be questioning why doesnt everyone get a herman miller lol.
Glad you are getting official recognition and potentially sponsors from herman miller themselves! You deserve the best bro, always a pleasure watching your videos.
My reviews of the Embody, Sayl, and Aeron after trying each for 20 minutes My size: 5'10", 170lbs, Muscular build, Wide back, longer than average legs. Embody: 7/10 Pros: - Lumbar support is not aggressive - Seat felt comfortable, but firm. No bottoming out feeling. - Adjustable seat depth - Reclining felt good - Great arm rests Cons: - The back rest is too narrow for my back, the borders touch the bones on my scapula. It was not bad or anything, just noticeable. - Back rest a little firm but flexible - The curve of the back rest keeps your back in a more upright position Sayl: 8/10 Pros: - Lumbar support is not aggressive - Seat felt comfortable, but firm. Didn't bottom out. - Adjustable Seat depth and lumbar height - Reclining was comfortable, and my lower back was still touching the back rest. - Great arm rests Cons: - The back rest is a little too narrow for my back, the borders also touched my scapula. This was not bad for anything, just noticeable - Back rest a little stiff Aeron Size C: 9/10 Aeron Size B too small for me. The seat depth left 5-6 inches between my knees and the edge of the chair. Pros: (everything on the Aeron felt like a step up from the Embody and Sayl) - Lumbar support has full depth adjustment - Mesh seatfelt like I was floating on it - Mesh back was wide enough for my back and also made my back feel like it was floating - Recline felt great - Great arm rests Cons: - No seat depth adjustment so you will have to try the chair out for size. My girlfriend who is 5'0" tall and 100 lbs also preferred the chairs in this order. She said she could sleep in the Aeron size A. She liked the Sayl second, and the embody last.
We’re the same stats. I got the size B and wish I got the size C. Feels like it tries to push me out of the chair. The lady even told me to get size C because my shoulders would touch the top back plastic part in the size b when I lean back. It is annoying
@@drblitz3092 It might be better to save your money. The chair is okay, but I find my legs don't get good circulation because the seat is stiff. This leads to my feet getting cold.
the lean forward feature is so essential for gaming and then reaching forward to adjust the goxlr, or hit the stream deck, grab a drink, basically anything like that. it's also less jolting when you scoot around to get comfortable. nice that the chair leans forward with you. i can't even go back to a chair that doesn't have this feature.
You should def go try before buying. I bought my Embody 9 months ago, I was pretty sure I wanted to get a Mirra but after trying them all (they made me literally try every single chair in the showroom), I bought it directly. :)
Check if your area has a herman miller showroom. You probably won't be able to pick up your chair right on site but you should be able to test and see them in person
I own a Sayl. I love it because it helps me sit correctly when doing work but it also allows me to sit on my leg or to rest my leg on a table. I also have this chair at my office. I hate the fully adj. arms. I went with basic arms for home use and I'm happy with my purchase. 6:50 that should be an encouragement to get up and do some stretches away from the chair hah
Love the video. I've had the standard Embody for almost a year now. You mentioned the new scrim foam being implemented in the standard Embody in "May 2021" I just wanted to point out that it was added in February. My Embody was actually one of the very first to get the scrim added (2/7/21) so I lucked out. Also thanks for that tip of sliding down the back of the chair to get in that proper position. Some days my chair feels perfect and others it feels off and I think it may be due to that, so far that tip has helped. Keep it up, can't wait for the Atlast headrest!
I still have the Aeron over the Embody because of the following; -Mesh seats: (fabric is an immediate deal-breaker for me as I find it less breathable and more challenging to maintain) -Wider shoulders: (I haven't tried the Embody for too long but a quick try had me feeling that the top of the chair didn't cover enough of the width of my shoulders -Modular replacement: I can literally replace almost any individual part of the Aeron by sourcing it from so many different parties that I never have to replace the chair. Just that one part. -Price: I originally bought the Aeron for ~350 CAD years ago from a liquidator. I would have to pay 2-3X that amount to get a used Embody.
The Aeron remains the more uncomfortable chair I have ever tried and I have tried a million. The use of plastic has to stop they need to use a more rubbery material that will contour to your legs. For reference I’m 6’1 235
@@intelligence6900 Does the plastic dig into your legs? I'm curious. I'm also 6'1 but am ~180lbs. I prefer a more firm/stiff chair and don't like much give/cushion. Guessing the requirements are different if there's more mass?
@@mohamedahmed1023 the plastic digs into my thighs so bad it’s just utter pain and the seat cushion is just too hard my but was on fire for 3 days before I called it quits.
I've gone through a considerable number of videos, probably around 30 or more, as I delve into the market for a HM chair. Your sincerity and captivating presentation style truly stood out to me. As a result, I couldn't resist hitting that like button and subscribing to your channel!
@@Ahnestly Haha, no flex intended, mate! Just living that sushi and ramen life over here. 😅 Bummer about the links, though. Keep on rocking your channel, I'll keep tuning in! 🎌✌🏾
Props to you including the factoid about the scrim foam on the newer models of the Embody. I don't think I've seen a single other reviewer mention that, and I only found myself through a lot of research.
I love my Sayl chair. Didn't want to spend 1000+ for good chair. Found it in official reseller store new for like 630$ maxed out. 12 years warranty and its so comfortable. Tried embody, aeron and mirra 2 and couldn't justify double or triple the price for my purpose. But ultimate advice is that you need to try them all before buying. They are all good, but you don't know if it's good for you.
Purchased and returned (or at least waiting to return, HM is dragging their feet) the gaming embody. It wasn’t loud or creaky which is nice, but even with the added seat padding i could feel each individual “spring” stabbing into my butt while sitting. I’m 205 lbs. not terribly light, but well under the weight limit. Ordered an Aeron and keeping fingers crossed that it works out for me.
I have both the aeron and gaming embody. Overall, the aeron wins, It is just more comfortable , breathable, it's hard to explain but you don't notice that you're sitting on anything. The embody is great but it doesn't reach the same level of comfort as the aeron, it's still a great chair thought . I'll keep the embody because it looks amazing, it's going to be my work chair for typing, task, etc. The aeron will be my longing chair to watch videos and chill. If you are looking for a chair, nothing will beat a used Aeron, it's just the overall best choice for comfort and price. You can find an aeron used remastered for 800-1000 and a classic for 350-500. The gaming embody in the other hand, is more pricey in the used market, around 1000-1400.
I have the embody gaming edition. I have to say I find the seat more comfortable than the Aeron, which I find to be less comfortable for a number of reasons. I find the Aeron doesn't support my back as well due to it's back not being as adjustable or flexible for that matter. The seat on the embody is larger and provides a more plush feeling while also being very supportive.
Thanks for the kind words!! Appreciate it! You started a year ago and you're already at 16k!!! If you do decide to pick up the Aeron, let me know how you like it! And please consider using my link - helps the channel a lot!!
The Sayl was probably the worst chair I’ve sat on. It was so uncomfortable that I started to wonder if Hm really made it. The Aeron and embody however were great! I ended up with an Aeron as I was too short for the embody. It was the best investment I’ve ever made. Got a back injury and it felt better than my bed. Helped me recover way quicker.
I can see when you finished siting review on Aeron and Sayl you get back to Embody immediately, body languages dont lie. Love your videos, and brought an Aeron based on your review.
The Sayl and the Embody look a lot cooler then the Aeron (this is subjective but I think most would agree). However, I think the more plain look of the Aeron is a big advantage. People who list them for sale are less likely to know they have something expensive, and will list much cheaper.
Grats man! I was one of the people who saw the Used Aeron vid and insta subbed because of the level of insight that you offered for your chair reviews. Was even able to snag a fully loaded OG Aeron for about half of what the used market around me was going for. Great to see Herman Miller recognizing you and what you offer with your channel.
Dan, you can add the lumbar support after the fact. I have the Gaming Sayl in Neon Green and I was told that I could add the lumbar support at any time via customer service. Just something to consider. Good video!
You literally answered a lot of questions I had about those 3 specific Herman Miller chairs. Gonna check out the solo review of the Embody. I hope there will be a price drop in my region sometime. Currently it cost 1.595,00 € where I live.
Ahn, finally. Your comparison review is golden. I now know which one i need to get (non-gaming Embody). Thanks for your efforts in creating this video. Happy new year to you.
Can you please also make a video/ a review about the Herman Miller Mirra 2. I would really appreciate that. That would be amazing. Thanks for all the videos, i love them 😊
I've had an Aeron and a Mirra 2, but my current and favourite chair is the Humanscale Freedom. It's hardly a gaming chair per se, but I can sit in it for 12-14 hours a day with zero issues. I bought it because my back was giving me crap, and since I've been using it, nothing (at least not caused by sitting too long). It doesn't quite have the adjustability of the Aeron, such as the pitch forward, but I can't say I've missed that too much.
That’s so interesting. I owned a freedom a few years back and I HATED it SOOOO much. I felt like my back was tearing apart every day but kept on bc it was an expensive chair. This is why I tell folks that there is no perfect one size fits all chair!!
Tried all of these except the Sayl - ended up going with the Cosm. Too many people pass on it because of its auto adjusting features but I love the way they work and the absolute peak design of the thing. Nightfall is also a great colorway for it.
@@Ahnestly let me know if you have any questions - it's a bit unique in how it handles staying upright or reclining based on how high you have it set, whether your feet are resting up on a footstool or on the ground, and whether you're resting against on the backrest and how much, etc. But it's super comfortable, supports my lumbar area while conforming to the rest of my body, and is hands down the best looking chair in the HM lineup in my opinion. What color and arm setup did you get? I went with Leaf Arms since they flatten out when I recline comfortably - but I also ordered the adjustable arms as a backup if I ever get tired of them (hasn't happened in the past 6 months so I don't think it will, IMO, but we'll see.)
Wished you uploaded this video before the November discount! bought the sayl but with a light-coloured cushion 😅but I am really happy about buying it and videos like yours helped me in my decisions, so thank you!
I have the embody gaming chair and bought a really solid after market headrest to complete the design. I can't wait for the factory headrest and hope I can add it after the fact.
ahnestly you rock your vids are complete you don't bias towards your personal choices... im in between the remarstered aeron or the embody gaming id need the head rests....
dang thanks for the kind words!!! If it helps at all, let me be biased for a minute...EMBODY ALL THE WAY BABY. ALL DAY EVERYDAY. HANDS DOWN. EMBODYYYYYY *ahem* but in all seriousness, I love the Aeron. It's my first chair love. But the Embody did away with my back issues while allowing me to feel more comfortable and sit however I want in it! Haha hope this helps! If you decide to pick up, please consider using my links! Helps the video a LOT!
Great video! Picked up an aeron because of your videos and am saving up to get an atlas head rest to complete the chair, as I'm kind of tall and need the extra support. Your content just keeps getting better and better! Can't wait to see more!
I'm bewildered by the positive reviews on the Embody. Mine came in recently and after spending a week playing around with the settings, it's still the most uncomfortable chair I've sat in. It felt good in the showroom but at home for long periods, it beats you up. The cushion doesn't do a good job distributing weight off your tail bone so you're sore afterwards. You try to alleviate that by leaning back but then that puts pressure and numbs your butt and thighs. When you want to sit upright it doesn't have enough lumbar support. I wonder if there is some kind of trick or technique to it but this review is saying 'this is a chair good for sitting however you want'. For such a hyped chair with all these reviewers, it was a a disappointing experience
Gamin guys, I’m a gamer, save your money with the gaming embody, the classic ones have more color and fabric padding choices. I got mine for little more than 1000. And it doesn’t make noise!
6ft 130lbs, I have a Logitech x Embody and its great! However... I REALLY need a headrest. I consume a LOT of media and notice some neck pain if I was consuming a lot of media. During work or gaming, I am completely fine (probably because I lean more forward when gaming). So, looking forward to the Atlas headrest, however I'm not too stoked about the company itself. Their site really seems to have manipulated reviews, the reviews seem real, but each product has ONLY 5* reviews. Not a single review under 5*'s. Even a perfect product will get a few 4* reviews.
I am so happy that you finally were able to review the Sayl. I have been anxiously awaiting for you to post this video, and alas, I missed it 2 weeks ago. Oh well, I am still very happy to watch it. I think it is probably the chair for me. It provides a good amount of features for me as well as being nice on the cost.
I was looking for new chair for over year now and I tried Aeon and didn't really like it (prefer cushioned seats without sharp/hard edges). Its pretty hard to get other models here, but I would not like shape of Sayl back rest either. Embody not yet available here yet with ETA early next year. In the end I went with Accis Pro from Profim which I had chance to test last week and it was 1st chair that felt fully comfortable. On top of all usual stuff it offers pretty unique feature that allows chair seat and back to lean left and right with whole body (it can be disabled). Overall build looks better than its price suggest, It have shorter warranty, but chairs I used before anyway either got issues within 1st 1-2 years or not at all and for Herman Miller prices could buy same chair 2-3 times if needed.
I am looking for a high quality office chair with arm rest that can move away or tilt up to make the chair feel like there are no arm rest. This is one huge functionality for guitar players. I found many cheap options on Amazon but there were several negative reviews. HM Aaron looks perfect if the Arms rest can tilt 90 degree or remove easily.
Ya you can do that wedging at 27:46 in with the Embody and that makes it feel enveloping and comfortable, but at least on the non gaming one your butt is going to slide forward on the slippery seat and you'll find yourself slouching in no time, and it's very uncomfortable then. This is the main reason I sold mine.
Aeron is the best for me. I went to a store and tried out a bunch of different chairs and always went back to the Aeron. The embody didn’t feel that great to me, especially with all the hype it gets online. But to each their own, that’s why they make different chairs for all different types of people haha
A little hack with the Aeron, if you are a small to medium build person getting the largest size "C" will let you easily sit with legs crossed and not hit the frame.
I found my arms felt abandoned (since they’re pretty far apart) and the front lip can be too long to sit comfortably. I just wasn’t as comfortable in the c when I tried it!
I freaking love my Aeron. It forces me to practice good and healthy posture which makes me SIGNIFICANTLY more productive. Don’t buy this chair if all you want is comfort - better look at lazy boys or lounge chairs. The Aeron is, hands down, the best ergonomic chair I’ve had in my entire life! Hopefully mine lasts a lifetime 😆
Can you review their budget option, the Verus? Literally no review exists for this anywhere, I’m so confused as to why no one has reviewed this chair yet.
Generally, their budget chairs are NOT meant to be sit in all day chairs. I haven’t gotten a lot of requests for it, so unfortunately don’t have plans to review it
I'm so glad I found your video! :) Out of all the videos I've watched this was definitely the kind of informative video I was looking for. I was debating between the Aeron/Aeron Gaming, and Embody/Embody Gaming, and ended up solidifying my decision to get the Embody Gaming after watching your video ^^~
Thanks for the detailed review, but you did not mention the type of material used on the gaming version of the Sayl, which is the same as the Embody. This is not present on the non-gaming model of the chair. In addition, have seen a lot of reviews and even had a Herman Miller representative basically say that the lumbar support is worthless (not their exact words).
I sit in a Aeron at work. Sometimes for 4-6 hours. If you don't have meat on your butt or hips it can be a painful chair your hip bones and coccyx. I still ended getting an additional lumber support pad. Could be I'm not in the wrong size. I wasn't aware until this video.
Excellent review! I'm glad I've found your channel, I'm going to a dealer to try out HM chairs in a couple days and your videos have made me feel far more prepared for what to look for. I'm 6' 2" so I feel like a 3rd party headrest will be a must if I go for a Embody or Aeron
i just bought the branch ergonomic chair but the day it came someone in my family asked if i want their classic aeron for free. i really like to sit one leg crossed legged and i will use it for gaming so i'm wondering which one is better with this info.
I LOVE my embody...and the headrest is DEF coming. My suggestion is grab it now and return it if you don't like it before the window closes (super easy to do). If you decide to pick up, please consider using my link! Helps the channel a lot!!
Herman Miller has been selling a new version of the base fixed lumbar on it's chairs. It's called ZSS fixed posturefit I believe. I tried it on a chair that was too big for me and it was useless. Would love to hear what you think about it.
I'm 5'11, 160lbs. I tried the Sayl and Embody in store briefly and am torn. Is the max seat height the same on both? Not sure the Embody is worth paying double for...
Having been in the task chair industry for well over a decade, I can assure you that Herman Miller products are good quality, as per their warranty, but they are not good technically speaking. The design is decades old. They have heritage and respect, but if you want an excellent chair, you want the Steelcase Gesture chair.
from Atlasheadrest..."Our headrest has been thoroughly evaluated over the past 10 plus years. When installed according to our instructions, the headrest will not void the chair warranty." You see something different?
What I love about the embody design is that, because the back is so narrow, I can slide up really close to the desk so that my elbows can be tucked back behind the backrest.
I've owned an Embody for years but have never got it setup correctly. HM's instructions are bad and I don't really know how it should feel when set up perfecly 😭. Any tips??
I mentioned a bit in the video how to "properly" sit in the Embody. I always recommend tightening the back quite a bit but then leaving it unlocked on the first tab. Your chair should "lean back" very slightly for a more natural position versus being rigged and straight 90 degrees. As for the back flex, that's personal preference! I like mine about midway in terms of tightness
@@Ahnestly hey! Thanks for the reply! I meant that I don't know how to adjust the backfit. It's supposed to hug you and make you feel "floaty". However, I've never gotten anything other than back pain. The instructions say to adjust a certain way for curved backs and another for flat backs, but how do I even know what a curved back is? It's a bit frustrating. Your tip to slide back as you show is useful though, thanks!
@@sebascorrea97 I had back pain too with the Embody, never got it right, always slid around and slouched on it, couldn't get a good seat. Sold it after 3+ years, just ordered an Aeron
@@TheMuffinMan01 I hope the Aeron fits you well! If you have the option, don't hesitate to return it if it doesn't feel great. I've ordered a LeapV2 which should come in about 20 days. Thing is I can't return it if I hate it :(.
This is an incredible video. Did not help me in terms of what chair i want though lol. Its too bad i find all three of these chairs so comfortable lmao
Is it possible to completly sit straight in the Sayl while having your back against the back rest? I need to sit straight in order to not get any backpain and for example in a lot of gaming chairs you can't sit straight while having your back against the back rest. Great videos btw. They are helping a lot.
Yes, you can sit straight up, but you may want to consider getting a non gaming Sayl and get the extra lumbar support if you feel like you want extra support! If you decide to pick up, please consider using my links as it helps my channel a LOT! Also, HM has an excellent return policy, so keep the box in case you end up not likingi t!!
I like to sit in a slouched position, kinda like a position sitting in a sofa recliner sitting position. Which chair is better for sitting slouched like a sofa recliner?

Hey man, i dont wana leave a bad review and be a hater, but honestly the whole video just came across like a total add, and felt like you were trying to sell these so hard.
@@blue9906 the aeron was the only chair that helped with my back pain and once I tried the embody, it became my favorite chair of all time. The Sayl is also a great chair imho and I’ve reviewed a lot of chairs. I have plenty more “objective reviews” if that’s what you’re looking for. This video is clearly titled a buying guide, not “should you buy one”!
People who haven’t experienced lumbar pain find it hard to understand the relief that the embody provides.
Can you start adding what the weight limits of these chairs are?
embody is the best chair ever. aeron is for people who cant have an embody in an office scenario for whatever reason@@mgrth
But I am giving my opinion after trying both chairs for more time than most people would be able to and think this might be useful to a potential buyer.
great feedback on both chairs, I personally have an Aeron (non-gaming but fully loaded) and agree with p much everything you said.
"With the Aeron I did sometimes get pain on the rear side of my legs (hamstring area). I don't really know why that is, there are some days that I do get this pain and some days where I never get it."
I 100% agree with you the aeron fely much more comfortable in every aspect. Like you said when i sat in the embody my shoulders felt rounded forward due to the high back curvature.
great review, how tall are you?
@@jjoohhhnn I'm 5'7.
a lot of people criticize the Aeron for not being able to sit in it however you want, but after sitting in it for a month or two, I think that's the wrong way to approach it.
it passively improves your posture because it encourages a more ergonomic sitting position. and because of this, you won't feel the need to move around as much. your body doesn't fatigue as quickly when sitting properly.
You do an EXCELLENT job reviewing. I feel like most reviews follow a basic pattern but somehow yours feels more genuine and real. Great job!
Hey thank you so much!! Really appreciate it!
Hey! Thank you SO much for the thanks!!! I'm glad this video helped!!
7-10 years? Don't Herman Miller's come with a 12 year parts and labor warranty?
Below is my feedback (bulletins are not an order of which is better but in order of what made sense for me to present)
@@sepg5084 Matter of opinion I guess because I couldn't sit in the Aeron for 30 minutes before it bothered me.
I'm 5'6 as well my question is for the embody do you ever feel neck pain after 6-8+ hours of prolonged use since no headrest and since it can't go all the way back like a secretlab titan chair. Currently on between the Embody Logitech and the secretlab Titan fabric version.
5’6 and 175 with lower back issues? Sounds like you need to lose weight and that’ll help your lower back
@@matthew7972 It was an injury... I probably look better than you do (shape wise) that weight isn't all in the guts.
Best for work AND enterteinment
No matter what you choose, make sure to try it first.
"at first it was really weird but once you get used to its just perfect" exactly how I feel about mine. so damn good!
They may have been caught deleting reviews. Buyer beware.
Bro I have the same chair and have the odyssey g9. DEFINITELY starship captain lol
@@vincentvillanueva6081 Lucky you 👍 I only have a G5
How does the breathability work for you? I do long hours for home office and I want a chair that doesn't warm up and get your ars all sweety.
I HAD ALL 3 AND SAYL IS MY FAVOURITE

My reviews of the Embody, Sayl, and Aeron after trying each for 20 minutes
My size:
5'10", 170lbs, Muscular build, Wide back, longer than average legs.
Embody: 7/10
Pros:
- Lumbar support is not aggressive
- Seat felt comfortable, but firm. No bottoming out feeling.
- Adjustable seat depth
- Reclining felt good
- Great arm rests
Cons:
- The back rest is too narrow for my back, the borders touch the bones on my scapula. It was not bad or anything, just noticeable.
- Back rest a little firm but flexible
- The curve of the back rest keeps your back in a more upright position
Sayl: 8/10
Pros:
- Lumbar support is not aggressive
- Seat felt comfortable, but firm. Didn't bottom out.
- Adjustable Seat depth and lumbar height
- Reclining was comfortable, and my lower back was still touching the back rest.
- Great arm rests
Cons:
- The back rest is a little too narrow for my back, the borders also touched my scapula. This was not bad for anything, just noticeable
- Back rest a little stiff
Aeron Size C: 9/10
Aeron Size B too small for me. The seat depth left 5-6 inches between my knees and the edge of the chair.
Pros: (everything on the Aeron felt like a step up from the Embody and Sayl)
- Lumbar support has full depth adjustment
- Mesh seatfelt like I was floating on it
- Mesh back was wide enough for my back and also made my back feel like it was floating
- Recline felt great
- Great arm rests
Cons:
- No seat depth adjustment so you will have to try the chair out for size.
Already own an Embody and Sayl but I love watching these videos anyway.
same I got an embody, love it to bits
which one do you like more? which one do you find more comfortable
the lean forward feature is so essential for gaming and then reaching forward to adjust the goxlr, or hit the stream deck, grab a drink, basically anything like that. it's also less jolting when you scoot around to get comfortable. nice that the chair leans forward with you. i can't even go back to a chair that doesn't have this feature.
I always wanted an Embody, but that Sayl looks VERY interesting. I need to find a place to try them both out.
You are right! My chair came in December...so was SO sad to hear about this layer...
I still have the Aeron over the Embody because of the following;
-Mesh seats: (fabric is an immediate deal-breaker for me as I find it less breathable and more challenging to maintain)
-Wider shoulders: (I haven't tried the Embody for too long but a quick try had me feeling that the top of the chair didn't cover enough of the width of my shoulders
-Modular replacement: I can literally replace almost any individual part of the Aeron by sourcing it from so many different parties that I never have to replace the chair. Just that one part.
-Price: I originally bought the Aeron for ~350 CAD years ago from a liquidator. I would have to pay 2-3X that amount to get a used Embody.
Noice!!

Props to you including the factoid about the scrim foam on the newer models of the Embody. I don't think I've seen a single other reviewer mention that, and I only found myself through a lot of research.
Glad it helped! I have a lot of eyes and ears from followers helping with this stuff!
How did the Aeron work out for you? I am thinking about returning my non-gaming Embody in order to try the Aeron Gaming.
After watching a bunch of your videos I'm so glad I found this channel. Great job

I currently have aeron 2 in my office and sayl at home.
SAYL all the way.
Spoiler for his favorite chair: He is sitting in it for 95% of the video.
LOL I am not biased in any wa....I love the Embody.
@@Ahnestly😂
@@nat2r Good point, not gonna lie, the embody looks so good that it makes me excited to go sit on it
Completely disagree. The embody is more comfortable. Listen to the reviewer m he has the same opinion.
@@upurbum_Official to each their own. The Aeron is a bestseller for a reason. It's in the Smithsonian lol
Amazing the growth on your channel over the past few years. Content is coming out great, keep it up!! Thinking to buy the Aeron!
Interesting! I'm glad you found one that fit for you!!
@@Ahnestly thanks!
How tall are you?

I can see when you finished siting review on Aeron and Sayl you get back to Embody immediately, body languages dont lie. Love your videos, and brought an Aeron based on your review.
Bought an aeron with your method. I love seeing it everywhere
Nice!!
I sold Aeron classic(c size) and bought Embody.
My height is 189cm.
Embody is more comfortable.
This channel is so underrated
Great video !
Heyyy thank you so much for the kind words!!
The Sayl and the Embody look a lot cooler then the Aeron (this is subjective but I think most would agree). However, I think the more plain look of the Aeron is a big advantage. People who list them for sale are less likely to know they have something expensive, and will list much cheaper.
Simpler, yes, but the Aeron is a modern design classic.
Yeah it's about that price here in the USA as well
This review was excellent and full of useful information, thank you.
I'm glad you liked it!! I still remember recording this video...one of my longest shoots! I'm glad it was worth it!!!
Ahn, finally. Your comparison review is golden. I now know which one i need to get (non-gaming Embody). Thanks for your efforts in creating this video. Happy new year to you.
Woot woot! Glad I could help! If you do decide to buy, please consider using my links as it helps this channel a LOT! Happy New Years!!
can not wait for the embody headrest!
Can you please also make a video/ a review about the Herman Miller Mirra 2. I would really appreciate that. That would be amazing. Thanks for all the videos, i love them 😊
I need the same thing with Steelcase chairs. Thank you, Ahnestly.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! GREAT VIDEO, GREAT PRODUCT AND A GREAT EDUCATION!!!! I LOVE ALL HERMAN MILLER PRODUCTS!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!
Lol thank you!
Tried all of these except the Sayl - ended up going with the Cosm. Too many people pass on it because of its auto adjusting features but I love the way they work and the absolute peak design of the thing. Nightfall is also a great colorway for it.
Nice! I’m getting mine february (shipping delays are real!). Can’t wait to review
I went with Leaf Arms since they flatten out when I recline comfortably - but I also ordered the adjustable arms as a backup if I ever get tired of them (hasn't happened in the past 6 months so I don't think it will, IMO, but we'll see.)
my friend convinced me to get the fire red lol. Fully loaded with leaf arms
What a great comprehensive face to face!
I completely agree that the lumbar support is lacking on the Embody as opposed to the Aeron. (for reference I'm 194cm weighing 85kg)
First time viewer, you rock mate. Funny, and very good review. Cheers!
so underrated. greetings from germany
Another one from Deutschland! Mein Freund! Danke Schoen!!
@@Ahnestly haha :)
Thank you for this !!! Love the all-black sayl design and this video sold me !
Woot woot! If you pick up online, please consider using my link! Helps this channel a LOT!
ahnestly you rock your vids are complete you don't bias towards your personal choices... im in between the remarstered aeron or the embody gaming id need the head rests....
dang thanks for the kind words!!! If it helps at all, let me be biased for a minute...EMBODY ALL THE WAY BABY. ALL DAY EVERYDAY. HANDS DOWN. EMBODYYYYYY
*ahem* but in all seriousness, I love the Aeron.
I had a similar issue. Just got Aeron, its best.
Gamin guys, I’m a gamer, save your money with the gaming embody, the classic ones have more color and fabric padding choices. I got mine for little more than 1000. And it doesn’t make noise!
Wow, now I'm confused about which one to pick... I'll have to watch the review a few more times...:)
Maybe you leave it on loop and go on vacation for a few weeks and forget to turn it off? Lolol jk let me know if you have questions!
130lbs? Damn lol.
@@frostybe3r I know, built like a tank.

Nice nice!! If you do decied to pick it up, please consider using my links as it really helps! Glad I could help with your decision making!
Got the Embody. Love it so far. Just had to fine tune the settings
Yeah some tweaking required!
This is the best review of all time thanks
You’re very welcome! Thanks for the kind words!!!
is the embody ok during summer time?
I ordered the gaming embody, it's on it's way, can't wait to try it and get rid of this old rigid walmart chair I got many years ago lol
You reviewed the first 2 chairs and chose to remain seated in the embody. Tells me everything 😂
Hahahaha love it.
What are the four chairs with forward tilt? Aeron, Sayl , ?, ? This was my fav Aeron feature.
Great perspective
Hopefully mine lasts a lifetime 😆
yep, same here. bought mine a month ago and haven't looked back.
Can you guys sit in here for a couple of hours??
Herman Miller should mix the 3 and make one perfect chair.
Nice! if you decide to buy online, please consider using my link as it helps this channel a lot! I really hope you enjoy!!
so do you just like... "go" in your chair or...?
Thanks for the detailed review, but you did not mention the type of material used on the gaming version of the Sayl, which is the same as the Embody. This is not present on the non-gaming model of the chair. In addition, have seen a lot of reviews and even had a Herman Miller representative basically say that the lumbar support is worthless (not their exact words).
Wish I had the money for one of these. Great video dude thank you man.
Thanks for the video, I just used your link under the video to buy my embody!
I don't think my butt is particularly meaty, but I love my Aeron!! But different strokes for different folks!!
Niceee!!
i just bought the branch ergonomic chair but the day it came someone in my family asked if i want their classic aeron for free. i really like to sit one leg crossed legged and i will use it for gaming so i'm wondering which one is better with this info.
Love my Aeron, don't toss your phone onto the seat because it will go flying... learned that the hard way
LOLLL I've done this too!!
So close to buying the embody with the current deal but I just can’t get over the fact it doesn’t have a headrest. Hope atlas makes the release soon
Have you tried the Haworth Fern? If so, how does it compare to the Embody?
I'm 5'11, 160lbs. I tried the Sayl and Embody in store briefly and am torn. Is the max seat height the same on both? Not sure the Embody is worth paying double for...
Having been in the task chair industry for well over a decade, I can assure you that Herman Miller products are good quality, as per their warranty, but they are not good technically speaking. The design is decades old. They have heritage and respect, but if you want an excellent chair, you want the Steelcase Gesture chair.
I have the atlas headrest. Atlas even states that it voids your warranty. You may want to update that!
from Atlasheadrest..."Our headrest has been thoroughly evaluated over the past 10 plus years. When installed according to our instructions, the headrest will not void the chair warranty."
You see something different?
What I love about the embody design is that, because the back is so narrow, I can slide up really close to the desk so that my elbows can be tucked back behind the backrest.
When is the headrest coming for the embody? im leaning forward when im gaming what do you recommend for me? what do you think about the vantum chair?
I got an aeron and found a mesh ottoman that’s similarly color matched and sit in it like a lounge chair lol
I got the Sayl on sale for 300 bucks because it was open box. I'm excited to try it out. I'm not super tall so it should be a good for me.
Where did you find it on sale? Open box for 300 bucks is a sweet deal
@@nbhao96 It's an office furniture store near me. All I had to do is go pick it up.
I think the Mirra 2 is the best Herman Miller "gaming chair". :)
I plan to check it out, but it's gonna be a while!
