    I dont know what I am talking about but the angle of the body when reclined doesn't look natural, healthy or 3ven comfortable. It has put me off buying one for years.
    Its the way it bends you neck and pushes the head forward.

  • @letoxicm8930
    @letoxicm8930 Месяц назад +6

    if your upper body is tall, the headrest will jam on your shoulder which is super uncomfortable. I am 6 foot tall, these chairs are absolutely no go unless they have ways to increase the height of the headrest. Other than that, the chair does felt very "solid" and pretty comfortable.

    • @paolo.v

      but the headrest high can be adjusted, no?

      It is not enough, also if you tall, you elbows will not touch elbow rests. This chair is a disaster. I'll have to modify it myself as noone buying it second hand. I bought it about 700eur with a small deffect.

    I think in some respects the Freedom + headrest is one of the most, if not the most comfortable office chair. The padding & shaping of seat, back and headrest are incredibly comfortable for me, armrests are comfortable too though I prefer they were closer to my body. I think the movement of the chair is very nice too and works as beautifully sitting in the chair as it looks when you watch somebody else recline. The issue I found is how the movement of the chair and the geometry of the main supporting surfaces don't exactly synchronize perfectly. It is not exactly the problem the BTOD guys describe, in my experience/perspective. But there is something to it, where, if you adjust seat pan, backrest, headrest to fit like a glove when upright, then when you recline, the geometry and relative placement of these surfaces in supporting my body changes and it is no longer perfect. Adjusting for a better fit in recline mode leaves less than perfection in the fit going back to upright position. Maybe it's just my personal proportions or maybe I'm imagining things... I am jealous of anybody who decides to go for this chair and experience what a great, luxurious ergonomic-to-lounge solution it is.

      This is why it took so long for me to review this chair…I was positive I was going to hate this chair like I did all those years ago (Pre RUclips review days!) when I bought it on a whim looking for a new chair. But when I found out about the hidden adjustment for the self adjust recline…GAME. CHANGER. also, the headrest makes it a lot more complete of a chair!!
      The one I bought used a while back, the self adjust tilt was so loose. Felt like my back was breaking. 2 weeks of using it this time for 8+ hours a day and I loved it!! No issues at all!!

    I'm sitting in my second Freedom chair and I love it. I got the gel upgrade in the seat of the first one I owned and, while it was comfortable, it had durability issues. It developed creases and the gel began to leak out.

    I'd love to see a video for heavy duty chairs - chairs that support 350lbs or more. Many have horrible design flaws that you don't realize until it's too late to return them, e.g. back mount fails, cheap gas cylinder, poorly constructed base and wheel inserts, tilt risk when a larger person leans back, etc.. As a 375lbs man of 6'3" I've had no luck with office chairs and can't find one that holds up or doesn't want to kill me - including the gesture which feels like it's trying to rip out my spine through my butt if I sit in it for more than 10 minutes.

  • @S7tronic
    @S7tronic 7 месяцев назад +2

    Thanks for the detailed review. I had a Freedom headrest for the last 7 years, sold it recently and bought a Gesture headrest. I found the seat cushion foam (non gel type) was quite shallow and I bottomed out on the hard plastic after a few years of use and ended up using lots of cushions, last one being an amazon gel seat cushion. I'm 6'1" and 90kg's. The backrest and headrest could also do with a bit more cushioning IMO. The chair got a bit squeaky and rattled near the end, but held up well apart from that. I found out about the allen key tip on a forum..daft as you say it makes a huge difference to the chair. One thing that was amazing and I miss with the gesture is how the arms move when you recline-the Gestures are fixed.

There is a company and 2 chairs from them that has me perplexed because so little reviews and yet they seem like they would be top tier in the mid price category. Can you please add to your reviews a Singapore company called Hinomi and review and compare their two models called the H1 pro V2 and the newest X1?

  • @jackboxer7537
    @jackboxer7537 7 месяцев назад

    Humanscale is foolish to make their chairs' tilt tension adjustment "secret" and inaccessible. Their chairs auto-adjust tilt tension based on the user's weight, but tilt tension is a function of weight AND HEIGHT! Take two users, both 200 lbs, but one is 5'1" and the other is 6'3", sitting on the exact same office chair. The 6'3" user will recline more easily than the 5'1" user because the former's weight is applied higher up the backrest, further away from the axis of rotation (the mechanism under the seat).

    My work sent me this chair to use at home and I sent it back to them. Buyer beware; I found the lumbar of this chair to be very aggressive and the arm rests, while great that they stay in good form when reclining, were way too far apart for me.
    I am 5'9" for the record.

    I have this chair and it has always been a little stiff on the lean back. This is fine for me at like 14 stone but if my partner sits on it, at more like 9 stone, then when she leans back it doesn't even register. I've oft jokingly referred to it as a sexist chair as such. Apparently adjustable all along!

  • @alishmee

    What would you recommend on a old/refurbished/new chair at most $7-800? I have the freedom without headrest and have considered a used freedom with headrest for around $400. That problem is that I have some lower back pain with the chair, although I am not sure if it’s because of my settings or the cushion being stiff (this one was refurbished by Madison Seating). I’m 5’7” about 200 lbs and work from home but also need something for gaming. I would definitely prefer something with good lumbar. I would also love to get it with a headrest. Have been considering a Haworth Fern, HM embody (used through Madison seating), HM Vantum, or Freedom with headrest (also used from a local seller that sells liquidated office products). The freedom is coming out the cheapest at around $430 with the other 3 being 700+

    I have one. They're lovely when new. The longevity sucks. Sure, it's the most comfortable uncomfortable seat there is. You can feel it being right for your spine. Mine is worn out in 3 years. The pull-handle just broke off one day, the frame creaks and bangs and makes noise like it's going to break. The swivel is failing. The gel pads are falling off the armrests and the headrest moves out of position annoyingly. Relegated to guest chair, I now have something else.
