  • Today, Ted has a special Kawai Piano and special tuning to accompany it. This piano has a Werckmeister III temperament, tuned to 432 Hz! As you'll hear in the video, Ted was inspired to do this by a Kawai Piano Technician who loved The Beatles as much as he does. Take a listen and let us know in the comments if you can hear the difference! I can absolutely notice the difference. It’s so damn pretty

    It's subtle, but noticeable. I tuned my Casio PRIVIA to 432 /Werckmeister and played "The Long And Winding Road"... Yep, there it is, that sound from the record.

    The pitch difference is subtle and most people would never notice it. It is the temperament which makes the difference and I think the Werckmeister temperament is brighter. Definitely more suited to pop.

    I have exprerienced some things on Chopin's op 28, so to say, ET and 440 do not fully work, so I detuned, and selected Werckmeister like you, and suddenly came up with a solid feeling that it worked

    I can change the temperament on my Kawai ES120 using the piano remote app. It’s really fun to play around with!

    Nice piano, simply gorgeous and a great sound for a small piano - U prefer the equal temperament 440, but a great experiment overall. Great video and I am a harsh critic.

    It would have been nice if you had modulate to the remote keys of C# or F# (or even the less remote keys of Eb, Ab and A major like the first improv at A440). I am a big fan of well temperaments, notably Bremmer EBVT III... and I have used the 432 tuning on some pianos that were horriblly flat and at risk of string breakage if a full pitch raise were performed. If I ran a vocal studio I would have my pianos at A432. Much kinder to the voice, especiallly around the common baritone break of E4!

      Bingo!! That's what it's all about, fatter, richer easier vocals!!

    Do any of the Digitals or Hybrids have this as an option? I suspect 432 is easy enough to dial in, but the Werkmeister temperament?
    (My Allen Organ has Werkmeister as an optional temperament, but I've never tried it at 432.)

      My Kawai DG30 digital grand has several different temperaments including Werkmeister and can ofcourse be tuned down to 432
      Lot of fun (and interesting)

      Most of them do, some of the more economical models not so much temperament, but pitch.

    resilience of GL10 to stay at 440Hz, could it be due to SO-LID manufacturing technique?

    Do you advise for or against tuning my 2023 GX-2 60th Anniversary Edition GP to the Werckmeister III temperament A=432hz?

      @tedbarsalou833 3 месяца назад +1

      IF I had one, yes I would do that, simply personal preference. it won;t hurt the piano.

    testing a high res FFT algorithm, where you can actually see each note pitch, with the differences between 440 and 432Hz tuning. I've just posted a comment but it seems to be lost.
