    Great review. Thanks. 👍 I’ve also seen your KDP120 review. Although the ES120 is more portable, I’d need to check both to test action and sounds. Not concerned about portability as I’d buy the cabinet for the ES120. It’ll be good to listen to the ES120 and KDP120 as they’re similarly priced too.

    currently love my ES110. I love how fast, light, responsive, and quick the action is. i just wish the action was QUIETER. so now seeing that the ES120 action is quieter, it's tempting to upgrade. but one thing worries me. Does the added cushioning and other action changes to make it quieter also change the way the action FEELs to play? how would you compare it to how it feels to play the ES110? Especially in terms of super fast passages, rapid repeated notes with finger exchanges, and trills/ornaments (big for baroque music)? The main reason i chose the ES110 was because it had a much more quick/light/responsive action compared to other offerings in the same price range from Roland/Yamaha/Casio when i tried them in showrooms. so if i ever upgraded i would really want the same feeling action.
    Thank you in advance

    If you measure the power consumption of the speakers while playing piano, you can expect about 1 watt or even less per channel at maximum volume. The 10-watt per channel number is more of a technical specification you won't use in real life. It basically means you feed the amplifier a pure sine wave at a certain frequency using a purely resistive load (let's say, 4 ohm resistor). Kawai doesn't specify whether that number is continuous, program, peak, etc. But again, that's irrelevant in practice.

    Bought ES120 1 month ago. Generally happy with the instrument but I don't understand, since they increased the price, why it did not ship with the solid sustain pedal which the ES110 had. This one has a flimsy, plastic, cheap pedal which will need to be replaced

    I ordered a white one months ago, and finally got it today. Sounds wonderful through my music system. Not so great on its own - kind of tinny I think. I wish it had standard bass and treble controls , because its seriously lacking in the bass when using the built in speakers. That may be because I have it on a slide out drawer with a solid bottom, so that may be blocking the sound. Setting the EQ for "on a table" setting seems to help a bit, but not enough. Also the old ES-110 came with a good solid damper pedal, but this comes with a plastic piece of junk. But my biggest complaint is the bluetooth functionality. The phone app works great and is the best way to control the keyboard, but it does lack some functions, like being able to disable or enable the on-board speakers. That's just a weird omission. But the big problem is that when using the app, it's using bluetooth. So as soon as you do that (enable bluetooth) it disables the USB midi functionality. But in order to choose a midi channel to output on, it would be easiest to use the app, but obviously you can't, unless you pair it with bluetooth, make the selection, then unpair it again. You can also use it as a a bluetooth midi controller. But again, you have to unpair the app to do that, because it can only pair with one thing at a time. So that's a pretty major dissapointment. I know there are better midi controllers out there, I was just hoping that this could do double duty.

    If you were to mainly play using headphones, is there any difference in the es110 and es120 when it comes to sound? Thinking of learning the piano and so far I'm leaning towards these two piano.

    • @ronaldeng3454
      @ronaldeng3454 Год назад

      If you're learning classical, you probably have a teacher who would recommend something better than the es110.
      If you're learning on your own, at your own pace, and not necessarily classical, the es110 should fit nicely.

    • @geu6270
      @geu6270 Год назад +1

      I would go with the 120 for 2 reasons. RHC sucks on the 110 as well as the sound thru midrange. 120 they fixed both of these (see stu's review on yt about that). 120 really good midrange now as well as better cushioned and decidedly quieter keys with the RHC "improved". I actually like this action better than the RH3 action (one action higher than RHC) . For some bizarre reason all companies and DP action makers till you get to the hybrid actions, think action of acoustics are heavier than they really are lol. You can test this for yourself with a few pennies on the keys of a DP verses an acoustic. Anyway, so try and get to a action that feels light to you on a dp.....good luck. Btw, Ted says gigging ready. Really that would be a model up from this one like the 520 I would think that puts out 40 watts vs 120 20 watts. The 120 is loud enough for a small room concert but nothing more unless you amp it which you could easily do with it's line out.

      @@geu6270exactly! Most of the DPs are having a very tough action which doesn't correspond the real one. It gives me an impression of riding on a bike on sand. The action on es120 is lacking some features, but it's somehow closer to a real one than, let's say, Roland PHA-4 action.
