  • For my birthday in May 2018, I wanted to take a road trip to some places I'd never been to. Each stop on the trip was related to Mister Rogers of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, which is why I called this trip a Mister Rogers Road Trip. The first was the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum in Washington, PA, which had been featured in a 1984 episode of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. The second stop was Unity Cemetery in Latrobe, PA where Mister Rogers was laid to rest after he passed away. The third stop was the Hotel Saxonburg, where in 1982 Mister Rogers took us to see a restaurant.
Here are some of the highlights of the trip:
0:00:00 - The drive to the museum from Interstate 70
0:08:44 - Arrival at the museum
0:24:34 - Ride on car 4398 to the display building at the museum
0:29:35 - Tour of the display building
0:52:55 - Ride on car 4398 back to the main area of the museum
1:00:50 - Ride on car 1758 over the entire route at the museum
1:37:48 - Ride on car 4398 over the entire route (end was cut short by memory card filling up)
2:02:04 - The drive to Latrobe
2:24:04 - Visiting Unity Cemetery and Mister Rogers
2:30:30 - The drive to Saxonburg
    2:55:02 - The Hotel Saxonburg
2:55:20 - The drive back to Interstate 70 to head home

There's a trolley museum in Kennebunkport, Maine that I've been to: Seashore Trolley Museum. They have lots of trolleys there, too. Not only that, lots of buses, even from my neck of the woods: MBTA.

11:07 you are correct, sir, this is 3756, the same trolley the late Fred Rogers was on with Joe Brandtner at the Arden Trolley Museum in Mister Rogers' Neighborhood episode 1531. He brought his Neighborhood Trolley with him and Joe Brandtner looked at it and said it looked like a single truck, open car like the St. Louis car company built around 1900. 3756 was built in 1925 as Joe Brandtner told the late Fred Rogers.

Yeah, found that episode a while back. That was indeed the one that he started his tour on.

Thank you! Yes, it was an awesome trip. The museum has expanded a lot since it was on the 1984 episode of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. They actually announced the other day that they're doing so well that they're going ahead with plans for expanding with plans that include a new visitors center. For a mostly volunteer organization, it's a very well run museum and well worth making the drive there. :-)

Not sure other than one of Mister Rogers' relatives.
