Jesus! Cried twice watching this. Was a 12 year old boy who played and was into baseball like no other, was my life. Pops had season tickets and we would go to every game we could. Video brought back a lot of great memories with Dad losing our voices, never felt joy like I did witnessing that season!
I'm not a mariners fan but I'm a fan of any team that plays the Yankees and Ken Griffey Jr said it best when he said that if he was ever traded to the Yankees he'd retire. When he hit his number 500 home run in Saint Louis he said the ovation he received was amazing. He also said that when he hit number 500 he wouldn't have wanted any different unless it was in Seattle and that is totally respectful.
You do that. I will stick wtih the Yankees. We have suffered a lot. But we still have 27 titles. We should have many more. However, that's how it goes in baseball. You can't win them all.

Man, I miss Dave Niehaus. He seemed like a truly authentic fan, as much as anything else. There was so much passion in his commentating; he really made a game a joy to watch.
A lot of M’s players on this team spent some time playing with their AAA affiliate here with the Calgary Cannons of the PCL. Great to see Tino, Edgar and Jay go to the postseason.
I was only 9 years old during the '95 season. I remember them wheeling the TV into our classrooms so we could watch the playoffs. My parents even took me to a few games during the end of the season. I have never been so enthralled by a game since. A dynamic line-up, a STELLAR Dave Niehaus and the Dome...man what a time. I remember the way SoDo used to be a party zone after every win. Shouting, horns honking. Baseball will never be this exciting again.
I was 3 when this happened so I didn't see any of this live or if I did I certainly don't remember it but the video of "The Double" gives me chills. Every. Single. Time.
That was a great moment. I remember watching this game in Germany. But that was the year nobody in the American League could stop the Cleveland Indians!! But that was great game by the Ms
Our greatest moment is winning the most games in a season by any team ever...baseball isn't all about the world series...this season had huge weight to it which is why it is so special to us.

I was sitting in right field (would've caught Cora's homer had it been a little higher) and remember thinking "OK, it's tied up" when Edgar made contact...then I looked over and saw Jr. literally flying around third and knew the game was over. Sigh. What a ride. Awesome to hear Dave narrating this video. RIP Dave...and Eagle hardware too

I can't believe with all of this talent, they weren't a dynasty. Maybe they were just one SP away from being unstopable. Without question - the best MLB post season roster that NEVER won the world series.
I'd say more like two SPs away from a dynasty. Until we traded him away, Randy was all we had as far as solid pitching. So of course we werent actually going to make the WS with a weak pen.

They had a memorial service at Safeco, and his call of "The Double" was played on the big screen. It was like it was happening all over again. Regardless of who you root for, there are some calls that will live forever, and that's one of them. :-)
95... I married my wife, bought my first home, was called back to my employer after a 2 year layoff to remain employed to this day and Dave calling the entire end of regular season with the first playoff appearance. Damn that was a good year.

We were 14 games out to start August, won the playoff entry game in dramatic fashion, came from behind MULTIPLES TIMES to beat the Yankees, our late hall of fame announcer is the one on the call, and we had 4 or 5 future Hall of Famers on this team. Please, go and see how many golf balls you can fit into your mouth without choking on one

Griffey, Frank Thomas, and Jim Thome are 3 of a I believe about 10 of the major power players during this time that have never been implicated in any type of steroid controversy. Those guys are true legends. I do admire Bonds as well, what he accomplished is not void but unfortunately he made mistakes, we all have.
