you’d be surprised, but at almost every single position, physicals will win. The only attribute group that will give it competition is technicals. Mentals almost always fall on the lower side of experiments.
physicals are important for every single role, reduce KDB pace by 5 and his output is lowered by a lot even with roles that lie to you that physicals aren't as important , FM is one of the few games where DEVS are lying to you .
Maybe midfield would be a more fair comparison between mentality and physicality. Its hard to imagine the strongest, fastest, tallest, and most agile player in the world not dominating as a forward as long as he has somewhat conpetent attributes elsewhere.

Not only does the ball presser arrive sooner, but all his teammates will rotate quicker behind him. ' Roles do not matter, the only thing that matters to the match engine is the 50-50 calculations on wether you have the upper hand in getting the ball or not, and the only important attributes for such an event is pace and acceleration, no matter the role or anything in a fluid gegenpress tactic (even the default one with no tweaks is meta af apparently) everyone rotates until you get the ball. Search for "FM ARENA Should you follow the highlighted attributes of the roles?" on google and you'll find out i'm right
7:20 Newgens, especially strikers, tend to generate with really low concentration these past few FM's. I think this is SI's idea of balancing that low starting concentration, having players develop it like crazy.
Maybe freezing attributes next test? Regarding final question, I really think it depends how you are playing. An extremely low tempo tactic may benefit more from mentals or technicals, but any tactic willing to exploit the space behind the defense, even a little, will favor the physicals for sure.
Dunno why but for some reason I expected Mentals to do better but I thought it'd be close. I think 20 Natural Fitness goes a long way in keeping those physicals up in to "old" age.
You should do this experiment again, but in different positions. It would be interesting to see how the attributes affect each position and whether their grown changes. It could be a series of videos for your channel.
I know this is just a fun experiment but to confirm which attribute set is the best, all other variables must be the same (tactics, teammates attributes, league's players abilities, freeze the striker's attributes, etc.) Good video ideas though 😊
I think the point though is to kind of think about what kind of attributes you want to look for when signing a player. It is therefore important to consider which attributes will develop better than others and I think it's fair to say mentals develop the quickest with youngsters, and physicals the slowest. Which is why I think someone pre-set with great physicals dominates these kinds of tests as he just develops the others, whereas people who don't have the physicals can't develop them super-quick.
What's more interesting for me that a young player with 20 determination didn't have any serious progress in his physical and technical abilities. Maybe it's due to other factors but it's not what you would expect.
For a similar suggestion, it would be nice to know which of the two columns is more important for GKs -- maybe it won't make much difference if the GK-specific stats are the same but it would be interesting to know how much the other stats matter.
One important thing is how they are training as well. I usually play gegenpress in my saves, so I have a bunch of physical training. I'm not sure this is a normal thing or if its related to more physical training, but physicals are easy to develop for my players so I usually go after youth prospects with good technical and mental rather than physicals.
I think it's more a case of which set of attributes have the most "key" attributes. The physicals have pace, agility, jumping reach, natural fitness, strength that I think exponentially increase a player's performance in-game. While the mentals are not per-say "needed" for a player to succeed, what I mean is that a striker could have 5 composure or 5 off the ball and with the right attributes still score 30+ goals a season.
Actually, it is how it works in real football. In youth academies physical gems have more chances to become a pro and then catch up with a mental growth (of course if you are not an absolute tree and your tech ability is at least mediocre).
I played with Max Mentals in my save with Rotherham. He was pretty good. Sold him to Hoffenheim for £11m. Used that to buy Mbappe. What skin do you use?
i feel like this would have been better if their CA was locked. physicals developed way more than mentals did so mentals never stood a chance against 13 finishing and 20 concentration
If you think about it, it actually makes sense. If you have natural talent I.e physicals (pace, acceleration, Stamina etc) and technicals (crossing, finishing, dribbling etc) these players would have more of an impact in a match compared to a person who understands the game and can find themselves in great positions but can’t run, pass, cross in order to utilize the mental attributes. Mentals are great for controlling games but not for winning games.

You probably know this but FMRTE would allow you to have much more control over the development (or non-development in this case) of the attributes because you can freeze specific things. Even individual attributes.
Yeah I’m not a fan of using third party editors, and I wanted the attributes to develop/change. The idea that the physicals would decrease with age, whilst the mentals would increase is something I actively wanted. As the idea is to use the learnings to decide which strikers to buy in a regular game, e.g. I'm going to choose the young striker with the physicals, even though the mentals are lacking.

As a striker it also depends ifthey play alongside good players that'll benefit them accordingly. Physically itsbenfits target man poacher and alos out wide as wingers or wide forward. Mentally it would benefyt a team playing possesion and a striker who would partake in decisions making for the team like deep lying forward or advance playmaker sort of role
So, with the max fitness guy, the reason why his attributes were still so good is because natural fitness is how old a player can stay fit for, so giving him 20 natural fitness means he would be able to go until his late 30s
interesting. you would think a guy in real life with an incredible mental profile would improve his overall game more over time than the guy who is basically just an incredible athlete

Physicals are so overpowered that I wasn't surprised with the outcome. In cact I'm sure max physical player with 1's in everything else woul still outperform a max techincal or max mental player with 10's in other attributes.
I want to comment before the experiment conclude , I pause the video and here is my tought, I will root for the perfect physical as he can overrun, overjump, win with his strength and never runs out of fuel, does not matter what his other attributes, especially as everything else are set to 10 which is a pretty neutral (not bad value) he will thrive
You should make the same while giving players ability to play anywhere. That way you can see when you have max something where managers choose to play you. Also to do the test, you should create very balanced teams. If a team has messi, it is normal forward scores more. While with Ronaldo, other strikers will play less.
Havent watched it yet but my guess is perfect physicals. Physicals are highly over indexed by the match engine. Strength is literally the best attribute in the game, followed by acceleration, jumping reach, dribbling, than pace. Unless you give them 1 work rate, physicals need work rate.

I think you need everything in a striker but there is a few that is more important than others like teamwork and off the Ball and keeping cool with the Ball.
I'd be interested to see a slightly different version if the baseline stats were 12 rather than 10? I feel like that having base 12's would mean they are not overcoming such a deficit and maybe you could get a purer comparison between the two?
Good mentals normally should translate into faster and better overall progress, as the player is determined and has a big work rate, should be the better round player in the end.
I think you should then in 3 different positions (all the same county) playing for the same club in a lower league and see how far they can get their club in a set amount of years ...

Posting my prediction before the video: Physicals becomes the best player in the world, mentals becomes an average premier league tier player. Physicals has a long career due to his high natural fitness, playing well into his 30s, while mentals retires a few years earlier. Will edit the comment to see if I'm correct! EDIT: I see technicals is a player too, I reckon he becomes about as good as mentals but still nowhere near physicals. Final EDIT: Well Physicals was the far better player, but didn't become quite as good as I predicted. Still a very interesting simulation!
I decided it would be much easier to compare if they were in comparable settings. Say one of them got bought by Man City and never played them because haaland was ahead of them, that’s not helpful to us.
@@Clayts had more goals in less caps for the national team (then mentals) had more goals in the league. He was in the least fortunate position as far as team investment as well and seemed to have similar success in the cups as (mentals.) From the very limited view we got of him he seemed better.

Max Mentals probably should have been a CAM. Having such limited physicals as the main ST will be a bigger impact than at AM

That's why when people on the reddit talking about the "meta" stats, I was saying it is mental attributes that is busted, not physical stats.

Paused the video at 5:13. Pace is so overpowered in the FM24 match engine that Max Physical should turn out to have the best career.
