There are always going to be segments of a class who are performing worse than others, even in an all-white class. She should just enter the corporate world if she hates teaching.
If it had been in the context of "we are doing something wrong and need to do better" But no, she was bringing this up so she could call black students stupid.

I see absolutely no evidence in those clips to support any of these assumptions. She saw that black students underperform, that is what she stated, and that is why she got fired. I’m so glad stories like these are coming to light. It’s not just hard to get in to Ivy League schools, they make it hard to survive. We all leave with scars
Wealth proportional magnitude and cultural acceptance is why these ivy league schools feel discomforting for many who come there. I wanted to enlist for Harvard, had the GPA standards they wanted, SAT score (1580) and my academic record was almost near perfect. However, what slipped me from reality was the cost of going to that school. Yes scholarships are given, and there are many programs to give financial benefits to students who need to, but the sum in total would've costed me over $100,000. To put it more clear as possible, not everyone is going to be selected a scholarship that gives out $100,000 or so. It's luck of the draw, and the work you put in that they deem qualitative. But that wasn't my only issue. My other issue was traveling from a whole new state (about 560miles away) and paying to live there and a little more extra because I'm not a resident of Massachusetts. So the charges increase, or rather occur more gradually. It's definitely an issue in itself, but I also felt that I wouldn't fit in with other students who go there. Because elite schools are notorious for their wealth classes. Instead, I have found a more suitable college I can enjoy for a while. One that costed me only $1,000 because of scholarships and other programs funded by the state government. Also, remember guys, elite schools are very selective with who they choose. If you don't get accepted into one of them you wanted, it's most likely because they didn't find your character interesting enough to be well suited for the school. I've been rejected from Stanford 😥
@@dhara548 Yea, I was elusive including that part, I know that they want diversity brought into their school. People are attracted to a high diverse profile, rather than having a few ethnicity participants.
I had a professor who admitted to having a low perception of me just because I switched into his course late. He told me his class was difficult, and that it's best if I switched out. I stayed, despite being the only person of color in his course. The Prof even gave me zero on assignments that were given out days before my schedule was fixed. Still, I worked my butt off and ended up getting the highest grade in his course.
Like she might think she’s stating facts but as a professor instead of saying I dread my failing students every semester how about she asks herself “why?” Like Why are they not passing? What can I do as their educator to help them pass and get them the education they might need help with? Stop dreading the problem and be the solution. 🙄
There could be a real issue with black students? I mean, if the school system is rigged in a way that blacks are consistently only given access to inferior schooling during childhood??? Why is this surprising that they might be less ready for higher education?
@@hakunamatata1352 if they felt that way they would have to take a intro class. @@vincenttheo8841 it is if she see a trend like she needs to ask herself what she could do better to make sure her black students aren't falling behind if she actually care. 😂 and lol they do that with just about every minority
Sadly, a lot of teachers talk disparagingly about lower level students when they think no students are around. I'm a second year teacher, and some coworkers have said some pretty disrespectful bs about students. I think the worst time was when a couple of teachers made fun of one student with autism, who is a selective mute. It's really messed up. The fact that she also brought race into this makes it even worse.
Thanks for eventually getting back to the topic of the racism, because granted, there is a LOT of disparaging thought processes about the disabled community in all of its forms, this topic is about RACISM, and it's NOT to be compared to a disability. 🙏🏽
When teachers focus on the negatives of their students and make fun of them, instead trying to be a positive influence and build them up. They shouldn't be teachers at all.
I wonder if she ever stopped to actually verify her “observation” of black students and see if their average grade really was any different than non-black students. She’d probably be surprised to see it’s a lot of confirmation bias.
It's also possible that she subconsciously grades black students lower than white. There have been quite a few studies in both US and UK that have demonstrated that the work of black students suddenly gets better scores when the grader doesn't have any identifying info about them (i.e. only a serial number is used to tell apart the tests) versus when there is some identifying factor - even a name
@@raerohan4241 these tests are old and international. even a migrant as a teacher expected mistakes from migrant kids and thereby look more into these works, creating a stricter judgement. even teachers, who knew about this phanomen and tried to judgefairly with this effect in mind failed to grade equal in studies. it is not racism, its stereotypical thinking and tricks on our own mind, because the controll of performing is longer than our average concentration time, so we have weak mind times and trick ourself in these moments. the sad truth is a defacto difference of performances by race in the USA, because the society in the USA remains to be racistic. Or at least these black students would claim, that their own background was deformed by racism, thereby even the black students themself will support the claim of the Prof. at any moment of their semester, that their performances are hindered by the constant racism of the society on their shoulders over their whole livetimes. i wonder if anyone realice, that racistic social structures exist for centuries in every country of this world for the specific reason, that it is a strong, tight and complex system of millions of individuals of all parts of this system and stigmatized to be problematical to discuss in public for the same time, thereby never truly desolved, if this is possible. non-related to this case or to US-society.
It seems she already has a disposition on them having bad grades before the semesters even start. So she's starting the semester off with a negative bias for the black students so of course as a human, she's gonna find her own patterns to support her own narratives and im assuming has misgrader a lot of their papers. I dated 2 teachers 1 high school seniors and one a professor at a uni im an alum to. She said she had to take specific training courses to get rid of her natural bias and replace it with a professional one to do her job correctly because she noticed she was having bias doing grades for certain students. She noticed she was giving more praise to her good students and leaving her bad ones behind. So she changed. Humans don't tend to pick up on their own innate BS when decision making. So she is probably grading papers incorrectly and that's why the students do poorly. Which is probably judging by her age, a bias she most certainly already had before going into this profession in the first place.
Maybe if she didn't call the student "blacks" and "they" and actually gave the underperforming students support, the results may be different. She appears to be irritated at having to teach African-American students.
@@jame5game5 The fact that she’s pointing out race as a factor at all, speaks to her bias. She thinks her black students are innately less intelligent than her other students based on some black students performing at the bottom, even though she’s had black students perform at the top. Undoubtedly, she’s had white students perform at the bottom as well, given the fact that whites make up the majority of the student body and blacks make up only 7%, that’s less than any other ethnicity at Georgetown. It would be highly improbable for her to have more black students than white students in the bottom at any given time, yet she’s not making that assumption about white students. Exactly. She was there for about 20 years too. If she tried to help all students to the best of her ability and within campus resources, then she is probably better off just leaving academia. There are always going to be segments of a class who are performing worse than others, even in an all-white class. She should just enter the corporate world if she hates teaching.
It's not her job. She is there to teach. The students need to take more responsibility for themselves. They are adults.
If the students can't help themselves her efforts will be in vain

IMO, there are just too many assumptions being made in the way people are judging her: assuming that she thinks black students perform poorly entirely because they're black, assuming that she doesn't realize that there are or could be systemic reasons for why students underperform, assuming that she grades black students differently, assuming that she wants black students to continue to perform poorly.
I see absolutely no evidence in those clips to support any of these assumptions. She saw that black students underperform, that is what she stated, and that is why she got fired. As far as I know, there's no evidence to support any assumptions that she's racist. Certainly if there is, it's not in those video clips.

Actually for admission its easier to get into ivy league schools if u are a first generation poc as opposed to a white male. It looks better for them.
@@dhara548 Yea, I was elusive including that part, I know that they want diversity brought into their school. People are attracted to a high diverse profile, rather than having a few ethnicity participants.

Oh yeah my psych professors was like if someone is failing my class then im failing them because there is a clear issue here

Those teachers are truly uneducated low intelligent pigs
Did you report them? If not you’re part of the problem like the police officers that keep quiet
@JV Harbin According to her, and she is clearly biased, so what’s your point?
@@jj1106 Those students probably don't learn in the first place, can't blame her, she said some blacks score high as well, so not biased
@@ruffian2952 A verb is an action word and it wasn't used in that way. The word black is a descriptive one as an adjective.
Aah, a couple of racists huddled together.

@@Joe-xo4yg What?
Well, she can now work at PraguerU
At least she didn't lie ....
Good now let’s talk about nursing school we got plenty of Karen’s in there too 👀
Not socked ...
A lot of white “professors in higher education “ feel that way about minorities hate to say it
She doesn't "feel" anything she's literally just stating facts.
I would really like to hear the entire conversation
Her body language and tone, plus "it drives me crazy" tells me that she doesn't really want those students in her class. If the black students are "always at the bottom" sounds like her teaching skills aren't color blind.
but you're not supposed to be colorblind, haven't you heard? You're clearly not woke.
"I hate to say this" Yeah, because you know it's wrong to say it.
Low performing students, eh?
Sounds like a low performing Prof.
@Crimson Spirit Probably her excuse of having superiority complex.
It seems it is the Professor herself who still has a lot to learn.
I’m a pretty liberal person in most respects, and I honestly don’t see why she was fired?
@*6th* Temporary Account People bday Asians, Hispanics, what's your point.
@*6th* Temporary Account *People say
@*6th* Temporary Account Agreed
Context is required here.
Now you are fired you really hate to say that...
It's very interesting that people believe her statement without any facts or statistics to back it up.
Might there be something wrong with her "teaching" if it's a recurring trend to have so many students fail??... Self Actualisation is so difficult to attain...
She said there are very good students in her class including some black students. However, black students are disproportionally failing her class than other students. I don't see how her teaching method is flawed if there are students passing her class.
@@applenoo1015 So a good teacher can knowingly address the problem and basically do the bare minimum -or absolutely nothing- about it, that "the black students" remain failing in her class? But they're 'good kids'? Her teaching method will of course and should be examined! She's the TEACHER! What's her Syllabus? Did she ever reach out to the Students or their Guardians? Did she ever, during those times when a 'good student' of hers was falling through the system, reach out to another colleague for advice? ... No she did nothing, but make it a race issue and commentary. Would you place a family member or child in her class???
@@humdee648 Are you seriously everything on the teacher? Could it be the students themselves or a combination of the two? The students don't work hard despite her attempting to help them.
This is not racism. She was simply stating a objective fact. However, the reason is inconclusive.
@@applenoo1015 we can go on and on about our different viewpoints, and quite frankly I appreciate your insights. Let's just agree to disagree? ... I don't think it's all on the teacher also, but just stating that she could've handled the situation better. At the end of the day, I'm on the outside and the what ifs never get anywhere! Cheers.
Just want to take the time to thank you nowthisnews for always being inclusive to the deaf and hard of hearing community with your subtitles/closed captions 😇🙏❤
Her saying “Blacks” told me all I needed to know
This was a problem for me when I was a student. White teachers will assume you will fail the moment you walk through the door. So it's like pulling teeth to get them to give you as much help as they give white students. You end up a lot of the time having to study the material alone or hope one of the other students will help you. Because you are not going to get that help from some white teachers. And heaven help you if you call out that the reason for their apathy towards you is because of race.
This teacher was caught because she assumed she was expressing her views to another white teacher. She would not have said any of this to anyone else and continued to blame the students she won't help for their failure.
Is it true? Or was she lying? I’m so confused. If it’s true... what is the issue?
@Belle x Blondie No, I’m for real. I’m confused. I just asked my gf and she is BLACK and didn’t see the issue if what she is saying is true.
What she is saying is stating a fact... if it’s not wrong then what is the issue?
I'm black and I don't see the issue. I'm also in college and also see this. Most of them drop out bc they don't wanna do the work
@Belle x Blondie I’m asking... what if the majority of the bottom of class was black? Does her simply STATING a FACT is perfectly fine. If it’s wrong she should apologize.
The issue? Feelings don't care about facts.
@Belle x Blondie So now you cannot say something true, if YOU don’t agree with possible motive. What if I agree with what she said? Am I wrong because I agree with a fact she said? Do I not need to comment because I’m white?
There will always be different kind of students everywhere, regardless of race.
This is why they kneel!!!!
How can someone be smart enough to be a professor at Georgetown and still not see that this was a really bad idea?
What if she was telling the truth ?
But what she's saying could apply to someone of every race. There's black, white, Asian, etc who are low performing. Why make it about race?
@@LeratoM98
Blacks are a minority in the USA. So if a lot of students that have low grades are black, it's an issue.
So Georgetown is one of the most difficult private universities to get into, but somehow black students “are at the bottom.” Could it be they sensed her prejudices? I wonder what it was like attempting to participate in her class while observing her negative attitude towards them. Interesting social experiment. Glad she’s canceled herself.
"I hate to say this, but..." =
"I love saying this, but I have to pretend I don't." 🤷
Why would she have to ?
Is there some things you're not allowed to say ?
With that personality, how can she be a prof?
So you know her personality from a clip? Lol
@@revterrell it’s not hard to tell someone’s personality from a clip tf ? 😂
@@pHixiq alright what’s her personality?
It was an adjunct professor. Had it been a tenured one, there would have been no firing and the story would have been repressed. Fools!
This made my stomach roll from disgust. And I am white. Instead of recognising that non-white freshmen/women are more likely to enter college from underprivileged and underfunded high schools and they need a bit of boost of help at the beginning, she trashes them with this contempt because what, they tire her? And they call themselves educators. 😡
When you pair lower grades with a certain race, you inadvertently become inclined to give that race a lower grade even if they do well. It’s a good thing they fired the professor, as keeping her there would have resulted in a systematic bias against black students.
Yep, because after 20 years, she is likely to run with the "set condition." I hope it works out for the students she put down.
Do you have any evidence of that? What do you want to bet if marks are giving blind the grade are going to be even worse?
@@XKS99 favouritism is a rampant problem in the education system and is proven to affect grades irregardless of the work being put out. Now add that to racial premonitions and see what you have. It’s really not that hard to figure this out based on evidence
@@danirezaeva3934 favouritism, which is often shown to female students by female teachers might bump your grades 10%. What it certainly won’t do is make fine work into an incomprehensible garbled mess. It seems racialists are fine with actual discrimination when justified using insane equity doctrine. This state of affairs isn’t long term stable. You can’t have a functioning society where standards differ based solely on race.
LOL
Stating facts can get you in trouble now ! PC is so out of control !
Her hatred spews out of her snout.
I remember back in HS and College in the 80's teachers and professors alike would talk openly with each other and criticize the students without a care in the world! Nothing has changed, the only difference now; is that we have new tech and it has become very easy to report this and bring it to light for the entire world to see!
Shouldn't she do more to help these students?
Do what ?
