I recently visited Georgetown and I’m considering it for my undergraduate education. I appreciate the students’ honesty and you actually getting out there for us to find out such tiny but very important details that we would not otherwise know.
I love your videos so much. Some suggestions for future videos are: Wash U, University of Washington, University of Michigan, Georgia Tech, University of Norte Dame, and Vanderbilt University
Whoever said Georgetown’s campus is basically a wind tunnel was completely right. Especially red square, the tunnel under new north, and the hill to yates
I just graduated from Georgetown as an undergrad and will continue on for Grad school. If you have any more questions y'all can ask me! Would love to answer.
Did you find that the students were super competitive with others or are people supportive and help each other out? Also, I heard it’s really preppy and people dress up to go to class. Did you find that when you went here?
@@Kiwi-dl3sr TBH the competitive culture at Georgetown is extremely apparent and ubiquitous, almost to the point that it can define your friend groups if you let it. For example, There are SO many student clubs like the Corp(student-run organization that has coffee shops and convenience stores on campus and these jobs are paying jobs), The GTown Student Government, or even Blue and Gray (a group of students who volunteer to be tour guides) that all tend to let in the "same" type of students. The application process is unreal, and at times really sad if you get rejected (I tried out for stud gov and got rejected). On the other hand, there are plenty of other fun student groups on campus that don't require you to apply which is a nice balance. I would say that there's an acknowledgment that the competitive spirit of most students are toxic, like we often say we don't like it but then can't help but say "I got 4 hours of sleep" "well I only got 2!" There can also be a ton of pressure for summer internships and jobs, exacerbating the financial inequity in students. I was one of those students that couldn't afford a summer of not being paid to intern at a place related to my interests. I needed a real job, whether it was related to my major or not. We say that we understand each other and know not everyone has access to these opportunities, yet we still perpetuate those ideas and they just stay in our heads despite the awareness. It's really unfortunate and unhealthy. The "dressing up" reflecting social class is more apparent. For example, there's a joke of rich boys wearing salmon shorts and Vineyard Vines(this brand with a whale as the emblem), which they actually do! I didn't know of Vineyard Vines until I had it explained and saw that their prices are ridiculous for such plain clothing but whatever! ahah. There's also well-off students with those fancy name-brand backpacks and special water bottles I am forgetting the names of. Other than that, most just wear comfortable clothing (with the exception of the first day of class funny enough) I will add that fashion reflecting social class is even more stark depending on what school you are in such as the MSB or SFS. The College is more mixed along with the NHS. But this is just regarding class outfits, not going out or social event outfits so keep that in mind. If you have more questions I am still at Georgetown completing my Masters so feel free to email me at kmg123@georgetown.edu
these kids don’t talk about any parties/kickbacks or sports games or going out in DC. do people just study all weekend? to people form friend groups or just stick to a couple people?

Rats at 2:23...After viewing this clip I found an article in The Georgetown Voice quoting a potential student, "A student voiced their hesitation to commit to Georgetown because of the rat population. “I’m scared,” the prospective student confessed. “I kinda want to commit to Georgetown… but rats are a HUGE deal breaker.” Aren't they though! Ratatouille as the sun sets. Who would have thunk it?
