Four Star Playhouse is an American television anthology series that ran from 1952 to 1956. Four Star Playhouse was owned by Four Star International. Its episodes ranged anywhere from surreal mysteries, such as "The Man on the Train", to light comedies, such as "The Lost Silk Hat". The original premise was that Charles Boyer, Ida Lupino, David Niven, and Dick Powell would take turns starring in episodes. However, several other performers took the lead from time to time, including Ronald Colman and Joan Fontaine.

NOT underrated at all. Simply not known in current day. Also was a successful producer.

She played so many unusual roles, perhaps more than most actresses. Some of her costumes were incredible and timeless. She had a fantastic voice.

Yes, her singing "Set 'em up, Joe" in Roadhouse was sublime, shows that "singing" is all expression, energy

Two lunatics find true love. OR how to cure a lunatic of his delusional thinking in only minutes through the love of a good woman. Sentimental themes that would intrigue a 1950s TV audience.

WOW I adore Ida Lupino, she should have gotten an Oscar, 3 times over, one for an actress/ Producer/writer. She was a vIctim of Hollywood sexism and discrimanationin Bad fall, in the 1950s women would fall down stairs and die at a alarming rate in movies, so odd..

Ida Lupino is beautiful, but she didn't really look her best in her choices of fashion at the time. She'd have ruled the world in the 70s. 💖

Ida was a very good actress with a warm and soft tone of voice, very fascinating.
She was pretty although no great beauty.
The ridiculous plot is a twisted poor mans Rebecca.
