- Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steven McCraw said there were at least two calls to 911 from children during the deadly shooting at Robb Elementary School. He laid out one of the calls. McCraw did not provide the name of a girl who called and did not release the audio, saying it’s better that he reads it “than you listen to it." CNN's Adrienne Broaddus reports. #CNN #News

The fact a panicked teacher calls at 11:30Am and it took officers well over an hour to even attempt to stop the shooter is mind blowing. If you arent willing to put your life on the line dont be a officer.

The police department was 1.5 miles from 4th grade students, and took at least an hour to get to the criminal. There is just no excuse. I can completely understand fearing for your life and don’t wanna run in. But if that is the case, you shouldn’t be an officer. Unfortunately that is part of the job.

I had a conversation with my 4th grade students about this. They told me they're scared because they're the same age and this could happened at any school. This is terrifying when you have a bunch of 9-10 years old who are worried about their lives at school.

I suspect there will be nothing left of that police department by the end of this. Those that aren't fired will probably resign in shame - or worse. Seems like a massive fuckup by many. But I doubt that tiny police department has the money to bear all the lawsuits from parents, family, and the dozen's of traumatized kids who will need therapy and help for years to come.
How about suing the school and the teachers estate for her breaking security by having the side entry door to the school "propped" open?

They didn't even have to have much risk. What you do is deploy a gas grenade, then you send a lead officer with a RIOT shield which they had available on scene. You then send a few officer to fire over the top of the shield and move in a squad of 3. They could have taken down the dweeb suspect in minutes and got the kids to the hospital. Instead they stood around for a hour.
The calls from that little girl, pleading for help, begging for police to save her and her friends… I just think about how brave she was. For her to be able to form words, while in a such a horrifying situation, what inner strength. And, because officers were more concerned about their lives, this little hero lost hers. It makes me feel sick inside… and angry beyond words. Parents tried to get into the school to save these children, even if that meant dying. They were held back… next time, as parents, no one will be able to hold us back! Someone has to protect our children- the trained, armed police officers can stand aside, if they won’t! ENOUGH!!!!!

When you sign up to be an officer, you know the dangers of the job, and you are trained for these type of situations. But you stand on the hallway waiting for more backup while children are being slaughtered???? How can you stay in that profession after you have done that.

I would have waited in the hallway too for more backup, waiting for the shooter to walk into it and just camp. If I had run in and gotten shot and died, it would have been a small memorial then people would forget about me, but then my family would have to make do without that steady paycheck. If you want more brave men to get into the profession maybe pick people with less to lose if they die.

I listened to the most current police spokesman statement. According to his statement, shooting began at the school at 11:31 am as suspect left his vehicle and started shooting into classroom from outside the building. It was at 11:33 am that the suspect began shooting in the classrooms. Based on audio evidence, the spokesman estimated that approximately 100 rounds were fired at that point in time.
At 11:35 3 officers attempted to enter the school while the school door was closed and two were subsequently shot with grazing rounds. Another 4 officers entered shortly there after. At 11:37 am another 16 rounds were fired. At 11:51 am a Sargent and USB agents (United States Border Patrol) started to arrive. Someone went to go get keys from the janitor and one of the classroom doors were finally breached at 11:50 am.
At 12:03 pm officers continued to arrive. At that time there were as many as 19 officers waiting in the hallway. According to the spokesman at 12:15 additional law enforcement possibly a swat team showed up with shields. At 12:21 suspect fired again and was believed to be at one of the classroom doors. showed up Of course by the time they got in the classroom it was way too late. The killer actually shot kids in multiple classrooms. The spokesman said that at 12:03 pm there were as many as 19 officers in the school hallway.
Here is what is really confusing, the spokesman said officers breached the classroom doors at 11:50 and the suspect was killed at that time. But in his same timeline explanation he said at 12:21 the suspect fired again and was believed to be at the classroom doors.
Something is not adding up. According to the police spokesman 911 was receiving calls at 12:03 from students still alive in the classrooms whispering and pleading for help. The calls indicated that the suspect was still shooting and killing people. 911 calls from a girl came in again at approximately between 12:43 and 12:47. Per 911 call at 12:50 shots could be heard and shortly after loud noise from classroom could be heard and cops were heard moving remaining survivors out.
The bottom line, it took over an hour for cops to kill the suspect from the time that the he entered the building. It is entirely possible that had the cops taken out the suspect sooner, some of the children may have survived, but the `Golden' hour in medical terms was missed.
What happened between the time of 11:50 when the cops say they breached one of the classroom doors and 12:50 when the last shots were reportedly heard?
Imagine being one of the parents that tried to get in and now hearing this..... This will multiply their trauma and grief 100 fold.
And then the NRA holds a meeting in Texas? How is this even aloud? They should at least have the sensibility of calling this off for at least several weeks. But since they're not going to do that, every single person has these kids on their conscience. They are utterly disgusting people!

He did not enter the school for twelve minutes. During this time he continued to fire his weapon. So here’s my question: Why did the administrators of this school upon hearing gun fire right outside the school, not run around and make sure the school was locked down, and that all doors to the outside were closed and securely locked? This makes no sense. It’s as if the teacher who propped the door open was in on it.

In 2021, there were an estimated 1.67Million uses of firearms in defense situations. Data from 2020 showed only 19,384 gun homicides.Imagine how higher it be if people couldnt defend themselves

The security guard/ retired police officer, at the TOPS supermarket in Buffalo, had more courage than all those police officers, who stood outside that classroom, hearing the perpetrator shooting children.

Law enforcement is only brazened when it comes to killing unarmed folks. This is more than disgraceful it’s negligence of the highest order as some of those children could have been saved if law enforcement did their job instead of standing around for an hour. With all the blood on their hands, some of those officers need to go to jail
